My gear used to be heavy like yours, but I switched over to a lighter weight setup that all fits into a carry on bag. You may like it too! -Amaran 60D S with NPF batteries so I don't need to worry about plugging in or wires dangling. -34" silver reflective umbrella that I bounce the light off of. Gives me great soft light. Replaces my soft boxes and is much lighter. -Matthews MERF Mini Extendable Reverse Stands. Lightweight, folds up small, and extends to 7 feet. Of course, every situation is different, but this setup makes it a lot easier to carry around and is lighter.
So these places you do demo shoots for, do you just walk in some place and say what's up or do you frequent an establishment first and make friends with them for a bit before you pop the question? I'm mostly asking because I'm curious on the success rate of people agreeing to the demo shoot.
So, for my cocktail bar clients, I did frequent those places before offering the demo shoot, but honestly, I’ve been doing a whole bunch of cold calling this week offering demo shoots to places like med spas and dental practices and they’ve all been super interested in having me come out to shoot a free piece of content for them. I’m definitely not expecting a majority of them to sign on for a monthly content plan, but it’s still a win because I’m growing my portfolio and my connections. I do feel pretty confident that I’ll get a deal or two out of the free demo shoots this month though, Several of the people I’ve talked to have said that they are actively looking to start growing their social media presence.
