My secondary school, academy, high school years - call it what you will - ran from 1988 to 1994. Ride were always there in the background. A theme tune to the best years of our lives. This takes me back to those years: experiencing the first concerts and festivals. Super happy to see Andy Bell and the guys are still spreading the love to the younger generation.
No camera phones... just the odd Nokia, Ericsson or Motorola in the baggy jeans pocket... bliss. Everyone just drinking and watching the band through their own eyes, not a screen.
With Ride and Slowdive still producing great music today it's great to see these old videos. Man, does it make me feel nostalgic though. The early 90s were incredible with the techno/house scene, Madchester scene and the shoegaze/dreampop scene. Raves and gigs every weekend! What a time to be young. Cheers for uploading
Ride 2024 Cambridge Junction - It was fucking great :D even played a few from my favourite album :D Twisterella, Cool your boots, Leave them all Behind (this was soooo good)
Enjoyed this, thanks. I saw Ride in '91 at the Crystal Palace Bowl, it was an all day mini festival type thing with the Pixies headlining. The Boo Radley's and CUD were also on the bill (maybe a couple of others? I don't remember). Anyway, it was a fun day, and Ride played a killer set. They've done a few in studio appearances at KEXP (local radio station here in Seattle) over the last 5 years and they sound as good as ever.
Hi Alistair, glad you enjoyed this. I might upload more, to be honest, this is one that thought few would watch, I was wrong. Crystal Palace, June 91, a bargain at just over £15 per ticket for a pretty good line up, the only one you missed were The Milltown Brothers. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
@@ScottishTeeVee My main motivation for attending was to see the Pixies (who were great), but I remember being impressed by Ride, and I started to follow them a lot more closely after that. 29 years later, I listen to a lot more Ride than I do the Pixies, so there is that. Bonus trivia: There was some VIP's close to the stage that day, up on some scaffolding type platform. I saw Miki Berenyi from Lush up there and that really made my day. Cheers.
My definitely no one favourite gig video!!! Short but full of ride world till the end!!! And Andy’s sunglasses are so Andy and cute!!!💕💕💕when I party alone, Always play this and I’m soooooooo happy😭😭😭😭😭
Im a huge fan of Ride, MBV & slowdive. Seen them live many times over, right from the first ep's onward. & I call this Shoegaze. Because these bands, & a few others, defined a genre at the time. We called it showgaze then & we still do now.

These songs makes me genuinely HAPPY, MAKES ME THINK THAT EVERYTHING IS GONNA BE OK…

Good to read that they are still great live band. I should have made the effort to go see them recently
I first saw Ride in 1992 and I'm in that crowd, it was my first time at Glastonbury and the best one I ever went to.
Thanks for watching and commenting Stephen
@@ScottishTeeVee thanks for posting..Ride are my favourite band
Great band. Saw them in 1990, then again mid 90’s and later in 2015. Would’ve loved to have seen them at Glastonbury. Good times
Thanks for watching and commenting Stephen🙂
Mark Gardener (1994) man crush

I was there too with an old girlfriend. Great day, I remember it well. The Miltown Brothers may have been on the lineup as well.
Thanks for posting...after looking up these guys for more, learnt a new musical term today...shoegazing
It's a bit of a forgotten subgenre of the late 80s
dive in and enjoy.the shoegazing era was fantastic.
@@ScottishTeeVee slightly 'farm-esq'.
@@ScottishTeeVee forgotten? It’s been massive these past few years!
Now look into Lush

Thanks again the shoegaze masters 👊
I'm about to see them for the 1st time in Taipei in a few days..which is nice ..many thanks
Gonna see them tomorrow for the 1st time!!!
Quality of this video - way better than most shite video of the day, nice.
There's more video from Ride on this channel, all good. Thanks for watching and commenting
Thank you for the video. Great sound. No surprise, but man they look young! Steve looks mostly the same, but you barely recognize Andy and Mark.
Thanks for watching and commenting Kai
Mark just got rid of his long hair shortly after Ride's breakup, and he's been keeping it that way.
❤️
What is this song called?
1000 Miles
Magical Spring
Mouse Trap
Stop calling it shoegaze!! Just - great guitar music.
No, it's shoegaze at best.
Indeed!
Lol, people have their freedom

Mark Gardener kinda looks like David Gilmour with his hair like that.

I loved RIDE sooo much in the 90s. This version of 1000 Miles is so dreary though.
They nailed it though...sounded great!
Back when Glastonbury wasn't a teenie bobber pop concert
