    Correction at 514: 78 kWh is the gross usable battery (same as all previous Polestar 2s with this pack) - the net capacity is more like 75 kWh! Similar buffer/specs on the single motor - the 82 kWh is gross and NOT net!

    • @iMaxPatten
      @iMaxPatten Год назад +2

      And CATL makes the new 82 kWh pack! It's got 3 more modules (27 vs 24) than the old LG 78 kWh pack and actually does have *slightly* newer chemistry which also helps explain the charging improvements.

    • @lanceareadbhar

      For the 82 kWh gross battery version, the net is 79 kWh, correct? I got confused seeing three numbers when I usually only see two, one being net and the other being gross.

      One more goodie: the new front motor is induction so it can be shut off and leave the rear permanent magnet to do its thing - that's a big part of how the non-performance Dual Motor will now be slightly more efficient. Love it!

I've never had a problem with the '21 Dual Motor's range or charging speed and even after more than 2 years behind the wheel, it still puts a smile on my face and makes me look back when I leave it behind in a parking lot.

    Model range comparisons [2:15] - looking at the UK configurator it's a little different from what you're being offered in the US. I'd guess it's the same in the rest of Europe.
    4 model levels - 1 "standard range" 69kWh Single Motor and 3 Long Range 82kWh: SM, Dual Motor & DM Perferomance.
    The Long Range Single Motor has the best WLTP range but the 2 Dual Motor options don't suffer too much.
    One day you'll have a US Polestar factory (starting with the SUV Polestar 3) and then this brand will really take off in America I think.

    I was leasing Ioniq 5, lease is up, and was looking for a new car. I'm not a fan of Tesla interior and I briefly had Model Y and it had some serious issues where I had to return it since for the 3 month I had it, I drove it for 2 weeks at most, it was being fixed the rest of the time. So, no Tesla for me. Ioniq 5 is abeautiful car, but where I live the CCS network was a bit of a downfall. For most daily driving, I didn't have any issues, and car was a dream! The issue was road trips, and the fact it won't be until (I think) mid 2025 that It will get NACS access (Hyundai/Kia), I was looking at cars with NACS now, and I test drove a Polestar, I fell in love with it. Its smaller than Hyundai, and Frankly, despite not having AWD, I'm going for a Long Range Single Motor Plus (with Pilot pack) for me, with 19" tires, and the only choice I have to make is the color: Thunder or Midnight.... THunder seems to fit these cars. So, Ioniq 5 is going back to dealership as lease is over, I will miss that car, but I rarely ever had it charge at its full capacity, most times using 150 kwh chargers. Polestar 2 charge curve seems nice, performance on RWD is nice, so I am likely to pick it up as soon as I choose the color (I'm leanign towards thunder with upgraded light color interior). \BTW, I used to have Volv S60R, and that AWD car had similar specs as Polestar 2 LRSM, but new EV is faster by about 1 sec. 0-60, where as it has maybe more torque, but one less hp (I think VOlvo was about 300hp and about same torque). Way to go Polestar! :) TThats performance enough to me, and frankly, Polestar with NACS is car for me. I did look at Mustang Mach-E, it is larger, which would have been nicer, but this is goign to be a good daily driver, and road trip car for work. As much as I would like Ohlins and performance pack, I rather the 205 kwh charge speed, and range is nice.

    RWD is the way to go. Too many people have been duped by the media into thinking they need AWD. If you have driving skills and winter tires [for those in the snow belt] the much more efficient RWD is the obvious answer. Why pay thousands more for less range?

    • @davidditzler2704
      @davidditzler2704 11 месяцев назад

      That logic makes sense for an ICE car, but if you can double the power and get 0-60 times around 4 seconds then it doesn't seem like a good way to save a few grand IMO. I've driven both the FWD Polestar 2 and the AWD Polestar 2 but not the RWD Polestar 2. I haven't even gotten to drive the dual motor in snow yet, but I can tell you it's fun just on dry pavement. Our ICE car is FWD with Bridgestone Blizzak tires just in winter months and that made SO much difference in the snow. It helps handling and braking too. Too early to say if I will get a set of winter tires for the Polestar.

    I just rented a RWD Polestar 2. I love the looks of it and overall thought it was a nice car. But small and big things just start to bug the crap out of me. No frunk 🤦‍♂️ On the inside I hate the cup holder layout. So much wasted space in the center console. Absolutely hated the seatbelt chimes if you go and someone isn’t fully buckled in. The vents, the vents and ventilation is terrible. There is no right vent for the driver and left side vent for the passenger. It’s just inadequate. And I don’t have first hand experience but my two daughters hated the air in back. They complained they were freezing while up in front we were kinda hot. The software is kinda slow and clunky. The controls - why do I have audio controls on the right of the steering wheel and then the same controls on the knob on the center console? The steering - it seamed to unresponsive. It definitely was not tight like a Tesla. Why no adaptive cruise? This is 2023/2024, it should be standard. The kinda liked the car but as each day went on the little things just started getting to me. And then there is the charging - a complete nightmare! Time after time of having things not work or waiting in line just for a dam charger tells me never buy an EV unless it’s a Tesla.

    The biggest design flaw continues, and it is the reason I will still not buy this. It may be petty but for me it's a huge deal: Cupholders. I require two full-time usable cup holders in a vehicle. It's funny because I could tell when you needed both cupholders when you were both in the car because I could see the center console cover lifted up. If you need to lose your armrest and lift up the center console just to have a second cup holder, that is atrocious design and I can't believe they still haven't remedied that.

    About MOdel 3, assuming you don't have quality/build issues on yours;...
    Price is only cheaper if you go for the RWD standard range model 3 (a Sedan witha regular trunk, not the Polestar's hatchback), but once you start adding Enhanced Autopilot, a paint other than white and a different interior, the Polestar is about the same frankly, not that much cheaper iespecially when you look at the Performance & Long range Tesla prices. Yes some people can get the $7500 rebat, but not all people can.
    But with Polestar, you get what I think isa car with SOLID build quality, a nicer looking interior, and a better looking interior (I think the Tesla interior looks okay, a bit too bland, and it looks okay from most angles, but the Front of the Model 3 is plain ugly to me, where as Polesar looks good).

    It's getting a lot better for sure, but I don't think it wears any better, and definitely feels cheap. It's hard to beat the feel of leather seats, and they clean-up easily too.
    If you are driving around with red wine or something that stains, can see vinyl being better. I'm not big into eating in a car though.
    I'm also not convinced all of the petroleum products needed to make vinyl is any better than cowhide (which animal was already going to be eaten anyway). But definitely open to any data behind it.

      The is a fast BEV considering it is ICE based a d not BEV from ground up. So it is heavier and not as efficient.
      Though Edmund's has the range test within 10% of Tesla. The P*2 Dual Motor with 487 hp is a couple of tenths faster than Model Y Perf from 60 mph on up in Car & Dri er testing.

    It can't be a "road trip" car if it still has 1 single cup holder in the front and 1 in the "center console" for driver and passenger. #merica

    The female reviewer is a 'package of sound bites'. The interior is cramped. the tunnel intrudes to the drivers leg, the whole top console is terrible; one cup holder in sight, the other hidden UNDER the armrest[note how the armrest is UP for the two passengers], the gear selector is far to prominent and in the way, no storage under the console[ because its hiding a battery pack!} This is a gas engine car converted to EV and they got it all wrong. To see how its done aright, see the new or old Kia Niro EV. For the record books, I took a test drive in one- the sum result=RUN AWAY!
