Such a sweet nostalgic video that brought tears to my eyes. A few weeks ago I hugged my grandma for the last time, until eternity. But I did not know it was the last time. Your words were a gentle reminder to my heart that life is merely a breath and it is no small thing to take the time to enjoy every good and perfect gift given to us each day. You are the epitome of what a mother and housewife should be. When I use the terminology housewife…I’m referring to a mother who does all within her power to make a loving, beautiful atmosphere for her husband and children. I am always in awe at the meals you cook, your decorating style and the gentle soft way you speak of your family and home. Spending time with each other as a family and sharing new experiences is something I think many families miss out on. I always wish people would slow down and enjoy each other because time moves fast and families grow up and soon take wings and fly. My father has passed away…something I couldn’t fathom happening…you always want to keep them around forever. But death is part of life in the same way that summer gives way to fall…with leaves living their last life of the season…but covering the ground and bringing with their last dance a stunning show of color. Enjoy your family because they color your life with a rainbow of color and beauty. As each day passes we are losing time. I can tell you cherish your family and the memories made with them. I wish everyone could understand the importance of living each day to the fullest snd never failing to tell family and friends that you love them.
I have to confess that I cried watching this video. The reason is, throughout my marriage I begged my husband for a more simple life. I wanted to leave Corporate American behind but he would never do that. In his eyes the money was way to important. This was very hard on my children and myself because we all are "quality time" souls. My children are grown and have careers of their own. My husband now realizes what he has lost. I was going to send this message to you privately, Lisa, but than I decided I wanted others to read this. Family is so much more important than material things. Everyone needs money to survive but there comes a time when we have to ask ourselves, "How much money is enough?" To the people that are reading this, please remember, a new house or new car can be wonderful but they will never pick up the phone to call and say they love you. Only your family and friends can do that. Have a great week everyone and enjoy your family.

You are so right. Just as summer goes by sooo fast and comes to an end much too quickly, so does life. Prior to right now (age 61), I never really thought anything at all about the end of my life. Too busy, I guess. It’s amazing though how 6 decades have gone by just as quickly as a 30 second video compilation😔

I know what you mean about a fleeting summer. I'm in the east coast of Scotland and our summers go in the blink of an eye but this one has been truly great. I've been wearing summer dresses since May and its such a shock to have to get out my winter wardrobe. Summer came to an end within 1 day. Looking forward to next year but hope we get get a proper winter.
This was soooooo beautiful, Lisa...... loved it.... &, I totally understand, the change of seasons can be so hard & heavy on the heart. I have found that if I put cozy, warm lamps in the corners that are on a timer, this helps me so much. I mean, it HELPS me! I need to see the light that I need in the corners, once the time changes..... I also have started putting a little lantern on my front porch ( with a flameless candle in it that comes on at dusk ) & we put porch light & garage light in on a timer...... this way, when that sun comes down to early & the nites get colder, I have found myself feeling happier & cozier with the warm lights that i have on timers. I don't know what it is, but it has helped me immensely....... : ). Also, I make sure that the light bulbs have the "warm" glow - - all things are super cozy that way. Esp if you go on a brisk, fall walk & come back to that porch light waiting for you - - it just helps. : )

Delighted to see you float the Jack's Fork! That is in my backyard! One of the last crystal clear rivers. The river is surrounded by a rare collection of plant life only found that deep into the Mark Twain national forest bordering the river. Perfect filtered light for gorgeous ferns & wildflowers. Grandfather bucks roam..truly a lower Ozarks treasure! So happy you got to experience it. Beautiful episode 👏. They way you expressed these current days of the change of seasons. Thanks once again

Obviously we have lots and lots of water that your kids would love. We have sand dunes to run and play on. We have the Sleeping Bear dunes that was named one of the most beautiful spots in the US on Good Morning America. And we have our beloved Mackinac Island, home to one of the few place in the United States with no vehicular traffic. I look forward to seeing the new baby. I hope you have a little girl.

I'm 67 next month 68 and fall has always been my very favorite season with so many fond memories of my childhood and of my 3 kids growing up! There is so much beauty to be found in every changing season but... I just feel that fall is a very reflective time very spiritual feeling and with your soft voice and the passion in your eyes describing the end of summer I began to cry...like another lady my age expressed...where did 60 years go!? Oh man. This brought tears to my eyes. We are moving in one month after 17 years and I just keep thinking "will this be the last time for......" Lot of memories but, you are right this new season of life we are entering will indeed bring new adventures. :)
We are also moving in a month. We've been in this home for 9 years, it's where we started our family so lots of memories. Next week we will close the door on our home for the very last time 😢 Our kids don't want to move bc this is the only home they've ever known.

Hello Sweet Lisa! I want to echo so many of the other beautiful comments that are so well deserved! What a beautiful "old soul" you are! You know already how to embrace each season in life and you convey your feelings so eloquently! I'm 67 next month 68 and fall has always been my very favorite season with so many fond memories of my childhood and of my 3 kids growing up! There is so much beauty to be found in every changing season but... I just feel that fall is a very reflective time very spiritual feeling and with your soft voice and the passion in your eyes describing the end of summer I began to cry...like another lady my age expressed...where did 60 years go!? It's bittersweet! Thank you for being the sweet person you are, sharing your beautiful family and taking us with you on your journey homesteading! You and Luke make a perfect team! Can't wait to meet your new addition! Many blessings to you and your family!❤🙏😊

You inspire me! Yes a pregnant lady, 7th baby and you seem to get more out of life then I do or people I know. I enjoyed watching you and your hubby on your trip. I loved the scenery. Isn't it pretty. It is true sometimes your own state has the best if we just look. I always say Iowa is so beautiful. The changing of seasons. I think we were all ready for some cooler weather. I wish you the best when you baby comes. I know you will love this one as much as the 1st. It is true sometimes we don't know it is the last time. It is something to think about, Your children are lucky to have you. Or I would say this is God. He put you right were you are. take care. Joyce

You are my inspiration for everything and I just absorb your content from the beginning like a well written book. Oh man. This brought tears to my eyes. We are moving in one month after 17 years and I just keep thinking "will this be the last time for......" Lot of memories but, you are right this new season of life we are entering will indeed bring new adventures. :)

We are also moving in a month. We've been in this home for 9 years, it's where we started our family so lots of memories. Next week we will close the door on our home for the very last time 😢 Our kids don't want to move bc this is the only home they've ever known.
@@lovingsunshine3515 Oh, I understand. We are the same. My kiddos have grown up here. They are ready to go though. We want some land and that is a big motivator. Hopefully your kids will adjust. They are pretty resilient. I have very mixed emotions. Very bittersweet.
The title alone fills me with the same feeling you describe. The Portuguese have a word for it, « saudade », a sort of sweet longing melancholia. What beautiful rivers to canoe and kayak on. It’s great the two of you were able to get away.

Thanks for sharing your vacation/getaway with your cute husband. That is so important and we didn't do it enough when young. We have been married 53 yrs this last Feb. Love seeing you paddle down the rivers and all the beautiful scenery. Looking forward to fall. I may be old but love decorating, cooking and doing crafts. You have such good videos, thank you!
