I love the house. People have to understand, settlers back in 1840, were self sufficient. Went to town, maybe once a year. Had chickens, pigs, milk cow, horses and utility wagon, plows. God Bless them. They made a strong, self reliant nation, called America The Beautiful.

It may have been shot ten years ago, but this is still one lovely home and property. I am sure those who purchased it a decade ago have had a nice life here and have made many priceless memories for all those who have spent time here.

I use to live in a spot out in the country where you had to have 4 wheel drive to get up the drive way and it was 1 way in & 1 way out across 2 creeks. The beginning of this video when he was driving in it reminded me so much of my old farm house. I really miss living in the country...
I love that garden,, id create another stone wall a bit further up, clear the brush and then turn it into a veg garden,, rebuild the barn. Have some goats and chickens.. that house is my dream omg
Good retreat for writer/artist, or refuge from hustle-bustle, takes you back to simpler life same as 1840. Neat as a pin inside. You can see where the dog scratched at the front door. Maybe the creek's deep enough to cool off in the summer. Great place to loaf around, get away from it all.
This has to be the fifth time I have seen this [place and each time I fall in love with it all over again. The setting and house is so up my ally that I wish the first time I saw in on the realtor's website, I should have bought it.

I live in a little neighbor hood kinda like that. I do have houses next door to me, but I have lots of woods and a creek right behind my house that I am blessed to see every morning. All the wildlife and beauty nature displays. My neighborhood is very quiet. So whenever I go down to the creek, it's nice and peaceful
Love the Cabin its just too dark inside for my taste. I would of added bigger windows so you can enjoy the outside scenery awhile being inside with a nice view and also for more light. The drive to it was intense but it's the perfect place for privacy and peace. I would love to vacation at a place like that. Amazing!
What a beautiful peaceful setting, takes you back to a better more caring place. It was a time when you knew your neighbors and the community took care of each other, when entertainment was centered around the church or school.

That is the most gorgeous little cabin I think I've ever seen. I would love one just like that near a creek, with room to grow the most extensive garden ever -- all the flowers I'd ever want to look at plus everything I love to eat. Broccoli, Cauliflower, corn, squash, potatoes (sweet potatoes too, and red!), strawberries, I'll bring along my blackberry because it's such a wonderful producer...ahhhhhh! Listening to that creek put me right out! Had to open my eyes to let you know how much I would love a place like this. Thank you for this video, Brad!

And don't be cruel to people by leaving it on this longgggg. I'm retired and pray I have at least 15-20 more yrs to enjoy solitude in the woods. I'd be cleaning up that creek, put a little dam in, stock some trout, have a couple sheep, geese, goats, chickens, maybe cow or horse and sleigh maybe. Definitely dogs to keep me company while I design & make quilts. This was a terrible tease for me at this hour. I LOVE it!!!! But thanks for sharing or I would have never seen it. I love this place inside and out it is very nice. Some years ago my father built one he got his off of other cabins. He could lay bricks so he did the hearth with rocks he got out of his creek.

@ Island Chick....Yep, in the winter, the snow and ice would be a nightmare on that small road. And what about flooding around the cabin ? And, what if you needed emergency services ? Would take the police or ambulance "forever" to assist you. I really like the cabin, but too far removed for me.
Know that you have to adapt your lifestyle to live this way. Work from home or self employed? Central Kentucky can get some winter weather but it won’t be on the ground long. More of an inconvenience than a problem. If you take an income hit that may work out since your taxes and other expenses go down. Your wood stove saves energy money. Have a nice manageable garden then can in the summer. Wish it was mine!
Talk about being out in the "boondocks"! Beautiful, charming and very serene! Love it, but not looking to move. Grew up in the summer in my late grandparents house on Cape Cod built in 1776 so love old houses! We didn't have any doorknobs either, just black wrought iron latches which I also love! Only things I'd add would be a dishwasher and washer /dryer so I wouldn't have to take the clothing down to the creek and beat them against the rocks or drive to the nearest laundromat! Also, love Dutch doors and fireplaces in kitchens! Thanks for sharing~
Right!! We could move in together and cuddle by the fireplace. Bon fire at night. Wake up in the morning to the sound of the water. OOPS sorry got carried away. Its lovely.

Looks great. The difficult access makes it even more unique and attractive. They have properties in the Rockies that you can only access 4X4 during winter. Get a serious gen set, stock up on the spirits, beer, booze, build in your brick pizza oven, what more more could you ask for? Great getaway for winter especially.

This was deLIGHTful. Just a sweet, sweet cabin, and the setting is just gorgeous. I have loved my New York City life for these past several decades, but as things slow down within me, I think more about having things slow down ~around~ me too! Wasn't really thinking about going as far as KY, but (from previous visits, as well as from this video) it is a beautiful place. Keep the great videos coming, Brad, you're giving just that right combination of information and personality (and hamminess) to the task. Thanks!
It's really beautiful but having lived in remote places in Scotland I would be interested to see exactly how much maintenance goes on in the middle of winter? Not that it would bother me but a !ot of people can't take the isolation... I would be in there in a heartbeat! I would love this place ! I do love this! I would rebuild the barn or what you said, as I have horses. I would have it off grid and on solar/water wind power. It's gorgeous! Oh this makes me wish I lived over there! It's gorgeous... I can't say it enough!
This is so beautiful! The property is awesome and I love the cabin. I see some things I would definitely change to suit my own style, for instance wrought iron spindle on the stairs and a few other things. Otherwise it’s a perfect little cabin that I would love to own!! It’s fantastic!

Perfect Point, @ Forward_Ever &_Ever! I’ve been given the Honor (from my Maternal Grandmom!) to keep & preserve one of our’ ancestors’ “War Between The States” / “War of Northern Aggression” letters from 1863 [Manasas, Virginia] …and just as you stated about this home, I too feel about “..natural beauty & history.” Be they homesteads and/or historical documents. Nice cabin but it doesn't look like a nice way in or out! God bless whoever is living there! They need to widen the roads & add some bridges across that creek!
Hi Brad, Great knowledge on the history. What an amazing and beautiful home. So comfortable and inviting. I love that little window in the kitchen and just all the extra fine details. Appreciate the tip on the deck stairs. I drink a lot of wine too. Thanks, Darryl
Brad, thank you so much for sharing this truly beautiful property. I owned mountain property in the San Juan Mountains of CO and just can't seem to veer from returning there. Your video almost made me reconsider. Great video and I even like the road leading into the property as it would make looky lou's turn around. I'm searching for seclusion.
This is an unexplored territory but, after you reach the cabin, looks great !!! Amazing how you have to drive across the creek !? I'm from a tiny island republic of SINGAPORE in Asia. So, this seems like an indulgence - the huge land. Thank you for sharing 😊
It's beautiful! But you would need a full time grounds keeper just to keep it mowed. A tractor with a snow blade would have to be your family vehicle in th wimter. Altho as lovely as it is, it is very impractical in case of an emergency, being that far out, with bad roads on top of that. A person would need to be life flighted just to get to an emergency care unit. If it were me, I would prefer having at least one neighbor close by in case you needed help. Beautiful but just a tad too secluded for me.
Not a place you would consider for a primary residence. This is a "get away from it all" type place for rest and relaxation. Suitable for the more affluent ($$$) class.
Ok. Now I know I've seen this video before. I thought I had a dream about this property. This is the second time I've seen this and it is B-E-A-uitful!!!!

Hi Ken York, we JUST got this one --- dare I say 'better' property and antique log cabin??? check it out - VIDEO here along with pics, price, etc. bluegrassteam.com/log-cabin-big-land-40-acre-farm-tour-ponds-barns-home-and-land-for-sale-kentucky/
My Kinda Place !
Thats a Slice of Heaven ....
My Toyota Would Make it Just Fine 😀
For THAT sweet surprise at the end...my mini van would get me there just fine!
Gorgeous! The land and Sugar Creek Cabin. 😍💚
I'm in love.....you can feel the peace. I like that it's so remote. Makes it even better.

relax on narrow road..as the guy coming at u is also relaxing..lol
Exactly what I thought, what you do if someone is coming towards you? Relax! Awful looking creek sorry we have better clean free running water here not my cup tea at all, whatever happened to the trees? Oh well, obviously the narrator is in love wait till the honeymoon is over !!:-).
One moves to a location like this because on coming traffic is not supposed to be a factor !
If one is not invited,
They shouldn't be there !
@@jls99500 my thoughts exactly,,I live on top of a mountain, the only one who should be here is my cat,s an a bear who comes through whenever he wants,an will not learn a thing,,,and me,,ha
What about the sewage ? I dont' believe any sewer lines could be accommodated . Are out houses the solution ?
@@dorothyholder9229 So I guess that bathroom upstairs is just for looks... ever heard of a septic tank? There are no sewer lines out in the country!
The road alone is mesmerizing
This was deLIGHTful. Just a sweet, sweet cabin, and the setting is just gorgeous. I have loved my New York City life for these past several decades, but as things slow down within me, I think more about having things slow down ~around~ me too! Wasn't really thinking about going as far as KY, but (from previous visits, as well as from this video) it is a beautiful place. Keep the great videos coming, Brad, you're giving just that right combination of information and personality (and hamminess) to the task. Thanks!
Hi Keith Gardner, check this new property out - bluegrassteam.com/stone-houses-for-sale-in-kentucky/
I love the concrete and wood walls very unique and very antique
My goodness! This is my ideal. How beautiful.
Only downside is winter snow...but wow, what a beautiful home.
That's a beautiful place ...that drive in is so great !!!
I still drool over this!!😍😍😍
Add about 4 more smaller cabins ( rental business) Get Back To Nature
"County maintained"? What's that mean down there, stocked w/trout?
Respect from Pakistan for your love for nature and peace and solitude
I would want a 1/2 bath downstairs at least but otherwise I LOVE this place .
Good lord I can’t get enough of this please. Just WOW 🤩
I can't say it enough!
it's southern Kentucky, winter last about 9 days.......
Where in Scotland?! My husband is from the Crinan area...we are looking to buy a place there:) it's my favorite spot on the planet!
I am Kentucky born and bred, and i live in the country also. Jonesville, Ky. And this place is absolutely beautiful. 😍
This is so beautiful! The property is awesome and I love the cabin. I see some things I would definitely change to suit my own style, for instance wrought iron spindle on the stairs and a few other things. Otherwise it’s a perfect little cabin that I would love to own!! It’s fantastic!

Years later watching it again. It is my all time favorite property. I came to wonder what did it go for? I just showed it to my husband, he went oh yeah! Lets move from Norway. LOL :D It is beyond gorgeous.
This is a gorgeous property! Too bad this was two years ago! Thanks so much for sharing this.
we have a similar place - go to BluegrassTeam dot com
Brad Simmons cool beans! Thanks.
Omg this is my dream home! My goodness it’s all so tasteful done! Even the drive there is magnificent! So beautiful! The owners are very lucky! Could add the perfect secret garden ⛲️🪷🌾🪵🕯️🐦⬛🗝️🦉📜🏮
This is absolutely amazing!! You've just gotta appreciate the natural beauty & history. Thanks for sharing bro. I'd never sell a place like that...from generation to generation.
As an aside, my ancestor feared not those awful.50 cal. rounds, but getting wet from rain ~ causing the lingering & suffering death that pneumonia brought!🇺🇸
@@davidmoorea1961 it must be an honor...hmmm
I love stuff like this. That Creek just made the whole place. Love it. That Dutch door is awesome too. 😊😃
One would definitely need a 4 all wheel drive for sure! I could only imagine what it looks like in the winter time.. OMG!
I have dream of a place like this ever sense i found this video,Brad great job showing this i never get tired of watching.
OMG 💖💖💖 IM IN LOVE WITH THAT CABIN ! ITS

Thank you mr.simmons !
😊
It is gorgeous and I would love it. Just before winter stockpile food and wood so won't need to get out
Just watching the video relaxed me!! I am from the Midwest and the wife and I are planning on relocating in a few years to the country again!! Thx for the most perfect videos!!
Nice cabin but it doesn't look like a nice way in or out! God bless whoever is living there!
They need to widen the roads & add some bridges across that creek!
Every day youd be looking at the window looking for the zombies.
@@Angry_Anus 😂🤣
I've never seen anything so perfectly beautiful!
How beautiful. That rug at the bottom of stairs, however, is looking for a neck to break. Might want to turn that toward the couch.
Absolutely beautiful! Such a charming cabin.
Hi Brad,
Great knowledge on the history. What an amazing and beautiful home. So comfortable and inviting. I love that little window in the kitchen and just
all the extra fine details. Appreciate the tip on the deck stairs. I drink a lot of wine too.
Thanks,
Darryl
Beautiful cabin and land but I question if it would be a flood zone at times.
yeah, it would be a shame if it could survive perfectly since 1840, lol
I just knew at any minute you were going to say" and this happy little tree lives here, sure"
Nice! Wouldn’t want to be there when it rains, though.
I looked at one of these 10- 12 years ago. IK am 5'10" and had to stay hunched over because the because in the mid 1800 people were shorter than today
Gorgeous home!
Did they fix the county road ?
That “road” is not safe, it is falling apart needs a bridge some concrete etc....
Its called a ford, a place for vehicles to cross shallow water, not that a city girl would know anything but where the nearest Starbucks is.
Obviously dont understand the difference between county roads and highways.
Brad, you show real quality.
