I'm getting ready to do my first DIY service on my Tacoma and your channel is my go to. It's quick, concise, but thorough enough to get the job done. Thank you both!
We love to hear it! Ask any questions along the way. I try to get back quick! Happy maintaining
@@teamoildrop Oil change was a bit messy due to a sloped driveway, but got it done. Glad to be doing it myself because the dealership must've used the air-ratchet on the filter housing. Too many ugga duggas on that thing! Swapped over to the Fumoto valve for the drain plug, and I also swapped the filter housing for the Jowett Performance housing. Worth the money to not fiddle with the plastic drain nozzle!
@@NunyaBusiness... good choice on upgrades and good job getting er done. It gets easier every time. Check out the tool less oil change vid I did to make it even easier.
@@teamoildrop I'll have to check that out this weekend when things are slow at work. 😁
Great video. The only thing I can contribute is that a little sandpaper to rough up the dipstick will make it easier to read
That’s a pro move right there! Some 60 grit should do nicely
Just a thought, buy a tarp just big enough to fit under front of truck and then get some cardboard to lay flat on top of that so fluids that spatter won't mess up that new looking driveway. My driveway has about same degree down angle. I used same set up with same ramps and it makes my vehicles level. I also decided to go with a Baxter Performance oil filter adapter kit. I don't like the canister system Toyota uses and I don't like how small the OEM filter media is for 7 quarts of oil (necessary amount once I converted to the Baxter system and using large spin on filter). So glad I found this channel as I like DIY for my 2020 taco trd off-road
I usually run a giant piece of thick old carpet to catch any small spills! Wife hates when the driveway gets dirty so i do my best ha! Baxter is GREAT so far.
Really cute helper!!! Lucky dude!!!
I know!!
Yeah, that’s a good looking German Shepherd
love the channel i have a 21 tacomaa im learning thank you
Thanks! I’ll keep posting
This is entertaining! I have a tacoma as well! Keep Tacoma segment;)
Thanks! We are editing up a new thumbnail now! new style incoming! - Lana
Good news… a 20 part series of DIY Tacoma maintenance is in the works! - Tyler
TOD, you left the oem crush washer on the drain pan. TAKE A GOOD SIZE FLATHEAD OR CHISEL AND KNOCK IT OFF. Love the channel. Lana is a little sweetie.😊
Haha! Yes off camera we pulled that guy off. It was just hanging up there!
Awesome video ! But hey where can buy those ramps you have for your Tacoma? The things you used to give it extra height
These specific ones are: Rhino Ramps (12,000 lbs) and can be had on Amazon and Walmart etc for approx $50 USD
And autozone!
Beautiful shep.
Thank you!
I am about to do my first oil change on my '23 Tacoma. Your videos are fantastic! I hope all goes as planned. I currently live in the salt belt and I was hoping to get your opinion on rust proofing. I haven't done it straight after purchase as I lived in California when I bought the truck new of the dealership. I have about the same amount of rust on the undercarriage as I can see in your video. Is it 1) worth doing still and 2) would it have been better if I did it before my first salt belt winter experience?
@@elpublic8821 thanks for the words! I actually just did a fluid film video on the channel that you’ll find some good info. I’m actually in the rust belt now too. Upstate New York. 1) it’s a MUST in the salt belt. 2) asap
How about an install video on the Toyota Glass break sensor kit to augment the factory alarm?
A good idea but not something I have needed to buy... however when I lived in hawaii... glass breaks were everywhere. In hindsight I would have got it back then. I'm extra careful these days to leave nothing of perceivable value in plain sight, bags, nothing.
Entertaining and accurate... 👍
Thanks! Another dropping tomorrow! - Lana
gret video, very detailed
Thank you! We are updating out thumbnails (this one is gonna get tacoma sassy soon) and dropping another video tonight! - Lana
Yo! Love the video bro. Did you link the Fumoto Oil drain valve? I’m going to get it before next time and thought you should get the credit. Thanks man 🙏🏻
@@adamh8494 thanks brother! It’s in the Fumoto valve video 😎
just saw that right before your reply. All ordered! Thanks again man, keep the videos coming!

What is the service interval for the oil? Synthetics can go 10K, but Tacoma discussion threads are all over the place with intervals as low as 5K. I use 7500 but now am considering 5K. Is this wasteful when using synthetic? Thanks
Toyota calls for a 10k OCI. Not going to get into the CAFE standards that pushed Toyota to this.
If the truck is operating in the severe service parameters, its lowered to a 5k OCI
Many Toyota technicians as well as engine builders/rebuilders state that a 5k OCI is much better for engine longevity.

Great video, but…you didn’t give any answers for the trivia, knew them anyway, but still!!
@@rstumbaugh43 ya know… you may be the first person ever to mention those 😆 I figured people just don’t care and stopped doing them
Where do you get the fumoto drain valve from? Is there one specific for the Tacoma?
Hey brother! Check my other video and it will lead you right to it in the description and comments. ruclips.net/video/nSv0-SoXYWI/видео.htmlsi=PdOqmpseyEHJOW0S
Great channel.
Thanks much!
What kind of washer did you use
for the drain plug? standard rubber or felt washer if I recall correctly
Thanks for the information
Your quite welcome

Lana is a cutie pie.
Still have use the torq wrench after hand tighten
It’s definitely wise to do so
Can I just hand tighten until cannot then use the torque wrench last
@@94blockmarauders07 a torque wrench is not to make something tighter, it’s to make something set to an exact tightness, which may be significantly more loose then you could tighten it by hand. Does that make sense? If doing this without a torque wrench you should not turn everything as hard as you can, you run the risk of stripping a bolt or breaking something. A torque wrench is a safety measure. I’ve done plenty of oil changes without them in my younger days, but you have to be careful.
What if I only got 6 quartz ?
Truck is 110% likely to explode before reaching end of driveway.
No you’re “okay”. If I recall it registers low on the dipstick at 6 qts but not catastrophically so. First thing in the to-do list is grab an extra 1 at to make her right.
What size hose did u use to finish out the drain on the filter?
The hose in the filter is 1/2" ID clear poly hose

Why was the check engine light on? You might have a serious issue.
It is normal for a car to show a plethora of dash lights when first turned on or in accessory mode. This is to show the lights themselves are in working order.
I love watching your videos bro. Very useful and very easy to follow. You the best. 🫡
Happy to hear that!

I have watched several of your videos and only disagree with one thing. Never use used oil to lube an o-ring or filter gasket. Use new oil only.
We appreciate the words! Used oil just tends to be the industry norm as its right there in your face vs cracking the new oil open early for the gasket. If I ever came across oil that was so dirty, viscosity thinned, or actually full of metal dust I'd join you for sure, to this date however I have never seen as such (knock on wood!) And if I did... oh we likely have much larger problems now or in the near future. Thanks again and look forward to hearing more form you! - Tyler
