My lipstick and mascara would always bleed out when I was young but not now at 52 strangely enough. I was told that my skin was dehydrated so was drawing moisture from my makeup. She was right! Once I started on a good skin care regimen at 20 something, the problem disappeared. Just recently I was ill so much so that I couldn't keep up my routine, when I recovered & started using makeup again it bleed again for the first time in nearly 30 years. Back into my skin care and no more bleeding. X Isi
Your face looks great! Nice smooth, even skin tone . The laser treatment served you well. I'll be coming back to this video again and again to try all these tips. I've been embarrassed more than once with red lip gloss bleeding under my lip. Don't use it anymore.
When you have this dark setting it's actually much easier to notice that you are wearing lenses. When you have the light setting it looks more natural :):) LOVE YOUR VIDEOS
Just want to say you are such a wonderful and inspiring individual. Every video I watch of yours makes me fall more and more in love with the profession I've chosen in the beauty industry:) Thank you Wayne!! On to the topic at hand.. Life saving advice for anyone wanting to wear a bold lip. I tried the eye primer today and loved it!!
Wayne could you please do a video on ways to make lipstick look good on dry/cracked lips? I love wearing bright colors but they really bring out the dry bits on my lips. Recommendations on products to help with that would be amazing!
Love your videos! So helpful. I love using Mac's prep & prime lip treatment! I also use lip erase and sometimes I even use it on my eyelids because it cancels out pigmentation but still looks like skin. I will literally wear any color of lipstick, so long wearing formulas like makeup forever aqua rouge are my favorite if I'm wearing red lips.
Great tips! Especially the eye primer to lips...can't wait to they that one. I use ELF's lip lock inviable lip liner and trace outside the lips with it and my lipstick will NOT travel into those pesky lines. Best of all it's only $3 at target! Best barrier I've ever used! Thanks for sharing, Wayne. :-)
Really Wayne, its hard enuf to listen witout fading into ur eyes with no contacts, but with them ur mesmerizing us... luv u and all ur amazing info...thx
Oh my goodness you look great. The treatment that you had really has done good good things. You look so much younger (not that your old). You are most handsome. Love your teaching!!
I do the same thing! Also, if I have an actual lip stain that matches, I put that on along with my filled in liner, then I use lipstick on top. I have have a tendency to rub my lips together a lot (kind of a weird tic of mine), so that helps a great deal.
I also put my lip liner all over my lips kind of as a stain and base before putting the color on. It helps to keep the color on my lips as well as prevent bleeding.
It sounds like you may be talking about dry/ dead skin cells? I love Paula's Choice "Lip Exfoliant"; it's a gritty paste that you rub on your lips, & they end up *super*-smooth (adding water lets you scrub longer; I remove with a warm washcloth, & always follow with a dense balm). Even if it didn't work so well, I'd still use it, because it just feels fantastic. (Warning: expect extra compliments/ return-kisses!)
I know your question was probably directed at Wayne but I find that the NYX Round Lipsticks are sooo pigmented, especially the darker colours. If you don't have NYX in your country, you can buy it on Cherry Culture (that's what I do as I live in the UK). The new Maybelline Vivids are pretty pigmented too, and MAC lipsticks are good if you can afford it.
I have always had lipstick issues. Every one makes my lips peel. And then I found Laura mercier lips stain. I tried it in the mall at Xmas. It the only thing that doesn't start balling up and making my lips peel and it didn't bleed or fade. Beautiful. Maybe I'll do a review on it soon. Try it!
I dont have a feathering issue or bleeding really. But, over the last couple years developed cracks in the corner of my mouth. No matter what I use over time my lipstick seeps into the corners so I am constantly checking and wiping it away. 1. I love red it is my go to and 2. Prefer matte sticks and matte liquid. Hate gloss never touch them. With or without liners it is still happening. Same with going over the edges like suggested. Such a pain aging is. Now I have heard of clear wax liners but have not come across one yet to try out.
Love your videos, always to informative!! Unlike some people, call themselves "gurus", but they only appeal to teenagers with their pretty videos, no substance whatsoever.
I swear by Elizabeth Arden's Lip-Fix, a lip primer that smooths and softens your lips. You only need a little bit, smooth over your bare lips and apply a few minutes before your lipstick. I am not a fan of Elizabeth Arden products but this stuff is amazing, been using it over ten years. Lip primer is essential, it helps smooth out the surface of your lips and you use less lipstick product. Btw I love your makeup tips and tricks Wayne, they are always really helpful! :o)
I have really pigmented lips and MAC's creme d'nude is way too light for me but i use it as a primer to get true colours out of my lippies :) Great tips. Thank you xx
I am a fan of blotting, always works like a charm. And I also prefer more matte lipsticks, as I get older I avoid shimmer as much as I can. Thank you for your videos, informative and brilliant as usual. :)
Wow, the mac studio fix trick is so freaking awesome, esp when it will make lips look fuller. Thanks for the pugmented lip tip.. Im a bit on rhe olive side and your suggestion for the mac product is very exciting. My friend avoids certain colours bc of bleeding. I will send hee this video. Ty love!! I so appreciate all the hard work that goes in to all you do for us. X
I definitely want to try the things you suggested, but am surprised you didn't mention lip liner. I think so many women are afraid of it but using either a clear lip liner or one the same shade as my lips before any color of lipstick really helps the color stay put for me.
ty wayne for such wonderful tips!! i honestly haven't worn lip products in quite a while due to some health created dental issues. i'm right in the middle of major dental work and very much looking forward to using lipsticks and such again!! these tips are so useful to me since i've been out of the game for so long... :)
waayne!i love your tips! you are th best makeup artist ever, such an inspiration for me. I started my makeup youtube channel in portuguese and i love to incorporate your tips in my videos! keep up the good work! love yaa..xoxo
Great tips... Thank you Wayne... You look fabulous by the way not that you didn't before but my god your skin is almost glowing.... you look so handsome
You've got ESP, Wayne! I was just going to ask you to do a vid about this. I love wearing red lipstick, but have a bitch of a time keeping it in place. I was a smoker for many years (quit 20 years ago!!), and have terrible lines around my lips. (Smokers, beware!). Also, being a mature woman (chronologically, at least), my lips are thin. I'll give these tips a try. Thanks for going the x-tra mile and giving more than 3!
I like to warm up a lipstick color onto back of my hand and then gently apply a thin layer with a ring finger or a lip brush. I feel that this technique prevents from applying too much onto the lips.
You look so wonderful tonight!!! Are you wearing the contacts cause your eyes are just standing out so well. Another great video I can't wait for the next one Thanks
Thank you for this video, these are very helpful! I do have one question, though. How does one stop the white-ish "circle" on the inner lip from forming or appearing after a few hours? Thank you to anyone who answers this in advance!
I know you probably get this a lot but your eyes are incredibly beautiful! Actually, you are incredibly beautiful! I love your channel and you are absolutely amazing!
Hi Wayne. I was wondering if there are tips to stop your foundation from going onto your lips? I'd imagine lipliner helps to keep this from happening? As a guy I don't wear lipstick just chapstick so I don't use lipliner. Could this be a problem with how I set my foundation? I use liquid foundations because I think they look the most natural on me. Let me know if you have a video on this already. I've been with you since your "Makeup for men video" and I haven't stopped watching since! Thanks!
Wow! So many ways to keep lipstick where it belongs! I use the blotting method and I also use a lip pencil (usually in the color of the lipstick) to create a stain, then apply a thin layer of lipstick on top. From here I either leave it as it is, or I blot and then apply another thin layer. I'll definitely try out your tips, just for a bit of diversity and because they're cool and completely new to me :D PS: You're awesome, you know? And your voice here is like cat purr to my ears.. :)
OMG- this was freaking awesome! Didnt even know some of those products existed. Funny note- I used to do the tissue thing all of the time in the early 90s bc i saw Cindy Crawford on a talk show & she was talking abt how to get the matte look for your lips. Lol. Yes, Im old!
i have always loved your videos but now i dont know why im loving them even more! (if that could be possible) you seem so honest and obviously it shows how well you know everything! thank you so much for sharing these amazing tips! xo
I currently use the outlining with powder method. Works pretty well, especially with red lips. I'm gonna try the eye primer trick! Thanks for the tips, Wayne! --- Nicole
Great tips, Wayne! Can you do a video on how to stop concealer from fading under your eyes, or anywhere else? I have this problem all of the time! I wake up at 6 in the morning, do my makeup at least 30 minutes later and it seems to fade in about 2 hours or less! But if it's on the weekends and I'm doing it like at around noon, it stays on perfectly fine. Why does the time difference cause the fade and how can I stop it?
I always use a lip pencil to outline my lips, then use a lip brush to apply a lipstick, then use that same brush to apply a thin layer of gloss. It seems to work for me! You will never see me out in public without lipstick on.
I find applying lip pencil all over the lip first then applying the lipstick really makes the lipstick last and set longer. It has to be of the same color otherwise it will create different color or shade that you may or may not like.
Feathering is such a pain. I just got three brightest lipsticks and matching pencils. I also got a Dior clear barrier pencil to prevent bleeding, etc. Will see how I go.... Hate those vertical lip lines
Older women don't necessarily want to wear dark or too bright a lipstick color, especially with a matte finish, because they are aging, right Wayne? So which lipstick shades and finishes are best for aging lips?
I would like to see more vedios on lipstick and lips. I'm barely starting to wear lip stick and think you would give great info on lips and the type of lips and lipsticks to use. :)
My lipstick and mascara would always bleed out when I was young but not now at 52 strangely enough. I was told that my skin was dehydrated so was drawing moisture from my makeup. She was right! The eye primer tip definitely works. I usually apply a bit just around my lips too.
So many of these tips using eyeshadow primer I have never heard of before!! Can't wait to try some of these the next time I wear red lipstick!!
I put an eye primer and a lip barrier on my lips and and it worked amazing! Super long lasting! Thank you so much Wayne you're our saviuor!
I truly appreciate your UNIVERSAL tips.
No! I watch as i need specific products. Wayne is my first choice for good make up info! He's awesome!! SUCH good info!
Such a beautiful masculine face and eyes... So smart, so open to share his skills... great man and personality.
Your face looks great! Nice smooth, even skin tone . The laser treatment served you well. I'll be coming back to this video again and again to try all these tips. I've been embarrassed more than once with red lip gloss bleeding under my lip. Don't use it anymore.
Most ''makeup gurus'' I see I really don't learn anything from them and from you I Learn so much thank you
Wayne, your skin looks lovely!
You are absolutely beautiful in every way! Thank you for your time.
When you have this dark setting it's actually much easier to notice that you are wearing lenses. When you have the light setting it looks more natural :):) LOVE YOUR VIDEOS

i really love urban decay lip primer potion, it helps my lipstick to stay put & also makes it last twice as long as without primer)
I really want to try the hourglass lip stains. Gosh you are a gold mine of information
for me i use a light coating of setting powder on my lips before i line them and put lipstick on. it really works!

Urban decay do a clear lip pencil too in "ozone", perfect for my clients whose lips are more prone to bleeding

yes its a very blue toned, incredibly pigmented, almost dry feeling. much nicer than the russian red lipglass. the lipglass always feathers
