This fight scene actually blew me away, I've genuinely watched it once or twice a day since seeing it, I just keep coming back to it for the choreography, sound design, and soundtrack, to say nothing of the intricacies between the characters. A high point of the show for sure, it didn't really get much better than this duel for me.

What i love about this fight is that it really shows you how skilled Geralt is, most of the fight he's holding back and even stopping his sword before it can slice her (at 0:47 he could have easily took her whole arm off) but when he realizes this won't end and that she's choosing death he ends the fight like that to the point of yanking her sword from her. Renfri was skilled as fuck and very fast but even with him holding back she stood no chance against Geralt.

Oh yeah. It's very much more clear in the book, when they even talk about seven dwarves and a poisoned apple. But the story goes on, and the violence keeps going to the moment she met Geralt, and kept until her unfair death.

The Boys and Umberella Academy cut the episode count and surprise, surprise, both lack filler and are better shows. I've seen far more shows that are full of filler than shows that feel rushed.
This fight is actually alot different compared to the book version, I'm actually sorta surprised. (sorta spoilers here) Renfri takes her skirt/kelt/whatever, off and wraps it around her wrist, and she was a bit more acrobatic in the book, and from what I could picture from reading, Geralt didn't overwhelm her, take her sword from her and then pointed his own sword at her throat. And Renfri didn't use her dagger when she fought Geralt. But she still had one, that came from her hand when she died. And adding onto that, Geralt didn't use her dagger to slice her jugular vein in the book. He sliced her femoral artery. And contrary to the show, despite Renfri asking Geralt to hold her, in the book he sorta just stands there as she dies. And my final point, Renfri doesn't mention/foreshadow Ciri in the book during her dying moments. Thank you for taking the time to read my comment.
You can tell when shes fighting she is both scared and desperate. There was no way she was winning this unless she somehow got him by surprise...which she tried to but ultimately failed.
She is scared and desperate, but she doesn't appear to be fighting to win. She looks and acts like she's goading him into killing her. She has decided this is where her story ends and she's going to go down fighting.

The fight truly is a dance. Geralt didn’t want to kill her, he gave her several chances to back off. Anyone else wonder if he’s supposed to be smelling
