    A minor technical correction that doesn't really affect the info given here (but I am a technician and a nitpicker). CPAPs have a minor amount of internal flash memory, but they do not have a hard drive. The job a hard drive would do is what the SD card is for.

    • @fitybux4664
      @fitybux4664 Год назад +2

      I think he said "hard drive" to dummy it down. (Instead of saying internal flash memory.) But when we dummy it down, we get things like Resmed saying SDHC cards don't work. Maybe there's a happy medium, or maybe people just need to have a technical mind?

    I've been using my ResMed 11 just over a month. Sleep apnea has delayed a total knee replacement for six weeks because the painkillers afterwards combined with the apnea could put me to sleep permanently. My "events" are reportedly way down, but I don't know if I trust those reports. To do a sleep study with a sleep ring, I guess I need to turn off the bluetooth on my CPAP, which is why I'm trying to get an SD card pronto.

    Have you tried using a Wi-Fi SD card adapter? I think the reason why not to use larger capacity card is because it's a different format than the FAT 32. The larger capacity cards can be reformatted to FAT32 with a program because windows no longer supports it natively.

      You will most likely have to re-format your SD CARD on your Mac. Pop in the SD card into the MacBook, go to the disk utility application and click on the SD card icon you just popped in. Right click on the SD card icon, click to erase and select FAT. Select enter and wait for your MAC to erase and reformat the card. You might want to right click on the SD card icon and change the name of the card to ResMed or something similar. Be sure the lock tab is unlocked by pushing the tab up before installing in your Air Sense 11.

    Close, but not technically accurate. The data on a sd card is stored on nand flash chips which have limited write cycles. Most sd cards have MLC NAND which has roughly 10,000 P/E cycles MTBF. TLC is about 3,000 and QLC is about 1,000. SLC (single layer cell) NAND has 100,000 P/E rating, but are typically more expensive. Kingston Industrial cards have 30,000 P/E cycles and are around $30 for a 32 GB card.
    You can help extend the write cycle limitations by getting the largest block capacity cards that you can find, in SLC or MLC type cards. The more blocks, the less overwrites that will occur in each block over time.
    Formatting an sd card (or any storage device) does not write data on each block unless you specifically select that option. Formatting storage merely clears the logical or high level formatting allocation units which points to where the files are stored on the device. High level or quick formatting does not change the data that is stored in each block, and can be reversed using recovery software.
    Each user should determine their need for usage data and choose the appropriate storage device. For a user with little to no inconvenience if the data is lost, a cheap but reliable storage card will do. For someone such as I that must prove usage information for occupational licensing, choose the most dependable option.
