Loved how you took every step while explaining the details. My husband REALLY needed the details. Anyway, you're humble enough to show a mistake, then how you corrected the mistake. Bravo!!!
Greetings from San Antonio. Thank you!!! My wife and I truly appreciated this video. Step by step instructions on how to install vyniel flooring. This is our first project and we're nervous but with this video and teaching form you, we hope it turns out just like your floor. God bless.
Excellent video with a lot of matter of fact information as if you were standing right there versus sitting in a classroom. This young woman has actual talent and a very rare skill of communicating it to everyone who doesn't naturally have a creative or handyman gene. Thank you for taking the time and creating a very informative video.
Loved your instructions. Everything was totally understsndable. I am attempting my first floor at 72 years of age, female, and have never heard of a tapping block, spacer, carpenter square before! Much less used one. So I bought a kit, wish me luck with the math!!!💕😇thanks again for sharing.,,I'll be watching more of U.
Thanks for making it so simple. I've watched several guys install luxury vinyl tile and it made hesitate to start my project. 22min. On your vid and I'm calling to buy the tile now.
I'll be laying my new floor in Jan. So I've been watching all the videos I can. This is the first video that mentioned the obvious that I hadn't thought about. Measuring side to side I learned , this allows to plan that a narrow width plank doesn't end up being laid at the end. BUT no other video I've watched cover the length also!! It's obvious but I really hadn't thought of it nor had it been covered in other videos I've studied. Thanks....shows that we need to watch all that we can in order to learn since we are not professionals. Thanks and thanks for the view ;-)
Thanks for taking the time to make this video. I'm skilled in many areas of construction, but I have never used this product before. You just saved me a bunch of headaches by watching your video before installing. I love that you're teaching your kids too. Thank you:)
DIVA... YOU DID THAT! OMG.. WHAT A WONDERFUL JOB. YOU ARE GIFTED WITH YOUR HANDS AND YOUR KNOWLEDGE ON LAYING THIS FLOORING IS INVALUABLE! THANKS SO MUCH FOR SHARING! I AM ARMED NOW, WITH A WEALTH OF KNOWLEDGE TO DO MY OWN FLOOR! KUDOS! TELL THE KIDS DANCE WITH ALL THEIR MIGHT LIKE JACOB DID!
Just watched your video as I’m about to embark on a vinyl flooring project. I watched around 30 videos and yours was the most helpful!! Thank you so much!
This was probably the most helpful video I've seen. As a mom who tries to teach & involve my son in all projects, It was nice to see a mom showing her son a few things.
Awesome job. If it is any comfort at all, we also mis-measured several cuts when we installed flooring. If I may so bold to say, unlike some comments who compliment you as a woman doing a great job, we think you did a great job as a DIY'er... PERIOD! Looking forward to seeing more.
Dude, this is a sexiest comment. Basically you're saying "I'm a man so I'm obviously qualified and competent to judge your woman's work and you did a good job." I'm a dinosaur too so I get it, but we have to be careful how we say things.
Gawd!!! I appreciate your transparency on doing this job!! I'm still doing the financial planning of my shed...and then going on to the flooring... your videos are 1-4 years old...but your information is day 1 with me... sincerely from Alabama...Thank You 🌹🫂🌹🫂👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
You are so welcome!! That's what I love about RUclips: doesn't matter how old the video is--if it's helpful then, it's helpful now :) Thank you, and please let me know how it goes for your shed!
Been there and done it with a door. I went to work the next day and the shop teacher chuckled at me and said, "Measure twice, look at it all again and cut once." After I slapped him we hugged and laughed as he had a student cut two new small doors for a cabinet. Mistakes are part of the learning process. No matter what I think you are an amazing person. Thanks for teaching us new ways to improve our homes.
Measure twice, yeeessss! I've gotten much better at measuring and cutting with fewer mistakes, but it never fails to have at least a couple mishaps! Great learning experiences indeed. :)
My folks are big DIYers and are very good at it. Growing up, "home" always smelled like drywall, paint, sawdust, stain, and varnish. Lots of quality time helping and "helping" them remodel.
Best way to start is to start with full plank 1st row. 1/4 plank 2nd row.3/4 plank 3rd row....start with those 3 rows across the room then adjust if needed for final piece.
Love that your children enjoyed and tried to help out with your project! Love their dance competition! Hahaha! It made me laugh. Beautiful work! Thanks for sharing!!
Wow, I learned more from your video than any others I have seen, you did a great job and you explained everything so well. You should be very proud of your work. Thank you for this video. 😀
We are in the middle of installing life proof flooring from Home Depot in our upstairs guest bathroom. We have already put it in our master bath, half bath downstairs and in our kitchen. We just love it! I have been tapping in using the foam edge and rarely chipped it but I like the way you used the floor lip better. Hubby has been going up and down stairs to cut pieces. Today I'm going to try snapping it. Thank you for this video and your job looks great.
YAY, glad I could help! Yeah--definitely try snapping it. No need to go back and forth to cut, unless you're doing around corners. Good luck with your projects!
Serena you're such an inspiration, you put so much effort into your projects and the results reflect this. Loving your instructions so informative and your voice overs make for an overall stressfree and soothing tutorial 👍
Sometimes vinyl flooring goes on sale at Costco. Usually around Christmas time. It’s kinda hilarious it’s on sale at that time of year. Love the look of this flooring!! Beautiful. Life proof is such a good brand!
That's good to know! This vinyl flooring was about $2.99/sq. ft. I'm sure I could have gotten it cheaper if I had waited until a holiday sale, but I ordered it sometime in December and I don't think it was on sale at the time.
@@mermaiddiyartist8119 Yeah, this one stood out to me at the store and I kept looking at it...looking at it...and was like, "Okay, it's time to move forward!" :) So glad I did!
Lifeproof wear layer is very thin. 6mil. NuCore wear layer is 22mil. And $2.79 sq ft. Floor and decor. If you go with their DuraLux performance brand it’s a 12 mil for $2.29 sq ft. Much better price for double the wear layer.
WOW! This turned out absolutely fabulous. Love that you showed your mistakes also, we all make them. Really love how it turned out. Great job Serena, on the floor and the tutorial. Thank you for all the tips as well.
SHOWING ME HOW TO MEASURE MY FOOR ❤ YES THANK YOU FOR THIS TIP SERIOUSLY NO ONE ADDS THE HOW TO MEASURE TIPS ****** saving vid !!! Project supplies purchased today !!!! Omg wish me luck , thanks again great video
Tapping blocks usually have a double step on one side (shown at 14:08), that fits better and does not damage the tung. Also when hammering the ends down, make sure they don't get damaged. I lift the center of the plank up slightly and tuck the end grooves in a little. You video is very well planned out. Thank you for the info.
This is beautiful. And thanks for including the do's and don'ts. I have been wanting to replace our carpet with these planks but have been really hesitant. Your tutorial has moved me closer to making that dream a reality. Thank you so much.

Great info ..........I bought this same flooring about a week ago and just finished the prep work & I'm about 2 tackle this installation project as well on 11 15 21..........like 16,424......Mark
Thanks! I staggered all the planks that needed to be. Since their multi-width planks, it may seem like you're supposed to stagger all of them, but from their instructions, the 5.5" and the 4.5" planks are one unit, and the large 10" plank is a unit. I staggered the units, not the individual boards. That is how the instructions are.
This video was so great to view at the start of my project. Love the layman's (woman's) term and approached. Really helped me get started. Thank you for taking the time to share.
Before: I don't think it's going to look good 🤔 (the color is to dark). After: I like it very much! 👍 🤗 Not that you should care what I or anyone else thinks because a lot of work went into that project. Job well done. 💃 Thirty years ago I would have followed your lead. Very, very impressive work! Thank you for sharing.

Forget spacers for this. Paint sticks are 1/4 thick. I lay one against the wall lengthwise at each end of tile length....tack top edge of paint sticks with tape. Voila! Perfect!
@@ThriftDiving 22:42 MIN not hours =D hahaha It was perfect, very detailed and easy to follow ;-) Unfortunately I'm living in a rented full carpet floor apartment, but never know if one day your video will be useful for me too =D xoxo
One you have the first row done, you use the off cut from the end of the row, as the starting piece for the beginning of the next row and it nearly always works out with the correct stagger, plus very little wastage.
Yes, great point. I did that for some of my boards. I may have forgotten to include that. But it does cut down on waste. However, with this particular flooring, it may not work all the time because the boards in this brand/color are different colors. So it's more than just staggering the seam but also staggering the colors. But even if I didn't use the cut off piece for the start of the next row, I saved those pieces and reused them for start pieces when the color fit into the pattern, if that makes sense.
Pretty good job of installing this floor - better than most of the cowboys on youtube attempting to fit floors. I do have a concern though........ these planks come in 3 different widths... Im pretty sure they are meant to be installed using the same size (width) planks down the run from wall to wall, and then the next run use a different width. What you have done is use different widths in the same run, which has resulted in no spacing of the boards between rows - you have all the corners meeting in the same place and I think this could compromise the stability of the floor. Looks nice though.
I like a scrap piece for tapping block for me less damage and esier on my back plus I use yard sticks against the wall for spacing. Not criticizing you did good . Just tricks I've used in the years of doing flooring
I hope so! I did find a hairline leak in the basement stairwell area so I had to pull up a few feet of flooring by that door. I'll need to repair that and then reattach th rows of flooring. But it should be an easy fix! :)
Thank you. I am considering this flooring and was wondering how hard it might be for me to install myself. You did an wonderful job explaining possible errors that can happen and how to trim and cut the planking. I feel this is a job that I can do myself. Now to decide the color that I want to have in my home.
Don't get the variable width. It just adds more chaos to the installation. Get the 7 inch flooring. Just got done with our DIY install and can't imagine how hard it would have been with different widths.
WOW!!!!!! hat off to you you😀 your floor looks so so beautiful. Your so inspiring!!! I love watching your accomplishments. I have learned so much from your other makeover videos. Thanks for sharing your time with us!!☺

such a beautiful transformation! the floor looks amazing and between that and the new baseboard you should be safe from water damage
I hope so! I did find a hairline leak in the basement stairwell area so I had to pull up a few feet of flooring by that door. I'll need to repair that and then reattach th rows of flooring. But it should be an easy fix! :)
Thank you for sharing this awesome DIY video; it was very detailed and easy to follow. Love it!
So awesome! We are renovated our new home

Omg you are amazing! I have wanted to do my bedroom and although I’m pretty handy around the home, this flooring and messing business had me freaking out at just the thought of it. You have simplified it and made it clear and easy to follow. Thank you! Thank you! I wanna squeeze you right now! 😂
