    Most of the Bathroom LVP installation tutorials I saw didn't show you how to deal with flattening a tile floor and backfilling dramatic grout lines. I showed how to do this and make a "seamless" transition from the hallway into the bathroom. Below I'll leave links to more How to install LVP in a Bathroom videos for you to learn from that show different scenarios. Thanks for watching and if you've got helpful comments, please leave them below!

    Hi, My name is Mike Montgomery and I'm a MAKER; a designer, builder, and full-time content creator. Accessibility is my focus with Modern Builds, not simply accessibility of designs, but accessibility in materials, information, and projects themselves. I've focused on creating furniture and DIY projects that are simple enough that any beginner maker can accomplish, yet interesting enough that any expert might be inspired. Building and making is becoming less and less of an exclusive hobby and profession. My goal is to reduce that separation even further.

    Toilet flanges are technically supposed to go over the finished floor. If you install the toilet back as it is, you won’t get a proper seal. There are rubber extension gaskets you can use in this situation, but there’s always an increased risk of leaking anytime you use something like that. Replacing and raising the flange is always the best and safest choice, but it can obviously be prohibitively difficult or expensive in some circumstances.

    • @stevehamman4465
      @stevehamman4465 8 месяцев назад

      You can remove baseboards. Be careful, not to break them. Protect the wall with a small piece of flooring material when prying. They have fancy tools for this if you want to spend the money!😅 If your new flooring is going to be lower than the old, the base will be also, so the walls will need some attention, paint aand such! Pull the nails out of the base from the backside , dont push them back out the front, it may chip wood and paint! Theres plenty of videos on this on utube! Good luck!

    A messy handyman updated my house so iam worried he did not install the right stuff under toilet. I am afraid if only one wax ring was installed under toilet i wont noticed if the toilet starts leaking:( iam afraid water just go in between tile and lvp flooring...should I install double wax rings to make toilet flundge level with lvp floor??? Well done job! But it's not waterproof between the planks? Or is it special vinyl flooring, specifically made so it doesn't bubble up when wet over time?

    • @Esiddik
      @Esiddik 8 месяцев назад +3

      LVP aka luxury Vinyl Planks are usually 100% waterproof because they are make of 100% plastic, so they will never ever bubble up. There are a rare few that are water resistant for 24 hours because they have some wood/ cork middle.
      So the packaging will tell you right away.

    • @Rizko505
      @Rizko505 8 месяцев назад

      @@Esiddikoh makes sense if it's out of plastic. But I'm also worried it would flow under the flooring and cause mold

    • @Esiddik
      @Esiddik 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@Rizko505 yes good point. Typically the joints are pretty tight so that’s not usually an issue if water is spilled ( up to x hours indicated on manufacture box) BUT yes, if the toilet leaks it will take a bit longer for you to discover. Also, typically people will tile their bathrooms and LVP the rest of the house (best of both worlds) for safety measures but…. How often does a toilet ACTUALLY leak lol
      A lot to consider. 😅

    the tiles in my bathroom are significantly smaller but same thin grout lines, thinking about doing the same to my bathroom except I may skip the leveling compound, figure i have extra flooring from the rest of the house if i had to do it again in a few years it wouldnt be too bad. Also kinda curious was googling about what to do with the toilet flange, most information says you want the flange flush with the floor but i see yours is just under the height of the flooring. Im assuming you've had no problems with it being a hair low.

      when i did mine i had a terrible cracks on mine so i covered them one by one with hydraulic cement by sika (plug) then laid a kerdi membrane on top. kerdi was quite pricey and probably overkill. but i dont wanna go thru this again in the next 5-10years. then i glued each vinyl flooring just to make sure i dont have any holes that water can come thru. and so far i never had any problems till now
      btw if you decide to go with kerdi. go overlap it to wall to the trim and then caulk the corners on trim and bottom. just so if ever water penetrates inside the trim you'll be safe with the layer of kerdi inside it.
