I actually charge a $70 minimum for ALL my appts just to elaborate on my pricing more. That means no matter what a client gets, the minimum will always $70.
For example: If the client’s total based on my pricing list is $62, they would still pay $70. If it’s over $70, then they would pay that amount as normal.
I structure my appts this way so I KNOW no matter what, I will make at least $70 per client I see, for my products, time, effort and skill. Similar to how a tattoo artist charges. Even if you want one dot, just because they have to set up, pour out ink, get a new needle, towels, cleanser and etc., they’ll charge you $40 minimum. Basically, I operate on the same concept. This may not be right for your clientele if you are a technician, I’m not saying to do this, but it works for ME.
    Thanks guys!

So I charge $25 for the acrylic fill with one color included. $5 per each additional color ($20). $10 for coffin nails. $5 per partial Swarovski nail design ($20). And I absolutely forgot to mention how much I really really like the fact that you added that price content in there. So many people wonder what to charge and how to charge. You are a nail tech after my own heart because, I do the same thing. I will break my pricing down and because there are so many situations that might not be on my pricing list, I will make a generic price for generic situations that are maybe specialized. And put it as a flat rate per each probable request. I hope people appreciate it as well and you did great with the ombre. I like the gradient affect as far as from each nail to the next nail to the next nail. You have a great holiday.

I see why the charge is upwards of $75, I used to pay between $50-$100 for much more basic gel set with 1 accent nail - usual simple glitter. That’s why I learned how to paint the ebasket press on nails. I tried the poly gel but I’m a beginner so that looked terrible. Acrylic was the same. For now my press on stays for 2 weeks and it’s become a fun hobby for me learning to paint and experiment with designs and I find it relaxing.

I am incorporating prices in my area and the type of service given at most salons in my area. I would pay $100 at least. Full sculpt I would pay around $160. Most salons don't offer artistic services and they don't prep properly. I have never had my nails done where they didn't lift. The flush cuticle work that you do alone is worth it. Plus many salons don't use recognizable brands and take major shortcuts with technique and time. Some can skip on the cleaning too. The techs don't actually live doing nails. They want to get you in and out as fast as they can. I would definitely want to be a regular of yours!

Wow. Over here in the UK (in my area West Yorkshire up north) for a pink and white French fade, it'd be around £30 ($36.30 ish). Some salons are run by Chinese people, and they typically charge much lower prices, usually around £20-£25. For something like this design (non Chinese salons) would charge around £45 to £50 ($54.45 to $60.50 I would personally charge around £35-£40 as it's only an infill and gel polish, I'd charge £40-£45 if it were acrylic). $83 dollars is £68.60, unless you live down in London (we have a North/South divide where it's typically way more expensive to live below a certain part of England, usually called the poverty line), you'd never pay that amount where I live. We have so many Chinese immigrants who come here and set up really really cheap salons, that it started watering down the price. I paid, in 2006, £40 for a set of white tip (with clear acrylic at a non Chinese Salon). Two years later the Chinese salons had overrun the town and the price had dropped to TWENTY pounds at many salons. The price really hasn't changed much here. You have to remain competitive, and charge a fair price, if you want the customers through your doors. I work as a mobile tech, and usually it's only friends and family. There's not really much custom around here as everyone wants the cheap nails.

I'm not a nail tech but I am an illustrator and the same thing applies to me. I charge a minimum of $80 for a piece and the price only increases depending on what you want. So many times people complain about the price being to high but they don't seem to realize that this is my job and I have to make a living. You are paying for my time and 15 years, practice and experience, not just the artwork.

GIRL!! Ok. Little Asian chain shops, you get what you pay for. Yeah, it’s cheap, but you also get crap work. This?! You?!? I would GLADY pay $100 or more for this. This is pure talent, love, and art.

Tabytha your pricing is very generous to the client! I'm assuming (hoping!) That most clients add on a decent tip. I'm a Brit and believe me, we are not as well educated on the importance of tips in the UK, it can be embarrassing sometimes! 😣
I have seen customers pay a bill down to the last penny, ensuring no change and snakey snakey-ing round the issue of a gratuity that way... personally think 20% is a minimum starting point really, & I would definitely tip you more for your work, that i guarantee you!!!
What is the general consensus irl though I wonder...?? How good are clients REALLY at showing their appreciation...? I'd be interested to hear how other nail techs, manicurists, hairdressers and beauticians fare too, because it's an issue people often skirt round- not everyone realises the importance of tipping for a service.
Once again, a fab upload! Love your work! Xx

In the uk the time this would take and the gems applied the set itself would have cost around about £35-£45 at a cheap nail place and then add about £1 for every gem they add

It’s a 150 set fair pricing but area changes a lot so I guess 150 but if I wanted these I’d do up to $250 for a wedding/special occasion. I used to charge $125 in the 90’s for my fancier sets they’d be 300 easy if I inflated based on that. These are GORGEOUS BTW 💕

I’m from London UK🇬🇧if they are Real Swarovski gems I charge between £40-£75.00 that’s $52.05-$97.59 US Dollars per set of nails, without any gems at all I charge £25 - $32.53 a set which is what most salons charge in the UK, Your Mother’s nails look amazing I bet she loved them? They are so beautiful👍🏽🥰🥰🥰

I would pay $100 pluss for a set like that!!! Plus tip on top if that. It's very hard to find nail techs that can do this quality of work and the swarovski crystals aren't cheep.

Why would the faux crystals be expensive they're just gonna be drilled off anywhere. I've see those decals on wish and AliExpress they're made in China anyway

Those are beautiful nails! I’ve never seen the unfoiled Swarovski stones before, do they reflect the color they are placed in better than the foiled back and when do you reach for those instead of the regular ones?
It was so kind of you to share your guide! I’m a nail tech (18 months now) and I have my prices set a little higher than the norm in my area so I don’t charge separately for each thing. After another 6 months I’ll raise them and have the experience under my belt to confidently do so. Sadly, I don’t have a client who would ask for these so my price would be just the $40 I charge for a fill and I only have 3 clients who ever want crystals on their nails :( I offer them and wear them myself to no avail.
    Thanks for sharing!!

    • @TabythaScottNails
      @TabythaScottNails  5 лет назад

Christina Matzen The unfoiled do take on the base color a bit so they are very nice to have to help ensure your crystals for sure match the set you’re doing. I would recommend you to adhere the unfoiled flatbacks with a crystal glue as resin doesn’t really stick to the smooth back at all. I’ve had a client lose a whole nail of these unfoiled stones because I used resin (sealed around too!) but they just don’t adhere with glue. When using a crystal gel or gel glue, you can kind of “bury” them in the gel (not covering the facets of course) and they will last with a quality crystal glue. Otherwise, they are bomb!
