Was just in Greece and could not believe how much better, thicker and creamier “the sauce” is there. Decided I needed to make my own and this recipe did not disappoint. Better than i hVe had anywhere in the US. Great recipe, so yummy. Thank you.
I hate dill and this tzatziki is perfect for me! Being pregnant and craving tzatziki with fresh baguette 😍 you saved me!! My Greek friends who lives in Belgium also really like you tzatziki (she doesn't like dill either). Thank you for the recipe!!
Love the recipe and I notice you have the “ pampered Chef” garlic press. My best friend bought the exact same one almost 25 years ago at a Pampered Chef party and we’ve used it for now probably 1000s of times. You’ll be passing that down one day, their made for life.
I replayed the beginning a bunch of times. So fun and cheerful! - Also Greek people always have the most perfect teeth!? I mean my teeth are fine but why do I always see/notice this perfection???
Totally. I ate a lot of garlic when my blood pressure was at 170/110 and when I went back to the doctor my blood pressure dropped all the way down to 124/66 cause I ate a lot of garlic and onions and I eliminated salt and sugar.
I pretty much followed this recipe except I used nonfat plain Greek yogurt, because it was readily available, and added enough sour cream to reach 5% fat. Turned out great.
Perfect as is, and with room to play with it Try it with 10% fat Cabot yogurt and some heat. It’s almost Indian at that point innit 🤷🏻♂️ but who cares if it’s delicious
Sounds like a great idea. Personally, I wouldn't add it to the tzatziki because if it sits for a few days, it will get a very strong onion taste. But add it to a sandwich for sure!
I was looking for ina garten’s tzatziki recipe and stumbled across yours. I’ve always bought it at the store before. NEVER AGAIN!! This was so good!!! I used all the garlic because I love garlic, but I also added mint (would have used dill but only had mint on hand) and a good sprinkle of oregano. Greek food is my absolute favorite. I could eat it every day. Now I’m off to look at all your other recipes!
☺️H!! The....Bliss!! I had Tzaziki with every authentic (Greek)meal on my 2nd Hols to Greece this Month....[just back Thurs 19th Oct':~& I just cannot live without it now! I want to make my own & am changing to 'Fage' Yoghurt, as the 3 big tubs I buy were ok for Yoghurt....albeit, not any more!! Thank you🙏🏽👨🏽🍳for this Recipe;~ but I bought some 'Dried Tzaziki Herbs' especially for making it ...& you haven't included in your Recipe👨🏽🍳! Why not & can I use them in it🤔?👨🏽🍳.👍🏼😊
Absolutely love your approach to cooking and life choices :D Full fat when needed! Fat is not bad, it's all about portions (size and how many) and general health by exercising and staying fit. Stay away form the bad things or at least minimize alcohol, chips, candy, sodium rich foods and sugary drinks. And get lots of fresh air. Go biking and hiking! Final piece of advice. Eat lots of of cruciferous vegetables (kale, broccoli, sprouts etc.), pesto or basil, garlic and ginger! Then you die happy at 100+.
Minimize/eliminate added sugar. Simple to eliminate sugary drinks and candy as you said. Then look at labels and try to avoid "Added sugar" - has its own line on the nutrition label. Sugar is used in everything. And it could be called a poison for all the harm it does.
I have seen many recipes for this. This is exceptional. The more garlic the better in my opinion. I am not Greek, however a lot of my Greek friends have used sour cream in addition to yogurt.. thoughts? Very nice video
Thanks! Pro tip. If the tzatziki sits for a day or two the garlic begins to ferment and the taste gets stronger! I love it. I have to say, I’ve never heard of using sour cream. But with a full fat Greek yogurt you’ll get the best creaminess.
add another half cucumber, a little more white wine vinegar, half olive oil, half garlic, oregano not needed, use just a little mint if you dont like dill
That sounds great! Unfortunately it’s very hard to fin 10% yogurt in my area of the US, especially an authentic greek yogurt. The best option would be to make your own yogurt, which there will be a video on how to do that too!
Excellent Tzatziki, but if available try using Lebni (full fat kefir) instead of the Greek yogurt to make a truly authentic and delicious middle eastern Tzatziki.
No dill? No mint? Sure why not. Dips are like jazz, one can riff and see what happens. The sauce police are gonna gripe. It's what they do. Marjoram? Sage? Basil? Hey, I'm riffing here.
Listen, if you like dill, fresh or out of a shaker, use it. Otherwise, let people make it the way they like it. By the way, there's no way i'm using that much garlic.
@@theevankaras I copied your recipe to a tee nd it was burning. I deeply regret following it exactly because it would’ve came out great with just 2-3 cloves.
I’m glad you tried the recipe! I’m sure everyone has their tastes. It’s good to know however. I hope it works out for the next time you try it with 2 cloves. My family and I definitely prefer more garlic.
Don’t want to be rude, but where is that a written rule? Also, recipes in general, should be able to allow for variations. This is how all dishes that we know today are formed. If people don’t try different things the we wouldn’t have 99% of what we have right now. I’m certainly not a trailblazer for excluding dill, but I think it wouldn’t hurt to expand your horizons, my friend. You might just find that you like what you find…

Thank you so much! That’s great to hear. I hope you also enjoyed your stay in the most beautiful country in the world!

Or pad Thai with out fish sauce.
I’m happy to ward off people who don’t like garlic! Can’t wait to make this when I get up tomorrow morning.
This sauce changed my life!!! Can’t believe I went soooo long without trying this sauce.
Welcome to life after tzatziki!
Another great recipe Evan outstanding recipe finally a Chef with a sense of humor and no Ego
Haha, maybe just a little bit of ego ;) glad you liked it!
I hate dill and this tzatziki is perfect for me! Being pregnant and craving tzatziki with fresh baguette 😍 you saved me!! My Greek friends who lives in Belgium also really like you tzatziki (she doesn't like dill either). Thank you for the recipe!!
I made this but added the dill and some of my homegrown oregano and homemade Greek yogurt, also added my own Greek spice blend. Yummo
Sounds delicious. I hope that you enjoyed it!
@@theevankaras it was spectacular, thank you!

Good job Evan. Perfect recipe for perfect Tzatziki. Full fat Yogurt was the proper choice.
I replayed the beginning a bunch of times. So fun and cheerful! - Also Greek people always have the most perfect teeth!? I mean my teeth are fine but why do I always see/notice this perfection???
Glad you liked my video!
Just made this. Omg delicious. I added dill and more salt but it was delicious 🤤
Tatziki without dill or even mint, but instead a bunch of garlic? Sounds like aloi
Wh..wha.. WHAT??? No dill?!! No dill, is a big DILL! You need DILL!! 😮😮😮
No dill? It's a crime😮
a big dill 😂😂😂
I do like dill so i will add some but love garlic and i will follow your recipe thank you 🎉
Garlic is for the soul 😎
King of all condiments.
Long live the king!
Just made it while here in Hurricane Debby! So yummy. 4 CLOVES for me! NC Coast
Gotta make this !! Garlic is so healthy helps for high blood pressure
Totally. I ate a lot of garlic when my blood pressure was at 170/110 and when I went back to the doctor my blood pressure dropped all the way down to 124/66 cause I ate a lot of garlic and onions and I eliminated salt and sugar.
Been following this every time I make some and it’s SO GOOD THANK YOU SO MUCH! Love from Sweden 🇸🇪 ❤
That’s very good to hear! Share it with all of Sweden 🇸🇪
YAY! I love garlic and Tzatziki
Iv made it once had to check out your video to see if there's much difference. I used some dill in mine... Love the video
I love it without the dill too. Great recipe, thank you.
I use it with mint dry or fresh & dry basil or any herbs you like, still comes beautifully delicious 😋
Put less garlic.
I’d rather be single. 😂
❤
Greek olive oil is fantastic also. 👍👍
Looks yummy cheers ❤

I made it!!! It was AWESOME thank you SO MUCH
I just returned from my first trip to Athens and Crete and this recipe is pretty legit
Looks so good.
Thank you!
might sound weird to some people, but chopped red onion and parsley is really good in this sauce too
we usually have red onion and maybe parsley in gyros which has tzatziki, so yes they go well together
Sounds like a great idea. Personally, I wouldn't add it to the tzatziki because if it sits for a few days, it will get a very strong onion taste. But add it to a sandwich for sure!

And possibly extra garlic 😂😊❤❤

thank you ! I don't like dill either! this is how i found this video!
Looks the goods mate
My family are from Crete and we never add dill to our tzatziki! I find it strange that every recipe calls for it in the US
I love Tzatziki
Tzatziki is the love language of the world 🌍
I love garlic 🧄& taziki 😅
Where’s the link to the olive oil?
What kind of beef do I buy for a soft stake.
Love this recipe! Cos I hate dill too!!
You can add mint/parsley instead of dill.
Love making fresh tzatziki, but add fresh dill, mint and scallions.
LOVELY THANKS YOU GOODNESS 🌟 DAPHNE COTTON ALWAYS 💜 AWESOME
I will try this, but with roasted garlic and dill.
Update! I made it with the roasted garlic & dill, then ran it through the blender. This is sooooo good. Thank you.
No dill no autenticy 💟 except for improvisation
It seems to be authentic if it's made by an authentic Greek ;)
I don't like dill either. Thanks for the recipe.😊
Thanks for liking
You can replace the dill with Mint or coriander
Can i use dried Rosemary instead of oregano
omg never!!!!!!!!???!!!@
You need 10% fat joghurt not 5%, it's easier to remove the excess water of the cucumber by just removing the center before grating.
That sounds great! Unfortunately it’s very hard to fin 10% yogurt in my area of the US, especially an authentic greek yogurt. The best option would be to make your own yogurt, which there will be a video on how to do that too!
Evan, you don't like Dill either? Just subscribed. 😁
Thanks for the love!
pepper in tzadziki should be sended to court!
Perfect without Dill 🤩
I like to use cabot 10% milk fat Greek yogurt.
it was so good my relatives turned into bats upon biting it
Why kosher salt?
I very much like-a 😂😂

Hey, I'm riffing here.
I am sf my whole life first time I see someone using oregano
First time for everything. Give it a try. That’s the beauty of food, everyone contributes new ideas.
No dill added.. it’s not tatziki 😂
Τζατζίκι λέγεται!
I assure you, it is definitely TZatziki
❤
No dill, no vinegar. = NO TZATZIKI !!!
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS "TOO MUCH GARLIC" 😁
You left out mint. I love it with mint.
I too skip the dill and instead use fresh mint.
So happy you didn't use dill. I don't like it either
You forgot to put salt on cucumbers which draws out the liquid and then you squeeze it out
I make mine with sour cream instead of yougart
I would suggest replacing oregano with mint.
I like dill
5% full fat? Or did I miss anything?
NEVER too much garlic
Where’s fresh lemon juice?
Greeks don’t use lemon juice in Tzatziki. Turks do though
Here "full fat yoghurt" means 10%, not 5% :D
I really like the taste of fresh mint in my sauce
No Dill? Its a crime😮
Thanks for sharing a recipe with out drill, I don't like it either.
You need dill. Plain and simple.
don't you mean white wine vinegar? lol
Tzatziki without dills is a crime. SORRY 😞
He doesn’t like it though…

@@theevankaras ❤️
If mint and lemon juice, it becomes Turkish :)
Good recipe. But use greek yoghurt with 10% fat.
no dill?!
You put oregano but no dill???? Definitely not tzatziki
It need dill to be authentic i tink
sans dill? 😂
Goodness please don’t add 4-5 cloves of garlic. Unless u want burn up ur sauce.
It’s tzatziki, not cucumber yogurt. It’s supposed to have a lot of garlic. That’s the authentic Greek way.
