  • DIY Tutorial for fixing a Maytag Dishwasher that doesn't drain at the end of the cycle.
    This one would drain later (when the pump cooled off) if you press the "Drain" button on the control panel. But it would never drain at the end of the cycle with the pump warmed up.

    Fixed, thank you for your video!
    One thing that helped me tremendously was getting the front raised. Twist the feet on the front of the dishwasher and it will allow you to access the pump much easier. *I began by accessing it from the front of the dishwasher and not the side, which is just a side note for new DIYers.
    Just make sure you have everything lined up and tight before you turn it on. The first time it wasn’t and water went everywhere, second time it worked like a charm!
    Thank you so much for posting!

    I want to say THANK YOU for this video! My mom's Maytag dishwasher had the same problems you described in this video and it smelled like burning. I was able to fix it myself with the help of your video! You saved my Mom lots of money.

    Thanks so much. I have the MVB8969 but looks like it works very much the same. I think I may replace the pump and see if I can get it working again. It’s the cheapest part that I was thinking that I had to replace. Just replaces the control panel and user interface board.

    I pushed the cancel/ drain button on the panel. It read 3 min, then immediately read 2 min before elapsing a minute? Pan is full of water but not draining. Pump or bd issue? Thou ghts?

    Thanks for the instruction. How did you put it into a drain cycle before changing the pump out?

    • @JoesCarSmartsNY
      @JoesCarSmartsNY  Год назад +3

      My machine would do a partial pump cycle if I let it cool down. Try waiting a couple hours and hitting cancel/drain again. When I did that it would pump out most of the trapped water.
      Backup option is a shop vac to suck it out.
      Or, you could have a board issue also. My experience was that my pump was running briefly, overheating and then shutting off. So for me I knew the board was turning the pump on. I would say that if you can’t hear the pump come on (after the machine has cooled for a couple hours) then you might have a different problem than I did.

    Will this pump work for mdb8969 as well?
    I am having the same issue. It won’t drain at the end of the cycle or heat to dry the dishes.
    However if I press the drain button later it will drain.

    Rinse cycle drains properly but NOT any of the wash cycles?

    • @JoesCarSmartsNY
      @JoesCarSmartsNY  Год назад

      Hmmm. That’s an interesting one.
      You MIGHT have the same issue as I did. Maybe the motor is overheating for the wash cycles…but has cooled down enough to do the rinse drain?
