    Here's my ranking as a cord cutter in 2017 who's subscribed to all of the live tv services listed below:
    1. Sling TV (you can really build the tv package that fits you and I have an antenna)
    2. RUclips TV (best interface)
    3. Hulu Live TV (abc was extremely glitchy during 2018 NBA finals so I canceled)
    4. DirecTV Stream (formerly DirecTV Now)

  • @shackdaddy7106

    I would rank them as sling TV, Hulu with live TV (because it also includes Disney+ and ESPN plus) and then RUclips TV. The thing that annoys me about RUclips TV is the fact that multiview is not an optional add-on. You can’t watch four shows at the same time. If they didn’t have that in their base package, they could lower the price by a couple of bucks a month and then it would be equal with Hulu with live TV.

    I'd choose DirecTV stream as #1 for anyone who wants to ditch cable while still having that cable feel. Also rate it #1 for anyone who wants the best picture quality. Just switched from Xfinity to DirecTV stream and the difference in picture quality was night and day, DirecTV Stream just has so much less compression noise compared to Xfinity.

    I wanted to go back to RUclips, but they don’t have the History Channel. That’s the problem with the services. You need at least six to compete with cable. Will we go back to cable; no!!!! I am stuck with SlingTV, Netflix, Prime, Paramount, and Peacock. 😂😂😂😂 Thank you for the information. Have a great day. ❤❤❤❤

    I'd choose RUclips TV #1 and Philo #2 (even though it's not on the list.) The reason is, these two services combined make up a virtually complete traditional cable line up, which was the most important to me.

      I was doing that exact combo and I miss Philo (switched to Sling for summer). But, when I switch back to YT TV for football season I will be doing Friendly/ Peacock, because that will give the the channels I like that are missing from YT TV at apparently a cheaper price. I am at least going to try that combo this fall.

    I'll say this, I was an early adopter of YTTV and stuck with them until 3 months ago when I switched to Hulu live. After a week or so of adjusting and getting used to the interface, I like it much better and never realized what I was missing. I still think YTTV is fantastic but just like any streaming service or device, it really comes down to your budget and your needs.
    For us, we audited the channels we watched on YTTV. It turned out to be like 10 only! My wife watches Disney+ and had a subscription and I had the Hulu subscription. My necessities were ESPN and RedZone. So in comparing channels, options and combining services we were able to reduce our expense, maintain the channels we watch and also gained a better DVR experience IMO (I love that it reverts back to old days of "record only new" and "delete"). It comes down to personal taste so to try and rank them makes no sense because of this. Thanks as always for your vids!

    Although it's not live TV, Paramount + has over 500 movies and over 400 television series. It gets lots of subscribers because of it's Taylor Sheridan content (all his series except Yellowstone). It costs a lot because people are willing to pay the ticket.
    Some of that stuff is vintage like every Star Trek series from yesteryear. $12 a month. Includes Showtime too.

    I used RUclips TV for while and left. Not because of the cost. I switched to HULU strictly for customer service. In reality most of these have horrible customer service. The issue I had was that YTTV keep cutting off and freezing. Emailed them 27 times NEVER replied. When I was able to finally able to talk all the said was Apple TV issue. I took into Apple store and was NOT the issue. I switched to Hulu and they went through everything and solved within 40 minutes. It is NOT always about the channel selction nor price. All average out in the long run.

    I just dumped RUclipstv for Sling Blue with all extras including MLB, NHL, RedZone and TCM for movies. It also has better crappy stations like FETV. All for $61. In my area it carries ABC as well. That’s all the locals I need. For me, this is way cheaper and better than RUclipsTV.

    I suspect the reason RUclips TV is growing now is because they gained the NFL Sunday Ticket.
    I dumped DirecTV and took the RUclips TV/ NFL Sunday Ticket package, and saved about $90 a month, getting everything I want!

    • @freeforall825
      @freeforall825 8 месяцев назад

      I'm about to do the same. After 25 years of Directv, we have no incentive to stay with them. Sunday ticket was the only thing that really kept us from looking around at other services. They got about 250 a month out of us, so this will save us almost half and gives us more than we need. Most live channels are all just 24/7 reruns these days anyway.

    We just got RUclips TV, and we’re disappointed with the quality of the picture, which is a big let down, most stations are broadcast In 720p as Opposed to 1080p, otherwise it has everything we’re looking for in Live TV, the other downfall is you cannot delete programs from your Library (DVR), so you have reruns which you have to filter through to watch the latest episode.

    I am currently trying Hulu + Live this month because it has all the channels I watch... problem is the interface though...the guide is the worst! Fubo, RUclips TV and DirectTv stream are light years ahead to me in terms of live tv browsing experience. If I could pick up locals without an outdoor rooftop antenna, I may consider Sling. But Hulu has to fix the guide, etc. and offer me some freebies if I am ever to try it again.

    I decided to sign up for Hulu + live TV to try it out. I’m keeping my RUclips tv subscription for now. I want to be able to compare them side by side. One great advantage of RUclips tv for a sports fan like me is RUclips tv’s key plays. There are times when I don’t want to watch the whole recording of a game and key plays allows me to see the best plays of the game. I’ll add additional comments here as I continue my comparison.

    • @farzineskandaripour9989
      @farzineskandaripour9989 11 месяцев назад +1

      I’ve been using Hulu + live TV for a couple of days. So far it’s not that impressive but none of these services are. There’s is still plenty of development that needs to happen for any of them to be a true cable replacement.
      Things I like about Hulu:
      - No extra charge for 4K
      - Live guide (getting to it is strange but once you’re there it looks similar to cable guide. It does have its quirks.
      - Disney + package which included espn + is included.
      I think I’m going to cancel and go back to RUclips TV. I like its ease of use. For the life of me I can’t understand why a company like google can’t invest more in RUclips TV. It seems to me that it’s a small group of developers supporting it rather than it being a full fledged division.

    I think RUclips TV is the right service when you first end cable, because it allows you to wean off easily. I am currently doing Sling with a Tablo for locals, but Sling is just not as easy to use for DVR. I will be going back to YT TV as soon as football season starts up, and trying to do Sling in the off seasons. I am late to the cord cutting since I just got rid of Cable in March of 2023. I currently also have Paramount + (free trial mode currently) and RUclips TV(also free trial). I’ve used RUclips TV since it was available. I tried Hulu live tv a couple of years ago and it was ok but I like RUclips tv better. However, My house consists of Yankees and Mets fans.
    First RUclips tv got rid of the YES network which is primarily where we can watch Yankees games. I still kept it.
    Today I received an email from RUclips Tv that they will be getting rid of the SNY network in 8 days.
    So note the Mets channel is also gone.
    Hulu with live tv also got rid of the YES network as did pretty much every streaming service, but as of now Hulu still offers SNY.
    I plan I canceling RUclips tv and switching to Hulu live tv in order to keep watching Mets games. The rest of the channel lineup is pretty similar to me but I do much prefer RUclips tv gui and features. It’s too bad they keep doing this.

    My ranking and other people's rankings have more to do with "content selection" and "user experiences." Personally I don't care for DirecTV Stream but for my 86 year old mother when only combined with a Roku Ultra and Roku's remote works.
    DirecTV Stream doesn't offer "Profiles" so sharing it on multiple Devices/TVs can really upset people by opening to User 1's last channel and visa-versa.
    Further, the UI on HULU and MAX actually, IMO, have gotten only worse over time and with many others that deliberately bury "resume/last played" and "selected +" content.
    Bottom line, It's quite obvious that a lot of content is significantly affected (lacking) at this point because of the lapse in production during the COVID pandemic. In addition, with mediocrity, when it comes to content, these price increases to reward poor production blows my mind. My biggest observation is the primary broadcasting services productions have gone down to the point where live TV makes little sense. I certainly understand Sports I'm referring to scripted shows.

    RUclips TV makes you watch commercials when watching movies!

    I have RUclips TV but I don't like it because I can't watch it on my Roku TV, because it drops and goes back to the home screen all the time. I can only watch on my phone and Amazon doesn't have the RUclips TV app for Kindle fire. It will be ending this month.

    Why doesn't Spectrum's TV App qualify as a Streaming service?

    • @MichaelSaves
      @MichaelSaves  11 месяцев назад

      Spectrum fell under the Subscription TV Service category with traditional cable and satellite providers in this study. It was second to last place.

    It would be great if these services would provide local stations and you could pick any 10, 15, 20 channels that you'd want at any time. Swap channels at any time while still maintain your allotment. I literally only watch a few channels and sports. I find all the programming offered to be terrible. Of all services that don't have live TV, Apple TV+ has the best shows. Netflix, Hulu, etc original programming is not very good...

    I suspect RUclips TV fell a point just because of their price increase, not because their customer service has actually decreased.
    The Hulu bundle FEELS like a lot of content, whether it's content you're interested in or not. I suspect that improves their numbers.
    I'm not surprised to see DirecTV Stream fall; you already know how horrible my experience was (although to their credit, the Customer Service agencies really did try to move heaven & earth to improve my experience).
    Because of the DIY nature of so many of these streaming services, I don't have a lot of experience with many of the Customer Service teams. I don't know that I can fault any that I've interacted with (except for the History Channel which I contacted directly... but that's another story).
    I'm supplementing Paramount, Max, & Prime with Frndly TV right now. Their picture quality isn't great but they're the cheapest way for me to get the History Channel... and to their credit, they've really expanded their channel count without increasing prices, so kudos to them for that.
    Thanks for your always excellent updates! I vote YOU for best streaming customer service!! 🙂

    This is misleading. RUclips TV has all the local channels more sports than the other and most of the top channels. Top DVR. Family sharing, and price not too high.

      @@juanthompson8016 Compared to Xfinity it's not too high, with Xfinity I was paying almost $50 just in taxes and fees. With DirecTV Stream I just pay the advertised price plus my state sales tax.
