I've said it before and I'll keep saying it: that man is a joy to watch. Even when he's seemingly doing nothing (tapping away at his tablet), he oozes authority.

Chief looks like a real company man..very stoic...tight ..haha. I did a year plus in 8 truck after 9-11. Nice house especially now since the rebuild. They are only doing about 1000 runs year and a hell of a lot relocates. They are the 109 truck of Manhattan. Its beyond the brothers control because it’s such a tight area for firehouses. They keep them their because of the Tribeca Authority crowd demands it. 1 Truck is only 5 blocks south and 5 Truck squeezes them in on the north , so 8 response area ,1 st due, is limited. Doesn’t mean the boys don’t see work..it’s just first due work is limited. Great house I must say. A single truck in FDNY is a nice experience.

Wasn’t Ladder 8 the “Ghostbusters” house? So they’ve rebuilt it?

Ok so I have a question. I am a firefighter in Georgia. What is a “box”?

    • @SkylerFire

Ron box is the incident location

Technically in the days before 911 phone system every corner in NYC had a red box. If you pulled the handle it transmitted a telegraph signal to dispatch that some had activated the alarm. Dispatch didnt know what the call was for and the person who pulled it was supposed to stay at the box. In later years aka the 80s the boxes became digital and you could push a button for either fire or PD and a dispatcher would answer and take info down. The boxes covered specific geographic zones and got the proper duty assignments. The boxes are still active in many parts of the city.
