If you have a shield you can also block the hits his light clones do and then roll his actual strike. They are much easier on your stamina than his other attacks.
I was stuck on him since the day the DLC was released. I learned Phase 1 so well that I could do it without getting hit, but the light and the FPS drops in Phase 2 made me use a shield for the first time in Elden Ring. Victory is a victory, though!

The fact that he has no downtime after the bloodflame poke is insane. Even if you strafe it to left (which the animation would lead you to do) he can immediately start another attack before the bloodflame explodes. You're using one of the fastest weapons in the game and even then have to roll like 5 times before getting to hit him once. I think the boss would be significantly better if they just lowered his tracking a little so you could strafe more of his slower hits
the bloodflame poke is a flowchart string common in elden ring. if you strafe it or roll behind he *will always* followup with a quick attack, but if you dodge in front of him, which is has much stricter timing, he will be open because you will bait a different slower followup. all elden ring bosses operate on this logic, they string their combos based on how you dodge each hit in the string. I'm surprised that 2 years later the majority of the community isn't aware of this and still believes bosses combos are rng or that they leave no openings. margit teaches you that if you roll behind him he will always stop his combo with a tail swipe or by jump away while staying in front of him will bait him into finishing his string with that massive overhead hit that leaves him open to a full charge r2

Honestly I don't mind the long combos and high damage, he's supposed to be the hardest boss in the game after all, but the fact that he has basically NO downtime between combos is unacceptable. Especially his second phase feels to RNG, he's too fast for spells or heavy weapons, too aggressive to keep up the pressure on him, high poise doesn't help you because it takes too much time to regenerate, and if you get hit just ONCE mid combo, he stunlocks you into the rest of it, then you're forced to heal and start all over again, praying that you don't get hit. Even with +10 summons this fight feels impossible. You can learn his moveset, yes, and Blue has shown us very well that is perfectly doable, but this DOES NOT JUSTIFY the extreme artificial difficulty and terribile design choices of this boss. And if I see someone tell me the same old "Git gud" bullshit I swear I'll spit between thier eyes so fucking hard their brain will explode as if it were a .50 Caliber. From Soft cannot continue to get away with these design choices. Want to make your game difficult? I don't see the problem, just don't make the difficulty too artificial. Btw, exactly WHEN will From learn to optimize their games? On PC frame drops and stutters make the game UNPLAYABLE.

You pretty much just roll and roll and roll. There's barely any opportunity to use strafes and literally no jumps (I've tried jumping almost all of his attacks and nothing works).
yea thats the only bad part of the fight imo. I was able beat it because it took me like a hundred tries and i dodged those combos so many times in his phase 1 that i could do it with my eyes closed. The lights stopped affecting me after that but thats bs difficulty

Amazing run dude, finally a true no hit run where you don't reduce the boss to 1 or 2 moves before he dies. This boss is top 3 in the dlc for sure. Many ppl are complaining about his 2nd phase attacks (some ppl have actual issues like fps problems and that's understandable), but after dying to him a lot, it forced me to experiment with how i dodge his 2nd phase and i got around to consistently dodging all his attacks. Sometimes i take a few hits but i beat him. Great final boss. you just gotta adapt to the new way bosses are designed.

I don't think you can without light roll. This is the one attack in the fight that is actually extremely overtuned.. you dodge the 1st slash if you're in front of him, the second hit always clips you so you get hit by the whole thing. It's so brutal that I genuinely think it's unintentional.
It looks like he is rolling back to the left though. So for me it seems you can dodge the second hit since it hits above your head missing you. Idk though i cant get him down haha
Well you gotta make sure that you are beside him by default. Being in front of him isn’t really safe and when dodging that attack, dodge towards the direction of the first swing. (It’s preferred if you’re at the left because the 2nd swing goes from left to right)
Love this fight. The only complaint I have is in phase 2 the hair sometimes makes it so I can’t see what his next attack is. Other than that though very fun fight.
I beat the boss with cragblade great katana and 20 blessings and focused mostly on hitting the rolling attack. Learned most of the fight, but was still missing how to dodge a few attacks. Thank you, this was very enlightening. Also, as i was playing the dlc i was wonder what kinda of crazy challenges are gonna do with the bosses. And lets say im not disappointed. Nice job.
This is what I call a proper worlds first no hit/no damage run of that boss. There is another, but it was just shield parry that reduced his moveset to just two moves which was kinda lame.
I can no hit first phase consistently now but still gets clapped in the second phase in like 10 seconds. This video has helped me a ton to just get a better sense of the phase 2 move set.

honestly he is harder for me with a summon because he switches targets mid combo and runs away a lot. I feel you really either need to use a big shield, or memorize the entire fight which is doable but takes a lot of time

Bleed feels like the only way to beat this boss. Without bleed I couldn't get him under 50%, but today I beat him after a few hours with a full arcane bleed build
Actually, not really. There are more people beating this boss without status effects. I also did a 2nd nohit without relying on status effects as well not too long ago.

When I saw the second phase on my blind-playtrough I genuinelly though there is no freaking way to dodge every single attack + beam without taking any sort of damage at all with medium roll (what most players use), i think there are just not enough i-frames to dodge everything no hit unless you are on light roll, cheers
Light roll and mid roll has the same number of I-frames. Just the roll distance is different. But yea, I prefer light roll due to the necessary distance it covers whenever I want to dodge the cross slash. Also for the illusions, I mostly sprinted so I don’t think it matters too much

For his left->right->sweep move, is your solution hugging his right leg and dodge to the left for the first hit? I keep getting hit by the second hit..
I try to go beside him, preferably to the left (his right). And then roll towards the direction of the first swing. The 2nd swing goes from left to right so it’s preferred if you stay beside the right leg
what I hate the most about this fight is miquellas stupid hair which is concealling his attacks half of the time... gj on the kill though, I will bang my head against this wall for a few more hours

This is what i would consider the first REAL challenge clear of this boss. Congrats. Unfortunately, i think FromSoft kinda overdid it with the second phase. I already beat him at lvl150 but i can confidently say that you just can't ask from the big majority of players to study the fight enough to know how/where to dodge to avoid all the lingering holy stuff that comes after his attacks. Most clears of this boss will either be cheese or multiplayer bruteforcing.

ive been fighting him for the past day with mimic tear and still can barely even get him into second phase lmao
honestly he is harder for me with a summon because he switches targets mid combo and runs away a lot. I feel you really either need to use a big shield, or memorize the entire fight which is doable but takes a lot of time
@@Natural_OrderWell that’s kind of the reason why I mostly do solo now. Aggro switch can be frustrating at times cuz it can mess up with positioning strats

Beautiful fight! Took me 5h to beat this boss but this really helps me understand some of the moves i wasn't able to consistently dodge. I hope I will be able to beat him at RL1...
Dude good shit I knew how to dodge everything except the criss cross attack which was a 50/50 for me. I beat him yesterday and it was so worth learning his move set. I just wished people would stop complaining about a bosses difficulty and actually learn from their mistakes.
This guy’s attack in phase 2 deals more damage to my frames than my character
What really gets me is you're only level 6. You're doing like no damage outside of bleed procs and crits, and still got this done.

Bleed feels like the only way to beat this boss. Without bleed I couldn't get him under 50%, but today I beat him after a few hours with a full arcane bleed build
Actually, not really. There are more people beating this boss without status effects. I also did a 2nd nohit without relying on status effects as well not too long ago.

This is beyond impressive, I can beat the first phase nohit but on my winning attempt I needed 13/14 flasks lol.
I get that. The 2nd Phase is a lot harder than the 1st but after fighting him for 17 hours, I figured that the only troublesome attack is the cross slash combo even in Phase 1 but that’s about it.

@@roguemc-j3p it took me 8 hours to beat the boss with no summons and I strongly encourage waiting for the inevitable nerf or summoning because atm this boss is ridiculous.
I just need some visibility in that damn 2nd phase. Uneven ground + Light Shafts + Miquellas Flowing hair = Literally cannot see shit half the time. Have beaten him (Same fingerprint sheild + spear and Golden Braid talisman) but my god, it feels unfair sometimes.

When I saw the second phase on my blind-playtrough I genuinelly though there is no freaking way to dodge every single attack + beam without taking any sort of damage at all with medium roll (what most players use), i think there are just not enough i-frames to dodge everything no hit unless you are on light roll, cheers
Light roll and mid roll has the same number of I-frames. Just the roll distance is different. But yea, I prefer light roll due to the necessary distance it covers whenever I want to dodge the cross slash. Also for the illusions, I mostly sprinted so I don’t think it matters too much
@@thebluehood35 Then I was wrong but right, if you have the same amount of i-frames, let's say 1s, but you can roll longer distance than me, you can probably dodge easier huge hitboxes as this truck's moveset than me that I will probably get hit just when finishing rolling cause I didn't get past the entire attack even if I roll at the last possible moment, thanks for leting me know

it's not guaranteed depending on your moveset (greatswords and heavier weapons) WILL get punished if you go for a attack

For his left->right->sweep move, is your solution hugging his right leg and dodge to the left for the first hit? I keep getting hit by the second hit..
I try to go beside him, preferably to the left (his right). And then roll towards the direction of the first swing. The 2nd swing goes from left to right so it’s preferred if you stay beside the right leg
what I hate the most about this fight is miquellas stupid hair which is concealling his attacks half of the time... gj on the kill though, I will bang my head against this wall for a few more hours

Unfortunately, i think FromSoft kinda overdid it with the second phase. I already beat him at lvl150 but i can confidently say that you just can't ask from the big majority of players to study the fight enough to know how/where to dodge to avoid all the lingering holy stuff that comes after his attacks.
Most clears of this boss will either be cheese or multiplayer bruteforcing.
