Nice too see you back again Cobus. Ek het ook in Humansdorp gebly: 1977- 1983. Laerskool Stulting, en een van net 'n handvol Engelssprekendes. haha Spoke more Afrikaans than English those days, which was great as a little kid (to set me up to never have to "learn" it in school, it was 2nd nature), left when I was 8. I have learnt in life to never underestimate anybody based on where they come from, but still so proud for me to see somebody so awesome as you come from "our" little town.

I absolutely love how he still bobs his head during the quiet parts, you can tell that he still hears the drums in his head. That’s a true musician. I remember a quote from Cobus that said “I don’t play drums for money or fame, I play drums because I simply can’t help it.” I love that quote, I love his passion and drive and I truly wish I could feel that way about my hobbies.

It's crazy your probably my top favorite drummer of all time and I like a lot of drummers but not cause you have the best technique but for your creativity, it always blows me away how you come up with different things to say using your drum voice.

When I started drumming I loved how creativity just absolutely levels the playing field - a beginner with a fresh approach might be able to come up with more creative parts than the most technically proficient drummer in the world. I love that, there's a freedom in creativity that breaks free from the "competition" of skill. So this compliment means a lot, after all these years! Thank you.
