    Dr. Berg explains what Vitamin C does to your body and what makes up the nutrient. In this video, Dr. Berg also discusses what part of the vitamin might be synthetic and how to know the difference.
    Synthetic vitamins do no help your body heal or become health long term. Most synthetic vitamins are made out of petroleum which does the opposite of what most people are looking for. If you are searching for vitamins for hair, skin or to help with weight loss it is better to ask for organic ingredients

    I juice a lime or lemon every day and drink it in a glass of water. I stopped taking ascorbic acid. I've been doing the same for my daughter. She had some serious issues with her teeth, seemed she would need two root canals. I started her on the daily lime or lemon regimen and all the symptoms disappeared. It works.

      62shalaka This is indeed very healthy. Just make sure you drink it while eating something as well to stimulate the saliva. Otherwise you risk demineralising teeth which from personal experience is very damaging.

      Citrus juice daily is only going to possibly increase your risk of tooth decay (depending on your saliva buffering capacity) and at worst give you enamel erosion. Enamel erosion leads to cold sensitivity and also works with bad habits like bruxism (grinding) and abrasion (hard toothbrushing ususlly along the gumline) to make those habits much worse in a shorter amount of time.

    • @L.J.01
      @L.J.01 5 лет назад +4

      @@innosanto absolutely agreed. Plus it would give you diarrhea before you'd hit the levels of vitamin C often used in the studies. However, the studies typically are based on ascorbic acid, and not a natural form of vitamin C.
      Here's what I do, I take lower levels of Camu as 1 tsp day which is maybe 700 mg (sometimes, when I remember, I'll take this twice a day). This isn't too costly at about $35/lb. Then, when I feel something coming on, or I get sick, I take high doses of ascorbic acid as 6, 000 - 12,000 mg/day in divided doses.
      The Gerson diet recommends drinking 1 large glass (8 ounces) of freshly squeezed orange juice per day as part of the cancer protocol. That's 125-135 mg vitamin C. It also provides another 200 mg or so in the subsequent 8 glasses of carrot/apple juices. In all, you're getting maybe 325 mg of fresh vitamin C per day.
      I think fresh vitamin C is far more bioavailable than the other forms, with natural vitamin C powder being a far 2nd. But there is still no doubt ascorbic acid can play a critical roll in reversing disease too, especially acute conditions.

    • @innosanto

      @@L.J.01 I used to take vita C slow release ascorbic acid (not natural ) 3g a day excluding nutrition, and it was great for my adhd, in conjunction with other things I did at the period (super cold showers 5 minutes each). I think cold showers, together with b vitamins increased my norepinephrine and vita C slowed the degradation of norepinephrine in the brain and led to alleviation of the symptoms since it appears that my ADHD was because of NE. But it gave me kidney stones!!!! Then I looked up and it seemed that natural forms do not lead to kidney stones, so I was interested, and I think that Linus Pauling also got Vita C in great amounts through Camu Camu and not artificial ways. But it appeared that I couldn't afford this! What you write is interesting and maybe I will follow some of this stuff.
      However Linus Pauling institute states that there is no difference in the bioavailability of ascorbid acid, as far as where it is procured is concerned, whether artificially or naturally. However, the kidney stone thing if it is so would make a great difference.

  • @jasonfella265

    This is one video where I have to disagree with his assessment of ascorbic acid. Animals who's bodies naturally produce ascorbic acid produce a lot in a day. They don't need these other factors he's talking about. It's just pure ascorbic acid. An average sized goat produces at least 13 grams a day when they are healthy and unstressed, and much more than that if they are stick or stressed. So to say that high doses are never found in nature isn't exactly true. There are many thousands of studies and case studies written up by holistic docs showing high-dose vitamin C therapy is extremely beneficial for a number of conditions.

  • @richardsorel201

    The highest natural source of vitamin C on the planet comes from Camu Camu Berry. From my experiences experimenting with various forms and dosages of vitamin C, I find that a combination of the aforementioned berry, in addition to consuming ascorbic acid (taken several times throughout the day) provides the most perceivable benefits.

    What if the reason why people feel such long-lasting lethargy after recovering from COv1d is because they took high amounts of synthetic vitamin C in an attempt to boost the immune system. Taking high amounts according to Dr. Berg here would then result in a deficiency in the vitamin C complex, which includes vitamin J. The vitamin J deficiency may then be the reason why energy levels do not return even when the person tests negative and recovers. Just a hunch?

    Vitamin C comes in many forms. The primary form is Ascorbic acid which is very stable which is not efficiently absorbed above 500 mg. Dehydroascorbic acid is unstable at room tempurature yet with high uptake via Glut1 transporter into the blood. Then last is Threonic acid which is beginning to be investigated. The cofactors Vitamin P, copper....allow the Ascorbate to catalyze to these other forms. If you have some knowledge of chemistry you can convert Ascorbate with copper ions to Dehydroascorabate. Dehydroascorbate will literally make you feel euphoric, it will make your skin glow, your head will be clear. Dehydroascorbate is unique in that it crosses the blood brain barrier.

      Exactly, that's because it is the real synthetic vitamin C better known as L-Ascorbic Acid. In the 1930s, Dr. Claus W. Jungblut, an early pioneer of vitamin C therapy, discovered that only primates and guinea pigs were susceptible to scurvy and anaphylactic shock, pulmonary tuberculosis, diphtheritic intoxication, a poliomyelitis-like viral infection and a viral form of leukemia. None of the vitamin C synthesizing laboratory animals had susceptibility to these diseases. You see that is something you will never hear Berg talk about Why? Because he is a con man,... Why do I say that? Because anybody that does 10 videos on YT telling people that Ascorbic Acid is poison and that they should get the whole Vitamin C Complex instead clearly doesn't have a clue as to what Ascorbic Acid is. There are over 80 years of backed-up scientific research done on Ascorbic Acid, and yet this DC doesn't tell his band of worshipers here on YT any of the information on just what AA really does instead he gives them the big pharma treatment.

    One false assertion is about the concentration of ascorbic acid in fruits. Old varieties of european apples contained about 500 mg just 50 years ago. The intensive agriculture has dropped those concentrations as low as 10-20mg in one apple. And it's the same for all the fruits and vegetables now produced intensively. The concentrations in vitamins and nutrients has been divided by 10, 20 and even by 100 !!

    In the case of ascorbic acid, or vitamin C, the L-form is the form most active in nature. For some of vitamin C’s known effects, the D-form has little to no activity, and for other effects the D-form has significant activity, although not typically to the extent that the L-form shows activity.
    Basically, the vitamin C that is derived from natural sources is the L-form. However, the synthetic form of vitamin C can be either the L-form, the D-form, or both. Properly assaying the product determines whether any D-form is present. But just because vitamin C is synthetic does not mean it is the D-form.

      The two highest sources right now of vitamin C are KAKADU PLUM which is the highest and that's mostly grown in Australia .
      The second highest amount is AMLA FRUIT which is also called INDIAN GOOSEBERRY .
      If you can get these in their fresh forms that's really wonderful and if not you can at least usually get the Indian gooseberry at most Indian grocers in powdered form .
      Now they're saying Camu Camu is not worth it for vitamin C because the vitamin C in it is not stable and not as strong as they thought .
      I also like ascorbyl palmitate which is the fat-soluble vitamin C as it stays in the fatty tissue and the skin and will make the skin even tone and bleach out freckles or redness or dark circles under the eyes .
      Whenever I've been taking ascorbyl palmitate regularly I don't get sunburned and I no longer need to wear sunblock .

    I don't agree. Up until 12 years ago, I suffered from terrible colds every winter. My wife (from the Soviet Union) suggested I take vitamin C powder, as this is what they always did in the old days. Since then I've taken a tip of a teaspoon of vit C powder every day during the winter. If I feel a cold coming on, I ramp up the dosage (taking the same amount several times during the day) until the symptoms disappear. I haven't had a cold for 12 years, so I know vitamin C powder does do the job. You'd have to eat mountains of fruit to get the requested vitamin C once symptoms appear.

      @sirefromtheshire 5 лет назад

      @@abc_cba i'm all for learning new things, but going with the "its common sense" commentary only makes you look like a snob. The PH level of the environment needs to be at a certain point to keep the vitamin C stable. Apparently, the natural environment within the plants retains the integrity of the vitamin even when minimally processed. The nutritional content holds up very well as long as its kept in an airtight container and away from light (when in powder form). Vitamin C is stable even after being boiled if contained within its carrier (vegetable, fruit, etc) although it should be consumed soon after. We already know that its water soluble, which is why excess vitamin is flushed from your body and excreted through urine. The highest vitamin C content in the world belongs to the Camu Camu berry. Total ORAC score is different, but the Camu Camu berry is 3% vitamin C by weight, while the Amla berry is 1%. Amla does have the highest antioxidant count of any food, but Cloves and Cinnamon are higher if you want to use spices.

      @fatoumfatoumeh 2 года назад

      Nope…1tsp of Camu camu only gives you about 240mg of vitamin C (or maybe slightly less)…I take it every morning. It’s sufficient for the average person I guess, but not for those who need higher doses. Also it’s expensive…you can eat 1 large red bell pepper a day instead, and that gives you the same amount of vit C.

      Winifred... Synthetic doesn't mean artificial. Ascorbic acid is the same substance as naturally created ascorbate within 99% of all animals. It is chemically identical in every atom and in the layout of those atoms. That means it is exactly the same molecule of ascorbate made by a cow, a rat, your dog or cat.
      Most all the clinical efficacy showing the benefits of vitamin C in fighting disease and toxins is done using cheap, synthetic ascorbic acid.

    Wow !!
    Over did it with 500 MG ascorbic acid vitamin c with dolomite. Had all those symptoms lost 20 pounds in two weeks severe shortness of breath and weakness spleen and stomach almost shut down. Stress and overdose on something I thought was safe could have been fatal.
    Thanks for the video. Just had the prompting to research dolomite on the vitamin c label and found this video.

    The comments on this video are quite amazing. One side says synthetic is bad while others say it's no different than the natural form. The problem is the isolated perspectives and inability to look at the whole. Both sides speake and share true statements, but a true statement is a fragment of the TRUTH, which should not be confused with something that is true. Vitamin D is a good example. I was deficient in vitamin D and my doctor prescribed me Vitamin D2, which is synthetic and able to achieve extremely high doses that cannot be achieved with natural vitamin D which is D3. My doctor informed me that it is not recommended to take D2 (synthetic) due to thinking problems, irritability, urinating issues, chest pain, muscle pain, bone pain, etc.. But was necessary to quickly bring my levels up and then switch to D3 to maintain my levels. So, excessive MG of synthetic Vitamin C can be beneficial, but those who promote it look at the benifits and not the downsides of long term use. Both perspectives are true, but the whole of it is the truth and what is needed to come to a decision as to what is best for the person, which is a whole other factor. Each person has their own unique needs, therefore what may be sufficient for one person will not he enough for another and what may be enough for one person may be too much for another. So, anyone who says it's right or wrong can only speak for yourselves, for you don't know the unique requirements of all the people in the world. 🤷‍♂️

    Amazing videos, I have been doing IF ever since I heard of that. I would be really thankful of you if you can make a video on "bad food combinations" as in current time we have lost track of the things which should and shouldnt be combined. I have a little information about that from Ayurveda but I feel it does'nt cover the western foods like cheese and meat much. So it will be really helpful if you can make a video on that or if you have it already direct me to that . Also I wanted to know more about Triphala , I saw you discussing it in one of your videos but in this big pool of information it is lost like a pearl..:)

    I always like what Dr. Berg says, but disagree that synthetic C is not so good. Drs. Pauling and Abrams would disagree and they know something about C.
    The benefits of high and low dose C therapy come from synthetic as well as "natural" - but you'd need a lot more natural to get the benefit of the higher dose and cheaper synthetic C. Biochemists know that synthetic C has the exact same molecular structure as natural, and is also exactly just as bioavailable. So 1) synthetic C has exactly the same benefits as natural (but costs less) and 2) synthetic C had absolutely zero negative effects (i.e. the same) as "natural".
    The many many studies over many years showing the wonderful benefits of C on just about everything and dosed as lipo, IV, or oral are all from synthetic C.
    By the way, essentially all the vitamins you take are made by Big Pharma, since there are only a few vitamin powder manufacturers and they are the pharmaceuticals.
    Of course vitamin E and some other vitamins are Not good as synthetic, but Vitamin C is always excellent, synthetic or not.

    If I remember my chemistry, the problem with ascorbic acid is the sugar content its married with. If ascorbic acid is present with sugar, the sugar will leech into a cell first and sort of block ascorbic acid absorption. There is a lot of ascorbic acid, vitamins that have a lot of extra sugar, hence you don't get much benefit. Even oranges, though having high amounts of vitamin C, don't do the body as much good as you think, because the sugar present, blocks vitamin c absorption.

    Food based vitamin is always better, but from a biochemical standpoint and at the cellular level, asorbic acid is Vitamin C.
