@@normt430 very much so. I believe we have the largest electric rental fleet. I also am the only night maintenance driver, moving all vehicles for Hertz, Dollar & Thrifty that need anything more than washed and put back out.
I have had a Polestar 2 for two years. I like the car a lot. The design is clean and less is more. I've got the fabric interior and it is okay but more on that in a minute. I've got the dual motor and this car is fun to drive for a number of reasons. First off many still don't know what it is and that's cool because there is minimum badging. Driving it is fun. It's quick and handles really well. I'd even argue it has more power than most people need or can handle. The power is linear and instant which is typical for an EV. It rivals any of the top sport sedans. It's a little surprising because the car sits higher than most. I jokingly call it a crossover but it's a joy to drive. I don't care what they are saying the 0-60 is but if you are coming from an internal combustion engine you will feel that it's fast. Now let me highlight some things I think could be improved and some that just can't be improved. I'm 6'2" and I fit but it's snug. My kids can sit behind me without issues. The stated range is 240 miles but when you drive this like the sport sedan it is you will never see that. It's not any different than MPG. If you have a heavy foot your MPG goes down. This summer I've been pretty active and have frequently gotten into the car sweaty. Remember I've got fabric seats. I've never owned a car with fabric seats and I'm learning over time they need to be cleaned because they hold odor. The panoramic roof has no shade so for those in warm weather climates and have sensitivity to sun and heat that might be an issue. I've got the 20" wheels and think they look fantastic. The ride is surprisingly compliant and I live in the NYC area with some of the worst streets in the world. Wheel size is subjective and I didn't like the style of the smaller wheel and the car's stance. I thought it looked like a bargain SUV on stilts with the smaller wheel. Last point, I leased my car because I knew the tech was and is evolving for ALL EVs. I knew there'd be better tech in 3 years, more range and faster charging. I'll consider buying the larger sedan that's coming if the range approaches 400 miles. It's been very reliable and a cool car.

The problem with polestar, certainly for us New Yorkers, and most in the northeast - the lack of polestar service points. New York State has just TWO in its entirety, one in manhattan and another about an hour northwest of manhattan. Driving 180+ miles for any kind of service is untenable.
Polestar 2 , 2023 nissan z , ford mustang dark horse, nissan n74 and ford f150 electric .those vehicle best on market right now and don’t forget about the sprinter van
Polestar 2 refresh should appeal to buyers who don't like the Model 3 refresh because of the lack of stalks and the added advantage of more practicality of the Polestar 2 being a hatchback. The new RWD Polestar 2 single motor’s has 320-mile EPA range and faster charging speed. Other upgrades include an increase of 69 horsepower (299 total) and 118 extra lb-ft of torque (361 lb-ft in all). Additionally, the 440V platform can charge as high as 220 kW, charging 10-80% in 25-28 mins - a 20% speed increase, according to Polestar. Bjørn Nyland youtube video titled “Polestar 2 LR SM refresh charging test” shows the refresh 2024 Polestar 2 has much better charging speed - better than Tesla and iD4. Polestar 2 also gets the $7500 EV tax credit if you lease it.
As far as the charging port picking Frm your phone and Apple play not working my 2024 Polestar does the same thing MOST of the time. I thought my charger wasn’t working.
I really just need 350 miles range with awd with snow tires (and decent clearance) only rivian has that so far, but 🤞 range gets a big bump in the next few years!
I wish this car had LFP. From what I've ready everywhere it's NMC for all batteries. Although the cobalt they use is supposedly blockchain traced to eliminate cobalt from Congo.
Long Range Single Motor is the way I'd go even living in the Rockies. Its not the range. it's the chargibg speed from 150KWH to 205KWH. NACS access is kice, optional Ohlins is great, and Plys pack a lust for me. I'd🎉 get 19 inches wheels. NACS or access to Superchargers is my number one reason to switch from an Ioniq 5.
Considering that they have now switched over to lfp batteries, they are larger than the nickel based batteries, so I doubt you can get the dual motor version with an 84 KW pack. Unless of course they go back to putting a nickel base battery in with the dual motor version. One thing that you did not mention is that the 2023 and earlier versions utilizing the nickel-based batteries they recommend that you only charge the battery to 90% on a daily. This likely will not be the case with an lfp battery, you can usually charge them to 100% every day. Additionally an lfp battery is going to last around 25% longer before degrading.
I think he got that wrong. Pretty sure its still a NMC battery. It's lithium-ion, sure, but nmc are also lithium-ion, so that might be the reason he mixed it up. Would be great if I was wrong, but pretty sure i'm not.
@@erik5820 Considering that the new LR Model 3 is utilizing an LMFP 79kWh pack from CATL and CATL is also Polestar's supplier, why wouldn't the new Rear Wheel Drive Polestar 2 be utilizing a new 79kWh pack from CATL that IS NOT LMFP and instead is CATL's more expensive NMC version? Keep in mind the MAIN REASON they stuck to NMC is because SWEDEN IS COLD and LMFP actually performs just as well as NMC in cold weather. Granted the 84kWh NMC pack from CATL is basically the same dimensions as the 79kWh LMFP pack and because they wanted the higher performance for the dual motor version, they probably went with that one for the dual motor, but they would have had to been BRAIN DEAD to stick with such a high performance battery to be hooked up to a SINGLE MOTOR! Why? Especially when the cost per kWh is literally 30% more?
@@TheCostofAutism I'm not saying it wouldn't make sense. But I can not find a single source actually confirming the lfp. Most sources I find say nmc, and the information I find from Polestar just says 'lithium-ion' (which could be both nmc and lfp). I kind of suspect that they dont mention the nmc because of the noise concerning the Cobalt. I'm living in Norway. Picking up our new Polestar 2 LRDM next week. Would be great if it has lfp, but cannot find anything that points in that direction.
We certainly love our 2022 PS2, and we might switch it up next year for the 2024 for the increased range alone. Sadly, resale values aren’t fantastic. 1 year in and we’ve lost roughly HALF of what we spent on our car brand new from the factory.

yep I really like this car but will wait to buy until Polestar can use the Tesla charging network
I like this model, however when I test drove the dual motor spec it was over $60k which is competitive. When I searched for the value of a used on I found a 2022 with 24k miles and it was $38k. That is not a good investment, 24k miles and it’s only worth a little over half what you paid.😬
All cars depreciate horribly (especially EVs). You don't purchase a car and trade it in one, two, or three years. You lease if you trade frequently. As mentioned in the video you can lease a Polestar 2 for less than $500 per month. Part of the difference us that historically original purchasers of EVs got substantial Federal and Local Tax Credits/incentives. The subsequent owners haven't been eligible for any of those incentives. Though in some States that's changing now.
REALLY like this car but the base price point, no Fed tax credit and competition coming in thousands less, in my opinion it’s going to be a tough sell. 🤔
Most electric vehicles are from luxury brands. This is an electric performance version of a Volvo, a luxury brand. There are a few affordable electric cars and plenty more coming.
I love that car manf are going away from opening sunroofs. I rarely open mine or see others who opens theirs. They’re just noise makers that add unneeded weight.
I just saw this car in the wild. Looks nice. Great range on RWD variant. Sadly, about $20k more expensive (including fed tax credit) than my inventory Model 3 RWD. That’s a lot of money.
To all of the racists idiots trashing the car because it's supposedly Chinese, the Chinese owners provide the money while Volvo provides the design. Also, take a look at the products in your house. 90% of them were made in China so enough with the hypocrisy. 🙄
There are people who make conscious effort to not buy products from communist chinese not because of race but because of humanity reasons. I haven't bought anything made in china or from chinese owned companies after learning their oppression to the Uyghurs.
0:15 "Globally, around the world!" Globally means around the world, lol. It's like saying someone has been "killed to death" or pointing out that water is wet...
I have a 2022, Midnight color, fully spec'd. Love driving it. The car is super-fun to drive, fast, and comfortable. The info-tainment system sucks out loud. Native apps are trash. RUclips almost always just gives a green, pixelated screen. Waze takes longer than the trip to load, and gives partial directions. It says, "in 2 miles..." but doesn't tell you what to do. Google Maps works great tho. CarPlay works, and saves the info-tainment. Every 10-12 times I drive the car I have to restart the info-tainment because there is no sound. The car itself is awesome. I just wish the info-tainment system wasn't so buggy.
I'm not an EV fan, but I have a major question. Is it not possible to tune these vehicles (ALL EVs) so that the battery instead of outputting so much horsepower. You scale down the power output and in theory decreasing power consumption, and ultimately increase range capability. Why does this car, or any commuter everyday car need 400++HP? Don't get me started on that stupid Hummer's HP. Keeping HP between 250-325 and getting a consistent range capability of 350-450 Miles on a full charge. Seems like the more sensible approach given what they are "trying" to accomplish with the EV segment.
The Volkswagen ID.4 has multiple drive modes that adjust the horsepower. I really like it because if I want to just cruise, you can keep it in eco mode. It has a normal and sport mode that are significantly more powerful with stiffer suspension settings as well. The ID.4 pricing is very high but they are starting to heavily discount these cars.
Most EV's have an "eco-mode". What this does is that it essentially just makes the 'gas-pedal' a little 'slower'; you have to push it harder down to go fast. This gives a very even power consumption / speed, and is typically the most economic way to drive.
Polestar 2 is definitely visually pleasing. I’ve rented it several times along with the upper trim. My only complaint is the interior. The iPad like screen has super thick borders and to get home on the screen is frustrating as the home tab is all the way at the bottom. Like I’ve said with all of Volvo/Polestar products…the interior really needs to be upgraded.
I have a Volvo and once in a while, the wired CarPlay won’t work (or won’t stay up for longer than a few seconds) The fix I’ve found is turning the car off and back on - like rebooting a computer lol Ahh technology 😅
I had an XC40 & experienced the same! I got worried about the long term reliability since that was such a simple thing, I didn’t want to wait to see what else would go wrong. So I got rid of it & ate the depreciation.

The problem with polestar, certainly for us New Yorkers, and most in the northeast - the lack of polestar service points. New York State has just TWO in its entirety, one in manhattan and another about an hour northwest of manhattan. Driving 180+ miles for any kind of service is untenable.
4:16 pause. Why does it look like a tiny car?
Wherr are you filming at?
Polestar 2 , 2023 nissan z , ford mustang dark horse, nissan n74 and ford f150 electric .those vehicle best on market right now and don’t forget about the sprinter van
Man,This new Polstar 2 EV car I want to buy.
The Polestar 2 is a dream for me 🎉. Someday
I have been subscribed to you since 2013. Bro you have come sooooooo far, keep up the awesome reviews!! That background is siiick!!!🔥🔥🔥
What a stunning background! This is a nice car, but I'd still go with Tesla Model 3 over this one!
That all glass roof in GA would be a deal breaker.
"globally around the world" got it!
I really just need 350 miles range with awd with snow tires (and decent clearance) only rivian has that so far, but 🤞 range gets a big bump in the next few years!
Love the car, enjoy your vids.... Can you also include the stats in metric as well?
👍
Very comprehensive review...still don't like EV's.
I feel like wheels look too big on this car, 18' 19' would look normal
The wheels do look massive on the car 😅
Now this guy is bringing their boy's to the review .
reminds me of a saab in a great way.
I wish this car had LFP. From what I've ready everywhere it's NMC for all batteries. Although the cobalt they use is supposedly blockchain traced to eliminate cobalt from Congo.
That beep sounds like a hospital ICU sound.
2 things this car needs. A rear view Camara mirror the view out the back is terrible and 2 real cup holders. Americans want cup holders.
Plug it into the other port. Carplay works in one port but not the other. Other port only charges.
this is already quicker than the regular awd EV6/Ioniqs5/6 for an RWD
Wow,game over for Tesla!
Why does this car look so tiny next to Sofiyan😂
They remind me of the scion TC
Please put price in powertrain specs ❤
Long Range Single Motor is the way I'd go even living in the Rockies. Its not the range. it's the chargibg speed from 150KWH to 205KWH. NACS access is kice, optional Ohlins is great, and Plys pack a lust for me. I'd🎉 get 19 inches wheels. NACS or access to Superchargers is my number one reason to switch from an Ioniq 5.
But now for the real question...did Polestar fix the cupholder?
Woah 😮. That’s very resourceful information. I’m going to look into that more because I was in the market for a PS2 as a commuter car
That sounds weird. Where can I get a year-old Polestar 2 for half off? 🙃
I'm curious to know what your thoughts are on solid state batteries?
Really nice cars and I like the designs, I just can’t bring myself to buy a chinese car from a brand owned by the CCP. Nonetheless, great review and insight
yep I really like this car but will wait to buy until Polestar can use the Tesla charging network
Wai Wai wait did he say sedan?
I really like this car but it's expensive. So we've decided to buy a Model Y LR
Please avoid saying the wake word for Google or Apple. Hate it when this happens.. 14:53
too much bezels on the touch screen, looks like a 1st gen ipad.
People will hate on anything
This is a nice looking car, but man it sure does look small for anyone over 5-10.
im 6-1 and have plenty of room
We get it Sofyan, you prefer light color interiors. Your constant criticism of dark interiors is getting old as it's a purely subjective thing.
What’s funny is the childish frustration you are feeling over someone’s opinion. Life must be difficult for you.
@@LifeCycle1978 what's even funnier is the irony of you posting about your childish frustration over my opinion. I feel sorry for you
I like this model, however when I test drove the dual motor spec it was over $60k which is competitive. When I searched for the value of a used on I found a 2022 with 24k miles and it was $38k. That is not a good investment, 24k miles and it’s only worth a little over half what you paid.😬
That’s basically all EVs. I can find a low 20k miles 2020 Tesla model S dual motor long range at $55-60k in Tesla’s website. brand new was $80k+.
All EV's lose about $2,000-3,000 a month for the last year or so.
@@kevincarpenter2525 the 2021 P*2 used is getting close to qualifying for used EV tax credit of $4k for $25k purchase price. VW ID.4 is already there.
They're under 30k now. Been shopping for one. But that single cupholder...my wife would fight me for someplace to put her damn Stanley.
REALLY like this car but the base price point, no Fed tax credit and competition coming in thousands less, in my opinion it’s going to be a tough sell. 🤔
It leases for about $100/mo less than Tesla.
The prices for these EVs are ridiculous. As long as they keep the prices high EVs will never become mainstream
Most electric vehicles are from luxury brands. This is an electric performance version of a Volvo, a luxury brand. There are a few affordable electric cars and plenty more coming.
Cool story bro
I love that car manf are going away from opening sunroofs. I rarely open mine or see others who opens theirs. They’re just noise makers that add unneeded weight.
I just saw this car in the wild. Looks nice. Great range on RWD variant. Sadly, about $20k more expensive (including fed tax credit) than my inventory Model 3 RWD. That’s a lot of money.
Rob is hot. Just sayin'. Ordered our Polestar 2 Single Motor Long Range yesterday.
@@cupertinoish So you don’t have a cell phone? Pretty sure whatever phone you have was made in China.
@@cupertinoishlmao I’m sure that’s impossible. Everything is outsourced or made from China in the Us😅
@@treads2595 Sony Xperia made in Thailand
@@wikedwun There's still lots of things made in US, Thailand, Vietnam, even Japan. In fact more and more products are not made in china these days
0:15 "Globally, around the world!" Globally means around the world, lol. It's like saying someone has been "killed to death" or pointing out that water is wet...
Yhese ate. Same or better specs than Volvo S60R i had
The center storage area and snugness are kinda non-starters for me. I'm 6"0 i would barely fit in here Gorgeous car otherwise.
How many times did he say Volvo? Shot for each time.
Yes, using your foot!
It looks like a Samsung galaxy tab from 2012 got stuck on the dashboard!
The single motor also charges faster than the dual motor with the older battery! I think it's like 200kw vs 170 something.
False old battery is 150 new one is over 200kw
@@jasoncaine2600 That's why I said, "I think..." So it's even more of an improvement.
That Volvo/Polestar fuckin my boy up! Great review though.
I have a Volvo and once in a while, the wired CarPlay won’t work (or won’t stay up for longer than a few seconds)
The fix I’ve found is turning the car off and back on - like rebooting a computer lol
Ahh technology 😅
I had an XC40 & experienced the same! I got worried about the long term reliability since that was such a simple thing, I didn’t want to wait to see what else would go wrong. So I got rid of it & ate the depreciation.
@@Littleathquakesmy girlfriend had a 2023 RAV4 Hybrid and Apple Car Play will randomly not work. She also has to restart her car. I don’t think this is exclusive to any one car brand and I’m starting to think it’s an issue with Apple Car Play itself.
Next time open maps on your phone it will command the phone to recognize the Apple CarPlay
I Like the Polestar electric cars but the problem the mileage range is low!
This thing needs to be atleast 10k cheaper to even have a chance
So it's an ipace/etron... outdated unless you go for the single motor
