We recently took a road trip to the New England in the US to visit Niagara Falls, Walden Pond, Baxter State Park, Mt. Katahdin, Mt. Washington, and more.
For this first leg of the trip we were headed to the American side of Niagara Falls in Buffalo New York. On the way, we grabbed buffalo wings from Gabriel's Gate before arriving at Niagara Falls State Park. We could see American Falls very clearly lit up at night with all sorts of colors. In the far distance we could see Horseshoe Falls. But with the impending rain and the road to get closer to the falls being closed, we left from there.
We then stayed at a hotel in Seneca New York. The next morning we continued our journey towards Walden Pond located in Concord Massachusetts. This was the location where Henry David Thoreau stayed in his secluded cabin and wrote his book titled Walden. After checking out Thoreau's cabin, we continued on our journey and headed towards Portland Maine.
While in Portland Maine, we walked around the pier before having dinner which consisted of lobster rolls, lobster, and clams. We also had a Narragansett Beer. After that dinner, we headed to Bangor, Maine where we would be staying the night.
The next day we would be heading to Acadia National Park to climb the infamous Beehive Mountain, but that would have to wait until the next video...

Cool format for releasing this series. hope it turns into some new patronage!
Love you guys. Who is Nicole? Cousin? Friend?
I know the main focus of this channel is hiking/camping/enjoying “the great outdoors“, but I would really love to see more episodes with you guys just hanging out/road tripping. This was a lot of fun and a nice departure from your usual fare!
It is appropriate when Andrew said Thomas is like a single dad with three kids haha. Love it.
The whole of Walden section is such a mood.
Think this one of my best videos because the Northeast is my back yard. Good to see you guys in this area.
It's Sunday...time to catch up on some Adventure Archives!
Finally New England! Would have been fun to bump into you on the trail. Maybe next time.
Yea!!!
It’s really cool to see you guys on the other side, Niagara Falls is basically my family’s go-to day trip if there’s nowhere else to go to.
I loved seeing you guys enjoy some of New England. I'm a Rhode Islander and the food here is AMAZING! Try to take a trip to our little state. Providence is filled with Revolutionary history and Jamestown and Newport are just beautiful. BTW, I don't know many New Englanders that actually eat the roe of the Lobster. YUK! But glad you liked it! LOL This was fun to watch!
Niagra looks amazing, I really enjoy watching your adventures, my favourite is still your adventure in yosemite. I would love to do what you guys do but sadly too old now. Stay safe and a very Merry Christmas
Wished this video were longer, can't get enough of AA!!
From the title, I expected more of NF. I grew up on the Canadian side and spent many, many hours in NF hiking the Gorge and picnicking along the Niagara River. I’ve never been to the U.S. side, and really enjoyed the perspective of the American Falls with the Horseshoe Falls behind. But then you went to the cabin. Thoreau has been an inspiration since I first read him when was around 14years old. What a treasure to be able to visit the cabin and area! Topping it off by the ocean - superb! Now I want lobster!
That was great! Can't wait for the next part!
Now you really know Maine and see why I can never move. I'm seacoast born and raised and I love it. New England truly is unlike anywhere else and Portland is fun. Ya'll never stopped at the dispensary though. You missed out but Portland is great. Around this time of year they sell tickets for a train that's like the Polar Express. Kids get a free gift and everyone gets hot chocolate and a train ride along the port coast.
Yep, just finished watching. This is GOLD, you guys! Thank you for continuing to put out great content.
Thank you thank you thank you for being the best Channel on RUclips I love you guys
This is a deep episode. Thank you for sharing.
My sons and I love you guys. Knowing that Walden is an inspiration for you is easy to see in your approach to the importance of staying connected with nature.
I Love this new way of releasing segments of a longer video! The vlog style with the high production quality of a main video is awesome! Its fun and more personal seeing yall explore during the road trip than just a park. Keep up the great work guys. I rather see AA more often with smaller awesome videos than have to wait a whole month for one long video!
Thank for for the new appreciation for Henry Thoreau.
THANK YOU 🙏 HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT MERRY CHRISTMAS 🎅 🎄& HAPPY NEW YEAR TOO 🎉
Watching this episode is literally fuel for my soul 🥰 Thank you Adventure archives!
Back in the day, the ex and I would roadtrip from MI to MA. I loathed that “impressive steel bridge”. Ran out of gas in the middle of it in the middle of the night one trip.
PS. New follower. Found you guys one night and have been bingeing for the past week. Thanks for the beautiful scenery.
the cool falls are across the river in Ontario.....even the skyline is amazing on the Ontario side
This video spurs "out of the box" thinking for sure👍😁💖
Looks like a fun road trip so far
Great trip, lots of Thoreau wisdom there. 👍
Production is outstanding guys. Good Job!
Always a good day when AA drops a new video on RUclips. Thanks guys! You guys always produce some amazing footage!
thanks guys
Boy I missed you guys. Glad you're posting again. Looks like a great road trip. Hope you're all rested for the next part of your trip. Can't wait to see it.
Awww man you guys went to Niagara Falls! I live in a suburb of Buffalo NY, I would have loved to have met you guys... I'm a huge fan
Amazing adventure! And what a cool idea to visit it at night!!!
Nice to see you on the road again. I would want to go kayaking on the pond. Happy Holidays.
Was just in Arcadia in the end of September to October. Actually we made a long road trip, flying to Newark, driving to Boston, then to Portland, Arcadia next, then the White Mountains in New Hamshire, down to Newport and then 3 days in New York City. Walked like 2-6 miles per day in the nature's wonders and the man made cities. Looking back, my kids will maybe not remember it but I will carry it in my memories till I die.
omg Thoreau with the phone 😂
Man, Ive been with you guys since yellowstone and yosemite. Those were some great episodes. Loving this one so far too. Good to see you guys all together, but Ive got to be honest...Want to see a full hour episode of you guys doing over nighters! Maybe more to come in the future?
hi musicisbrilliant, i definitely recognize your username :) Don't worry we will continue to have a lot of great backpacking overnighters in the future!
When I was at Niagara there were squirrels everywhere! Better than skunks! Lol great episode guys! Loved seeing Maine! That’s a part of American I really wanna experience.
I’ve missed your videos. Love seeing your guys curiosity and enthusiasm towards life and nature! So Refreshing! 😁
I love this series already! Need more road trip content!
I just moved back to Brooklyn, NY in October after living in Portland, Maine for a year. This was really nice to watch on top of all of the normal reasons why these are always great. Excited to watch the group hike up Katahdin.
Great video guys really enjoyed this one.
I just moved away from WNY a month ago, Niagara Falls is really nice at night. Buffalo will always hold a place in my heart even though I lived there just under 2 years. Go Bills!
After hearing, "I could be a man of the coast"... I hereby dub Andrew "The Coastie With The Mostie". Lol.
Nice start to the adventure 👍
Cool to see you in Buffalo!
Dude you guys are in Columbus!! I wanna go hiking with you guys sometime!
so weird how the algorithm works lmao - I was just in Buffalo + Niagara Falls for the first time last weekend. I had no idea they light the falls up at night???
That 'beer with a face' is an old Guinness advert.
I love that you all visited Walden's pond. I wonder if you were aware of Walden, a game on PC, IOS, PS4 or Xbox one. I don't believe it's widely known, but I may be mistaken. It's a exploration game that started out as a research project from USC innovation labs. Seeing your footage inspired me to re-download it and may read the book as well.
Damn guys, I live a short way from Walden and go all the time! Wish I could have met up with you. It’s a wonderful place and I love the sense of respect and reverence you brought to being there. I got to be honest, most Fridays and weekends in the summer you gotta fight for parking or hiking space. Even during COVID there were tooooo many people. But did you see the loon? First year there’s been a loon in a very long time :)
Aye! You've got a clip of my college in there when you're talking about going through Worcester! I hope the traffic on 290 treated you nicely!
Walden Pond is great! I remember falling asleep on the beach because of how peaceful it was. Woke up with a tick and had a brief lyme disease scare but otherwise definitely worth the visit!
Amazing video! I’ve always wanted to read Walden but never got around to it. I might pick it up this holiday :)
I really do like these road trip focused videos. I wouldn't mind at all if you guys posted more like this.
Great shots of the Niagara Falls, just beautiful! Thanks guys!
Omg you guys actually had lobster!! What a momentous event! After all the jokes I got a legitimate laugh out of it and made my evening, as well of all of yours I'm sure (:
I grew up a few miles from Walden Pond. Nice to see you in my old ‘hood.
Great video! Looked like a great time
AA always has the most amazing fun trips!! Haven’t been to Maine but being a coastal girl I know I would love it !! Thanks for a great video as usual from you four. 👍🏻😊🍺🌊
I think this is the first adventure archives where you guys gained more calories than you lost.
Nice
You guys are awesome! I absolutely love your content-- always fun to watch, and always inspiring. You are the best channel on RUclips, hands down!
Ahhh....welcome to PA, the land of never ending road construction.
Nice, glad to see a new video from you guys. Looking forward to seeing the next segment.
I thoroughly enjoyed that episode. Very nicely done.
Good lord! 😂Y'all have the worse eating habits! Lol. 🤣"you're stuck in traffic I'm soaring..."
Excellent. Never read Walden, but after this video, I ordered a copy on Amazon. Thx!
My home townnnn
Another great video. I'm doing a road trip to Yosemite this summer and this just makes me want to do it sooner
I'm liking this short segments format so i don't have to wait a month to watch :P
yo that's the last rest stop before the NY border in MA, i've been there many times
also as a new england person it's kind of fantastic to see a group of people enjoying things there with a fresh and open, outlook, there's a lot of fantastic stuff in the northeast
@5:25 the lightning colors almost match the lights illuminating the falls!
You guys NEVER disappoint!! 👏🏻
I feel like the seafood dinner could have been its own 2 hour episode
When you were in Portland you were less than an hour from me. Kittery, a placed named Warren's Lobster House, would have been epic for Seafood. The next time you guys come Northeast you should let me know you're coming. Windjammers is good too. Newicks. There's a few places. And when you drove over rhe Piscataqua River you were in Kittery. Lol. You drove in from Portsmouth, NH which is where I was born. In Bangor hopefully you drove by Stephen King's house.
Loved the ROAD TRIP east. Several times in different videos, you make reference to "sea gulls" which don't technically exist. There are simply different species of gulls. Just thought I would mention this so that you can correct on some future video. ENJOY!
We call them "seagulls" in Maine. Actually I graduated from OOB & our school sports teams were "Seagulls".
A cheer: Blue & white are the colors, Seagulls is the name, spirit is the reason we're going to win this game!
We got a call these road trip episodes Adventure Carchives.
I can't believe we didn't think of that name! lol
I know is very difficult due to work, life etc but have you guys ever thought about through hiking the Appalachian Trail? That would be epic
not necessarily the whole AT, but I would like to do sections :)
I recognize that wing place, it's Gabriels Gate!
Missed you guys. ❤
..a cool video keep up the great content.. Thank you…
Nice! I know some people like tamale, but you took it to a whole new level eating stuff I don't think anyone else ever attempted. Drinking the clam sludge? OMG, too yuck! If you like to read, check out Linda Greenlaw's books. They are all good, but one in particular may tickle your fancy: All Fishermen Are Liars. It'll give you a flavor of "Old Port" (which is where you were) characters who spend lots of time at sea (quite comical). I'm expecting to see your trip to Mt. Washington tomorrow ; ) Thanks for the laughs guys : D
Ah Bangor Maine. Where Bubbles and Ray go to sell scrap Metal.
Hot Hamburger Sandwiches!!!
That scene of the statue of Thoreau seemingly staring at his hand, you should have put your cell phone in it lol
Sorry, I commented too soon lol
made my day ! :)
(8:05) Y'all stated that you were in Seneca, NY but the drone footage was taken in Liverpool, NY -- a suburb of Syracuse, NY. I only know this because I am from Syracuse and I recognize the radar domes adjacent to the Lockhead Martin parking lot and Onondaga Lake. It seems like you may have your locations mixed up.
Hey C M R, you're right, we made a mistake in our narration, thank you for pointing it out!
One of you is a rain god and you don't know it, like that character in the Hitchhiker's Guide.
Wait, you guys drive all day and only spend an hour or so in the middle of the night for one view of the American falls? You’re more impressed with the wings.
It’s Woosta MA! Lol
Watching you guys eating that lobster was probably the grossest thing I've seen you do so far. Oh god... >__
When were you in niagara falls. There was a car that went in and got stuck at the brink of the waterfall. If it were day time you would have seen it
Buffalo loves AA
I’m heading there Jan 20th
Tan pants finally got lobster
Soooo… what I learned is that I will starve to death in Portland - I am allergic to seafood. 😂
The Ocean air alone might be too much for you!
Did you ever find the source of the strange smell in the car after leaving the hotel?
We did. It was the solid fuel I had packed for my gear. One of them had the foil covering pierced so the fishy smell was what we were smelling
@@spikybry Ah yes, I know that smell from Esbit cubes, and their like. Chem-fish, lol
Props for pronouncing "Worcester, MA" right :D It is actually not exactly the same as "wooster OH, but, I mean ... I live here and I can't even spell it right half the time ... not the most brilliant town name ...
Too bad you didn’t get to see Watkins Glenn
