    I like that you focus on keeping your balance and getting away asap.
    I learned some (very) basic TKD many years ago, but due to my (lack of) balance I had huge problems with even the basics. The instructor made it feel like it was all about standardized movements and show, rather than anything practical. I think I would have done better with Krav Maga and an instructor like this, despite my lack of balance.

    I like that situational awareness and being able to run/avoid the conflict as the first two primary steps in self defense. If they can't touch you they can't harm you. Usually you only have to run 2 maybe 3 blocks to avoid an attack. If they are bulky then they would get winded even more quickly.

  • @KarstadtTaekwondo
    @KarstadtTaekwondo 3 года назад +9

    Very professional, very thorough, very good technique with your Front Instep Kick. I have to say, your chamber of your kick is just as important as your rechamber. Why do I say that? Because your balance matters in a self defense situation. If you don't rechamber your knee, it's more than likely in the heat of battle that you'll lose your balance due to the lack of rechambering your kick. I know Krav Maga is NOT Taekwon-Do or Karate or Kung Fu or any other traditional martial art, but the same bodily mechanics matter. I can't stress that enough.

    I have been in Martial Arts a lot and tried many styles, I have sadly been involved in a few altercations in the past, let me tell you simply you do not want to fuck about, and when the time comes for you to fight to not only win but to come back home with little or no damage you will have to fight as hard as you have ever done, for me no technique is better than punching and kicking, it is natural, you do not have to think, I did not go into any stance and I suggest you do not either, putting your hands up like that really is going to do nothing but irritate someone, many fights are stopped by simply the mouth, of course some people will not listen, the majority of the time they do and a talk down technique is very effective, so for me learn how to hit hard with both fists and feet, and learn how to talk people down, keep calm is crucial, we all go through the fight of flight thing, you need to keep calm to be able to either win the fight or for the fight never to happen which I am sure you will agree is best, Krav is a good type of Martial Art do not get me wrong, all Martial Arts offer something, just for me nothing beats a hard hitting machine within a second of something kicking off, its even faster than that, once in a fight you need to take them out completely or they will do the same to you! stay safe and be aware of your environment at all times.

    Leaning back, away from the direction of the kicking motion. There is loss of power' doesn't matter front or rear leg kicking.
    Commitment of body mass in the same direction of the leg motion is where the power is.
    Point of no return.
    Your body passes the point of the non kicking leg.

      Are you OKAY bro?

    • @jasonleon1976
      @jasonleon1976 5 лет назад +3

      I don’t think you get the mechanics of the lean back. It actually generates more power by turning your pelvis into a pivot point. Creating leverage = power.
      Exactly the same principle if throwing a punch, be it a straight right or a hook. Think about it. If I’m throwing a right hook from my right side, my right shoulder is going the same direction......HOWEVER, which direction is my left shoulder travelling?.......The opposite direction!
      And why is this? Because it is the same principle as the kick. To generate power you need leverage. So with a front leg kick the pivot point is your hips.
      In Laymen terms...throw right hook, pivot hips, left shoulder opposite direction.
      Front kick, pivot pelvis, upper body opposite direction.
      If I used your logic and threw my upper body forward as I attempt a front kick. Not only will you look like a retard, you will get knocked the fuck out.
      Got to love the keyboard warriors that question the technique used by an instructor teaching a contact combat which has been going well for nearly 80 years and used worldwide by the military and law enforcement. But hey.....wtf do I know🤷‍♂️

    • @primordial.sounds
      @primordial.sounds 5 лет назад

      The upper body lean acts as a lever and the hips as a fulcrum. The lean is really to help propel the hips which in turn translates energy to the leg or workload. Simple body mechanics. Not saying your explanation is wrong, just pointing out what I've learned.

    • @primordial.sounds
      @primordial.sounds 5 лет назад +1

      What would you suggest? Trying to think of how to to do it without leaning. Maybe a lunging heel kick to the nuts? I mean, I see your point is physics based but so is the lean back.

    • @JL-wh2sf
      @JL-wh2sf 5 лет назад

      leaning body back acts like other side of seesaw. Yes, pelvis is fulcrum (middle of seesaw). Example here ruclips.net/video/Ana6KhMZaZ8/видео.html
