Boston should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! The fact that this hasn't happened yet is unbelievable! One of the best Rock bands of the 1970s and 1980s! About time they get their flowers!
Brad Delp's voice was just stunning, and his smile could light up an entire stadium. RIP Mr. Delp, we miss you. take care of your mental health and check in on your loved ones, friends, because you might not know when someone is struggling.
Brad Delp vocal range was just insane and the high notes he effortlessly hits are just out of this world. No auto tune either just pure talent from one of the greatest rock voices of all time. RIP Brad Delp.
RIP Brad Delp, one of the greatest rock vocalists ever. Incidentally this song has won numerous polls for best rock song of all time. And the story of how Tom Scholz basically created the entire album by himself (except for the vocals) in his basement is legendary.
Facts! Tom Scholz did do the entire album except for like 10 month with some vocal. After about 10 months the singer, Brad Delp RIP, realized there was no band. A label company said for the band to come to CA to record and Tommy said no. The label company force a song from the album to be recorded in CA and I think it was "Take Me Home Tonight." I think Tommy was an graduated engineer from MIT and working for Poloroid at the time. Don't quote me on sentence as it has been many years since I watched the Jananese video that was subtitled in English here on youturd.
Boston is a band that can’t be played loud enough. The hair and the mustaches were the style back then, not the testosterone. Brad Delp’s vocals are legendary. Great pick.
Dipshit said the testosterone wasn't in style back then. How the Fuck did they grow the mustache, then. My statement was no less nonsensical than yours. Despite the fact mine has some logic behind it if you know how to think critically.
Oh, such a bummer…not the whole song…the second verse has been cut out! That’s the second reaction video to this song where that’s happened…definitely check out the whole song. Gtreat review, glad liked it!
Polo, Sib Hashian (drums) passed away during a performance on a cruise ship in 2017. His daughter, Lauren, is married to Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson; she's a singer-songwriter. The Hashians are local to me; losing Sib was a very big kick in the teeth. Brad Delp (vocals) passed in 2007. Another huge kick. Boston was an absolutely incredible band; there will never be another like them.
It’s like Paul McCartney said when I’m 64 and I’m that age and nobody cares, glad you’re listening to this music because I grew up with this stuff, especially the Beatles
Brad Delp had a range that almost covers the entire piano keyboard. He covers above 4 octaves in this song alone. Too bad we lost him many years back due to personal demons. (depression).
Damn, this made me back out of a video to come watch this. Boston has been my favorite group for about 33 years. I love their stadium rock sound, and the lead singer has an incredible voice.
What's crazy is that the founder of Boston, Tom Scholz played most of the instruments on the first album. He is a musical genius. He did this while working a full time job outside of music. This band is unique.
The engineer and song writer was the guitar player Tom Sholz, it was recorded in his basement, an electronics genius, worked as an engineer at Polaroid before this.
This is probably the 10,000th, 100,000th?, time I've heard this. In fact I first heard it back when this album came out in 1976. He'll I even had hair back then, not as wild as some of them, but definitely more than now.
The first time I hears Boston, More than a Feeling, I was driving from Vancouver to San Francisco; I actually had to pull over and stop the car. My head almost exploded.
A monster hit in late 1976, early 1977. It was their debut song on their debut album. Recorded in the garage of Tom Scholz, who wrote the song, and who sent the demo tape to Epic Records, who decided to release the album using that very same demo tape. The song is considered one of the best rock songs, ever. And the album considered one of the best debut albums of all time.
It is my understanding that yes, it was recorded in their basement and once the record execs heard it they wanted to set up a time for the band to come into the studio and record it, but Tom Scholz didn't want to. Said it was good as is. So the record execs let the studio wizards listen to it and they said....yes, it's good to go as is. Footnote: Tom Scholz has a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from MIT.
@@jacksaintjack2844 Close. There was a video on this and Tom himself said the execs wanted a new recording. As Tom was walking out of the meeting he stopped and turned around. He asked, "Can I mix it and master it?" The studio said yes. He waited a while and turned in the original masters and the rest is history,
This is all bullshit. The demo tape could not be played. It's on RUclips, and you can hear it WANTING to be this album, but on the demo tape, it wasn't even called Hitch a Ride. "California Day". Not a garage, either. It was a full home studio in his basement, and you can't store that equipment in a cold garage. 😂 I was in high school in the 70’s. If you looked at my yearbook you would see tons of mustaches and Afros. 😂 I’ve seen Boston perform live. Superb! And the mustaches were magnificent!
Long hair was the style back then for young men (and women), starting in roughly the mid-60's and going all through the 70's. When you're young and full of vitality, you can grow some great hair. I grew up in that era, and I had hair so long at one point that it almost reached my belt in the back. We gloried in our long hair! 😊 As for "More Than a Feeling", it might be the most perfectly written and performed rock song of all time. It's certainly in the top 10 or so, if not the best of them all. Between Tom Scholz (who wrote, produced, played most of the instruments on the record, and arranged it all) and Brad Delp (with the utterly amazing vocals) you've got an absolute musical masterpiece in that song. And yes, it does sound like a summer song. Just beautiful.
Tom Scholz was the genius behind the music. He had a degree from MIT. Boston was one of my favorite bands ever. The way they harmonized the guitars was what caught the ear right away! I would love to see your reaction to my favorite song on this album. "Hitch A Ride" contains a great harmonized guitar solo!!!
Brad Delp had a mind-blowing voice. Being from Boston, damn, we loved them. His voice still gives me chills. We closed our eyes and he slipped away, so long ago now. We can always hear that band's talent, still on many playlists! (And Tom Schultz was an INSANE guitar player!!! The whole band rocked.)
Brad Delp had a miraculous voice. I wish he had been able to grasp onto some hope in his darkest hour. But I am grateful for the legacy of his astonishing vocals.
Boston is a party band. I drove with this 8 track on max volume through my teen years. Love love them! They are very unsung band. Lead singer died young. Incredible voice and guitar

Polo - you cannot fathom just how huge this album was! Debut album - every single song was a radio-hit single! EVERY SONG! Yes the lead singer (Brad Delph) had some chops. There are usually 3 male vocalists of that era for rock and roll placed in the Mt Rushmore of chops: Delph, Freddie Mercury as you compared, and Steve "The Voice" Perry of Journey. Every has their own order of the top three - none of them are inherently wrong. But most critics will put these three at the top of the list. If you're ready to explore Journey, the go-to gold Standard is their Live 1981 Houston "Escape" tour. Anything from that is heads and shoulders above nearly all other live bands. "Mother-Father" is widely regarded as the greatest live song among them.
Camping in 77. We had 1 tape and a cheap tape deck. Listened to the album till the batteries died. Great memories. The entire 1st album is friggin amazing.
You need to just diwload the whole album and listen to it nonstop. Now imagine you are 18 years old, just starting college and you have never before heard an album like this where every single song is pure gold. I can still remember that time

And you’re right, my favorite place to rock them is in my Mustang with the speakers cranked. Please keep doing them. Love your channel. Just don’t comment much. 🔥🤘🏼❤️
One of the most amazing debut albums of all time. I was born in Boston and was a young teenager when this came out ❤ We were saturated with great inventive music. Every radio station was great , now our counter culture is backdrop, but when you put on a pair of headphones - Damn they still sounds great ☮️
I was a young man during those days the best voices, lyrics, arrangements, and musical talent ever!!! The crazy thing was it wasn't one great band or singer there were hundreds!!!
I saw Boston in Eugene, Oregon at Mac Court, where the acoustics were amazing. Phenomenal band and a venue like that, still one of the best concerts ever. If not the best that I have had the privilege to attend.
Even more amazing when you realize they wrote the songs and the entire album was recorded in their basement. I always loved this song, you have to listen to the lyrics to get the meaning, it's a lost love song. The old song he hears on the radio makes him remember his old feelings and dreaming until he sees his Maryann walking away.
I'm a 65 yr old white soul boy from England...BUT i can appreciate ALL MUSIC...Brad is up there with the very best singers... His range is insane.... liking this you obviously got a great taste in music..😊
Grew up with this music, one of my favorite bands back then, had this album as a teenager, I remember several years ago after a stressful day, turned on the radio on the way home from work and this came on, I blasted it on the radio, it's how this song should be heard, lol, great stress reliever.
You watched a shortened (single) version of the song. So you know, Boston is Tom Scholz and Brad Delp. Tom wrote, recorded and produced the album in his basement studio. Home studios were extremely rare in the 1970's. Tom plays ALL instruments except drums (played by Sid Hasian) on the album. The phenomenal Brad Delp does ALL lead and harmony vocals. Tom also designed and built custom effects (the powersoak, hyperspace pedal, doubler and later the Rockman amplifier) to create the legendary Boston guitar sound. Fran Sheehan (bass) and Barry Goudreau (guitar) were added as part of the live band.
I was 11 years old when this album was released. More Than A Feeling was a staple of fm radio for years here in Metro Detroit. This song always reminds me of warm weather and sunshine. I remember it playing in many cars while driving around with my parents. The moment when the vocals merge with the guitar is magic.
First time hearing this was in 82 in the basement of a buddies house. From then on, I got the cassette for myself and it was my fav - played it forever. Whenever this song comes up, I will listen to it, no matter what I am doing or where I am. That's what real music does- it locks a root into you. Brad and Tom were legends
....As someone who is 60 something Years Young... I had the great pleasure of seeing this performed at a Concert in the late 70's....absolutely phenomenal. It's still at the top of Concerts I've attended, and I've attended HUNDREDS, over many years living in Vegas at the time. Mr. Brad Delp had such range ....Also, I believe he was underrated, which actually escapes me as to " why " .....his Range was incredible, his voice... unmistakable. And dare I say " Legendary "....such a loss, that he left the Earthly Plane in such an unexpected way. This song ,written by Tom Sholz, is actually quite complex, and it is NOT an easy Song to sing... I always felt that this Song was created to have Brad Delp singing it .... the whole Band is ( was ) amazing ,as far as Musicianship . Oh....and the hair ... that was one of the great things about 70's/ 80's/ 90s Music... better than all the " non- hair ' going on today ... but then again..I love long hair on men. I was a bit in awe of this mans ( Brad Delp ) gorgeous hair, eyes, and mustache.

Brad Delp could hit it like no other - RIP 😊❤
Grew up with this music, one of my favorite bands back then, had this album as a teenager, I remember several years ago after a stressful day, turned on the radio on the way home from work and this came on, I blasted it on the radio, it's how this song should be heard, lol, great stress reliever.
Long live Brad Delp - RIP - some of the best vocals ever in rock and roll!!
One of the best concerts I’ve ever been to. Love Boston. RIP Brad Delp
In 1977/ 1978 The Stash and Fro's where the rage. Add in the bell bottoms, and tank tops. Great time to be a kid.
He had pipes upon pipes…. Best male vocalist in modern times….
Saw them in concert a couple times. RIP Delp. What a voice!! The hair and mustache, yes!!! The 70's
Agree
This is the song that introduced Boston to the world...blew everyones mind.
I was 11 years old when this album was released. More Than A Feeling was a staple of fm radio for years here in Metro Detroit. This song always reminds me of warm weather and sunshine. I remember it playing in many cars while driving around with my parents. The moment when the vocals merge with the guitar is magic.
One of the greatest Rock bands of all-time; their music stands the test of time.
i remember the first time hearing boston .. scholz guitar and delps amazing vocals .. almost 50yrs ago! rip mr delp, and thank you!
The way his voice turns into the guitar, brilliant
First time hearing this was in 82 in the basement of a buddies house. From then on, I got the cassette for myself and it was my fav - played it forever. Whenever this song comes up, I will listen to it, no matter what I am doing or where I am. That's what real music does- it locks a root into you. Brad and Tom were legends
This was one of my favorite Boston songs. 70 and still love this.
Three things. 1) Sholz makes it look so damn easy. 2) Brad's voice helps define a musical time. RIP. 3) "Be you, they'll adjust". 🔥
It was always amazing because every time you thought he was as high as he could go, he would go higher...
Brad Delp has been one of my favorite vocalists of all time. Tragic life that he couldn't cope with. Boston is a true love of my youth.
Classic song. One of the best ever. Boston was a great classic rock band.
Definitely one of the best rock vocalists EVER!!!
Really sad he’s no longer with us.
....As someone who is 60 something Years Young...
