Thank you so much for this inspiring video! I am only 20 years old, and you have changed my life. You really gave me a reality check as to what my priorities truly are and where my true passion lies: wanting to help people. I was enticed by IT, cyber security, and hacking because it sounded cool and working in such a field can make you feel dignified and have a sense of purpose. But I noticed at my University that the most rewarding thing was helping my fellow students who struggled to learn concepts, and me being able to help them with HW assignments because I put in the work to learn the material. I know exactly what it feels like to feel stupid at times, and not learn effectively. Although I am not fully sure of what I want to become, I think my new purpose is to start learning about cognitive science, and learning efficiency so I can become a better teacher. Cheers UnixGuy!

Just watched this video after u referred me to it. Gotta say, much respect to you. I’m actually an IT guy with 8 years of experience trying to get into cybersecurity as a pen tester. My story is odd. I have a decent paying “safe” job. Unfortunately there aren’t much cybersecurity roles where I work at so I will need to make the choice to leave. Accepting the risks and rewards to that path is both at the same time exciting and frightening. I just had a newborn and just purchased a house so I’m more motivated now than ever. I plan to break into that role within 1-2 years time 🙏.

The video is truly impressive. As a computer science student, I have completed numerous programming, algorithm, database, web, and system analysis and design courses. I am now considering becoming a web penetration tester. I am curious if the knowledge and skills I have gained in these areas would be applicable to penetration testing. Furthermore, if this knowledge is valuable, is it worthwhile to invest a significant amount of time in it, such as with databases, or focus more on penetration tester topics from the beginning and follow the professors in university for graduate only? This is because I am still in university.

Go to a interview and explain all the vulnerabilities a company has and inform them that you want 120k a year and you will minimise the vulnerability and keep the network infrastructure safe. That's what I did. Now, I'm earning 150k a year. Life is good. Take risks and prosper. ( learn ethical hacking and never stop learning until you are the best).

I'm not sure but I think I would've done the same, even liking the offensive side. But the reason why maybe I wouldn't shift to Pentesting is because after growing so much professionally, I think I would give myself a time to settle instead of making the effort to shift since would've grown so much already, in other words, I think after all that, I would relax a little bit.

Btw, threat hunting already is something that I have some interest already, and it sounds a little bit offensive. I think I would be ok with doing reports for pentesting but if it’s the most part of the job, that would make it boring for me, which wouldn’t sound like what most people think when they hear pentesting or red teaming. I would love to see a video about it (threat hunting) here in the channel.

If you are doing pentest, you have less time for engagement and reporting can be a 20% of the time but its also time for me tu just shut down my brain and chill. First of all, I want to deeply thank you for all the help you've provided to so many people through your videos. Your passion and dedication in the world of cybersecurity have been a source of inspiration for me.
I'm in a situation where I feel I've wasted some years of my life, and at 23, I'm just starting my studies in Computer Engineering. My goal is to dive into the world of cybersecurity and work in it. Given that I'm not as young as many who start in this field, I'd like to ask you for advice: What would you recommend I do to catch up quickly in this domain? Do you think it's possible for someone my age to become a successful ethical hacker?

Hi, thank you so much for your videos!
Hoping that my question is not too generic, I'd like to get some advice: I am a 17 years old guy who's so passionate about IT, and in the final year of high school.
I've always aspired to become a backend developer, however, in recent months, I started considering cybersecurity, which I find really interesting. Soon, I'll be deciding which career path to take in university, and I want to figure stuff out before doing it.
I need to know if Cybersecurity is what I actually want to do, so I decided to start following the introduction course of TryHackMe.
Do you think it's enough? What would you advice me?
Thank you for your time! ❤️

    • @UnixGuy
      @UnixGuy  Год назад +1

      Hey Xene,
being a developer or working in cyber security are both great fields. it’s hard to know what its actually like to do the job until you do it for few years, also every company is different, so your experience will vary signifinicantly.
TryHackMe is good but it’s about Penetration Testing which is a small specialisation within cyber security. I have a couple of videos for you to watch to help you decide:
      1) Computer Science vs Cyber Security
      ruclips.net/video/ys-_xQHaYAc/видео.html
      2) How I would Learn Cybersecurity today:
