Love the way every drum cover arrangement has been about complimenting the melody, the tone and the vibe and not just about hitting the coolest fills but making sure it elevates the song.
That means a lot, thank you! I love the idea of people feeling what I feel when I play covers, and the best way I've found to do that is to "work with the song" and maybe just try and amplify what's already there.
Cobus. Thank you. I'm 53. I started my serious drumming life in the SF Bay area playing the clubs back in the late 80's. I had a family and and Air Force career at the time and the 3 didn't gel well together. Fast forward 20 some years and I had basically given up on serious drumming until I found your videos. My son mentioned you to me when I was stationed in Japan around 2008. From that point on, you have been a serious inspiration to me and I credit you for my getting back into the local music scene once again. Thank you! Thank you, Thank you! Cobus is so underrated. To be able to play a mellow song without losing the feel and essence of it is a skill that I've almost never come across other than when Cobus covers something. It's beautifully wholesome to watch a drummer have such accurate dynamic control despite the genre or energy of the original song. In fact, I often enjoy and prefer his versions of songs cause they add so much more character to it. Those rhymes in the outro though. They gotta go xD

So...long story short I fell in love with this song today...and I wanted to watch a drum cover of it if there was any, because 10 years ago I discovered this guy on RUclips named Cobus who did drum covers of my favorite songs at that time. It's a fun alternate to the studio recording, right? Guess which video showed up when I searched for this song? Thanks, Cobus. You're an amazing talent and you're always there when I need you. I'm just going to throw this out there. I have been watching cobus since I slapped my first stick to my first snare. I have always been concerned that as Cobus grew in both views and in skills he would plateau and not be able to give that "Holy crap" moment anymore. I have never been more wrong. At this point, it's all about song choice and who likes what songs because he completely destroys (in a good way) every track he lays his sticks on. I pray the channel revives again if that's the direction he wants to go because he truly deserves it. One drummer to another, you have done so much for me and you have no idea! I too plan on getting back out there soon and you are just the catalyst I need! Thank you for coming back!
