I only wear pressons. SHEIN has some great ones (always look at all product pictures and look at review pictures before buying. ALSO TRY SEARCHING HANDMADE NAILS - they are the best quality thicker ones and they look like gel or acrylic sets). I do a similar thing but i do a base coat and then A PEEL OFF base coat THEN glue. I put the base on majority of the nail, peel off in the middle leaving a tiny margin and then i use the glue (beetles nail glue is amazing - make sure its not the gel glue but the air dry glue). I leave the little margin because if you put the peel off all the way to the side wall it peels off sooner than you want them to - leaving the margin allows it to grip the perimeter of the nail. then when you want to remove just use a wood stick or cuticle scraper to get under the nail and then peel the nail off or use a peel off base remover solution to loosen the peel off base with less tension. GAME CHANGER.
5:10 in regards to the importance of leaving a small margin between the base coat and cuticle as well as the sidewalls. I know many here know why but for those of us new to nails don’t know. Im aware of course that you need to make sure no product goes on the skin, this goes without saying, but if someone could explain why it’s important to leave a space between base coat and sidewalls/cuticles, that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you 😊
you answered your own question! Yes, no base coat should touch the skin, because of future allergic reactions and of course- liftings! if the base coat touches the skin, it will not adhere to it like to the prepared nails and it will start to lift from the sidewall or cuticle
I do press ons for my sister. I’m totally gonna send her this video with my next care package that includes some base coat & a small lamp!!! Thank you so much! ❤
I've heard about (but never tried) using peel-off base coat on both the natural nails and the inside of the press-ons (only the portion that will be adhered to the nail beds; not the free edge) then using nail glue to attach the nails. The theory is the nail glue will attach the nails more securely than the adhesive tabs, but the peel-off base coat will enable you to remove the nails w/o damaging your nail beds AND you'll be able to remove the adhesive from the underside of the press-ons so you can use them again. Inquiring minds want to know: does this work?

hi! i have a question about putting the nails on the sticky tabs. some videos suggest holding the nail at an angle, and then pushing the sticky tab with the nail into the cuticle. you just seem to put it flat on and keep the little gap underneath, but which method is actually better?
Thank you for this! I surely will try the base coat trick. Now you said don't get close to the cuticle with bars coat and sticker but won't that leave space for water to sit in?
The margin should be small and if you prep the cuticle area well , then apply the press on close to the cuticle- this area would be “locked” from the moisture access. However, sometimes there might be a little pocket, depending on the curve of the natural. In this case, I recommend looking for press ons that will match the curve better.
@Nailcou is it an acceptable solution to put a top coat on over the nail that would fill in this gap? I get my hair caught in the edges of my press ons a lot, especially when using the sticky tabs.
@@yolandiehamilton1607That's a great question! That's what I have always done and it works great however I'm not sure if it is an acceptable solution. It is similar to what she does with full cover tips, she leaves a gap at the cuticle and fills it in with builder gel and then top coat.

@@Nailcou Can you use a top coat gel if you don't have a base coat gel or if you ran out of base coat gel? Could a gel base coat from a polygel set work as well?
For the last couple of washes I’ve been trying what I believe is called a “shampoo brush.” It’s round, about the size of a palm, with 1 inch long “spikes” (sounds menacing, but it’s not). I got mine for $5, then later saw that Amazon has a 2 pack for $5. Then the brush works on my scalp, instead of my fingernails/press on’s. I get my entire scalp wet, put shampoo all over, then work in the shampoo with the shampoo brush to make suds + clean my scalp. I tried putting the shampoo directly on the brush but it didn’t work well at all.
Get the tabs and after you put them on, get a hair dryer and hold on the nail for about 5 mins or so, the heat helps the glue on the tab to melt and adhere better
One of the most common reasons for this is caused by using press-ons that have a C-curve on nail beds that are flat. Flexible plastics that have been molded into a shape will always try to return to their molded shape when deformed. When the press-on is more curved than your nail bed and you have to press down on the press-on to flatten it a bit so it makes contact with the adhesive tab, that creates tension in the press-on; that tension is caused by the press-on trying to return to its curved shape. That's what makes it pop off. If that's what's causing your nails to pop off, look for press-ons that are flatter. Ideally you want the press-ons to make contact with your nail beds without you having to press down on them at all.
I switched to press-ons after having an allergy to gel. The glue tabs don't hold up for me. I use the glue and most of the time they'll last me at least a week to almost two before one pops off. I do find certain glues last longer tho!
I really want to do that too! But I’m allergic to HEMA, di-HEMA and MMA, so I don’t know if the acrylic powder itself contains HEMA or it’s just the monomer
@@Nailcou When you take off the press on nails you leave the basecoat on. How will you remove the basecoat? If it's with aceton you still will damage the nail.
I developed an allergy to gel products, but acrylic seems to be ok. If we can't use gel, can we use regular polish or a thin layer of acrylic to protect the natural nail?
I've been doing a similar method with HEMA free matte get top coat. One layer vs. two layers with a thin gel peel off base underneath then apply with air dry brush on glue. Is there a reason you would recommend base coat vs matte top coat to protect the nail underneath the press ons?
Base coats generally have better adhesion, so they can stay on for a long time without any need to file them off, that's why I prefer them. I don't take it off after removing press ons - it stays on. But any other kind of coating will definitely do the job too :)
But how do you deal with the gell that’s on your nail. Whst to you do when doing g a new set? Soak off the gell in acetone? That’s like once a week. Too much chemical.
It seems like most press on nails were designed for flat nail beds 😁 if you have some hollow space underneath , try applying a little bit more base coat in the center during the prep 😉
Hi Anastasia! I have a problem: I used to do my nails with gel polish. But then I got a severe allergic reaction - thinking it was HEMA! So I got all HEMA free products, from prep to finish. I still got a allergic reaction! So I can’t use any gel related products anymore (I am very sad about it because I wanted to get into it career wise! I just can’t try any other products because I’m so scared I’ll get another reaction. I can’t even do other people’s nails with gloves on!) So I also do press on nails now. Can I use regular nail polish instead of gel polish for the preparation part? Thank you in advance and I just wanted to say that I love your name! It’s so pretty and suits you well ❤️
I would never use the gel to then add sticky and then nail. It's because you then have to soak your nails with acetone for a while to remove the gel, then use the machine and it'll make your nails weak as well. What you can do is prep your nails, then add sticky, then glue and last the nail. mine last 2 wks if you take care of them. I also wash dishes, but the hot water will loosen the sticky, so put gloves on, and it'll last you longer. To remove it, soak them in warm water for at least 20 min and with a nail tool slowly remove the nail. I then add a little acetone in a finger bowl dish for 2 to 5 min and it'll remove the glue. Use a paper towel to wipe off the glue and then with the tool slowly remove the excess glue then soak again. Repeat then use the nail sand buffer to prep and finish your nail. Clean your nails and wash your hands then add cuticle oils to your nails. Leave your nails breath once in awhile. You don't want to catch a fungus. Don't use nails more than 3 weeks. Remember it soaks up water and goes in between the nails. You don't have acrylic on.
I have Very thin nails. I would like to be able to grow them out. If, I don't want to wear nail polish. Can I just use a nail builder or rubber by itself??
So I'm wondering...because I'm not sure I want to apply gel on my natural nail, would regular polish work instead? I want to protect my natural nail so I use the tabs. Any suggestions ?
You can try to adjust them, by filing the cuticle and shaping them, but sometimes it won’t help if there’s too much difference. You can try boiling water, just use a copper with a hot water and curved the tips, or the opposite - flatten them . Keep in hot water for 30-60 seconds and then apply on the nail. For making curve deeper: use cap from a pen / marker . To flatten : paper clip / tweezers
Nothing to do with the video but I knew that the nail from the thumbnail was from an old video and I just checked and I was right xD it's from a video you did 3 years ago 🤣 you can't tell I keep rewatching your content 🤣🤣
I’ve got the same issue, feels gummy/squashy and if I place it not close to the cuticle, my hairs got stuck underneath the nail when I brush trough my hair with my fingers, so annoying, it feels like it’s lifted 😢
The stickers feel weird on the nail. It is a little squishy and it kind of moves around when you push it a little bit. It may drive you crazy. Just saying. 😊
I also started uxing dip. I do my own now. Im allergic to gel. But i like to do press ons too. I wonder if i can do a layer of dip then do the press ons? I saw someone soak in soapy water with jojoba oil to remove them
There has to be another way to protect the nails without having to use a UV/LED lamp- I cant use either because when I cure my nails, I get a bad burning feeling! I've tried different UV products- gel polish, builder gel and have tried both UV and LED lamps with the corresponding UV or LED products, I follow the directions and timing, but it burns. If anyone knows a better way to protect the nails without needing a UV/LED lamp, I welcome the suggestion. I like press-ons better than other methods because its fast and easy but once removing them, the nails look damaged, I also saw a green growth on one of my nails for the first time and it couldnt be removed, just had to wait for it to grow out.
I did try applying press-ons with acrylic and monomer, which worked well, but I could not handle the horrible monomer smell, so that one is also out of the question for me.
I'm not sure what i'm doing wrong, i do prep the nails like You do and use the sticky tabs and make sure that there's no bubbles but the second day i can feel how the nails move a lot up and down, they don't fall off or anything just moves a lot when i been doing anything and it's unconfortable
That’s bc these only work for ppl that do nothing in their everyday life. The tabs DO NOT hold nails on, no matter the prep. As much as I like Anastasia, this video is not it. Press on nails do not last, idc what anyone says. Save yourself the money and effort and just learn to use a builder gel or another method that involves curing of products. And good luck 😊

Can you use a top coat gel if you don't have a base coat gel or if you ran out of base coat gel? Could a gel base coat from a polygel set work as well?
Thank you I will try this. Since water and soap removed the nails what do you do when showering and washing your hair.
@katieodle7609 thank you for taking the time to answer when the creator did not. I will try your suggestion.
I can never use the tabs, after 1 hour they pop up.
Not even an hour for me and forget about typing
Try applying them at night! That way they have more time to adhere away from moisture
@@alouettekthis is so true but I use gel nail glue I cure under the lamp for 3 mins
I have seen application with sticky tabs and warming with a hairdryer. Have you tried that? Seemed to flatten and seal the sticky tab. 🤔🙂
Yes, That’s a great way for application too! as they will slightly melt and take the shape of the tip
That's an awesome idea, I'll have to try tfs❤
I put mine on using acrylic and they stay on great
I'm allergic to gel nails products, can you recommend steps for this same goal but with a different method than using gel products?
A clear coat nail polish, or one of those strengthening polishes in lieu of gel. Just make sure it's completely dry before gluing the press ons!
I switched to press-ons after having an allergy to gel. The glue tabs don't hold up for me. I use the glue and most of the time they'll last me at least a week to almost two before one pops off. I do find certain glues last longer tho!
I put them on with acrylic.
I really want to do that too! But I’m allergic to HEMA, di-HEMA and MMA, so I don’t know if the acrylic powder itself contains HEMA or it’s just the monomer
I think the best way 2do press on nails is to use builder gel under the press on and cure them but you can't do it with black nails as it wont cure
What kinda sticky tabs last 3 weeks 😮
Thank you this was very informative!
How do you remove the gel safely? Thank you
8:20 shows it. 😊
Thank you for this! Question, I’m a nurse & always washing my hands. This is why I use the glue. Will the sticky tabs still hold up?
If you will also use basecoat underneath, like I showed in the tutorial, they will definitely last longer 👌
@@Nailcou When you take off the press on nails you leave the basecoat on. How will you remove the basecoat? If it's with aceton you still will damage the nail.
Any recommendations on how to keep the semi cured nail strips on??
I developed an allergy to gel products, but acrylic seems to be ok. If we can't use gel, can we use regular polish or a thin layer of acrylic to protect the natural nail?
Yes 👍
Thanks, needed this
Very helpful video thanks so much Anastasia xo 💜💅💜
Glad it was helpful!
Needed it, thank you❤
You’re welcome 😊
Thanks for the info..
is it okay to use nail adhesive instead of nail tabs?
What's nail adhesive? glue?
But how do you deal with the gell that’s on your nail. Whst to you do when doing g a new set? Soak off the gell in acetone? That’s like once a week. Too much chemical.
I cant use agree acrylic, disappointed powder every r anything like that because of allergies. Would u rmal base coat be ok?
Can regular polish replace the base coat?
I have a question
Are there any fake nails for flat nail beds? Thank you!😊
It seems like most press on nails were designed for flat nail beds 😁 if you have some hollow space underneath , try applying a little bit more base coat in the center during the prep 😉
@@Nailcou great! Thank you
Can I use a normal clear top coat of normal.nail polish? Or does it have to be gel? I don't have that
Hi Anastasia!
I can’t even do other people’s nails with gloves on!)
So I also do press on nails now. Can I use regular nail polish instead of gel polish for the preparation part?
Thank you in advance and I just wanted to say that I love your name! It’s so pretty and suits you well ❤️
Yes ! Regular base coat is definitely better than nothing , try 2-3 coats and fully cure before applying sticky tabs 😉
@@Nailcou thank you!!
@@Nailcouwould we still buff a regular base after its fully cured like you did with the gel? Or just leave it and apply glue
@Nailcou if ur seeing this i have an important question.can i use elmers mixed with nail polish?
Can it use also kids?
I have Very thin nails. I would like to be able to grow them out.
If, I don't want to wear nail polish. Can I just use a nail builder or rubber by itself??
Yes
So I'm wondering...because I'm not sure I want to apply gel on my natural nail, would regular polish work instead? I want to protect my natural nail so I use the tabs. Any suggestions ?
Nail polish can work too , apply 2-3 layers and cure each one before applying next one
All press ons I’ve ever gotten don’t match the curvature of my nails so my fingertips will hurt on day 1. Any suggestions?
You can try to adjust them, by filing the cuticle and shaping them, but sometimes it won’t help if there’s too much difference.
You can try boiling water, just use a copper with a hot water and curved the tips, or the opposite - flatten them . Keep in hot water for 30-60 seconds and then apply on the nail. For making curve deeper: use cap from a pen / marker . To flatten : paper clip / tweezers
@@Nailcou Brilliant, thank you!! Will definitely try this next time.
Nothing to do with the video but I knew that the nail from the thumbnail was from an old video and I just checked and I was right xD it's from a video you did 3 years ago 🤣 you can't tell I keep rewatching your content 🤣🤣
Wow , that's so cool you recognized it! 😄
I only used superglue for nails when I was younger
I’ve got the same issue, feels gummy/squashy and if I place it not close to the cuticle, my hairs got stuck underneath the nail when I brush trough my hair with my fingers, so annoying, it feels like it’s lifted 😢
This is all well and good, but I'm moving to press ons to avoid gel. I'd just use gel otherwise...
The stickers feel weird on the nail. It is a little squishy and it kind of moves around when you push it a little bit. It may drive you crazy. Just saying. 😊
Can the basecoat be applied with the glue application too ?
If the tabs dont go side wall to side wall and cuticle to tip how do they not lift?
You didn't put glue on top of the sticky tab. Do you think it's best to add glue onto the sticky tab? I've seen a few people doing that.
I also started uxing dip. I do my own now. Im allergic to gel. But i like to do press ons too. I wonder if i can do a layer of dip then do the press ons? I saw someone soak in soapy water with jojoba oil to remove them
Oooh very nice
Great video ❤
Thank you!!
Hi , if I have reaction to the ultraviolet jell how else can I do? Thank you
Try regular nail polish base coat instead
And how do I fill a dent in the nail like the damaged nail you show?
can you do this same video but you would use the glue
Can i still use the gel base coat with nail glue?
Yes, don’t forget to buff the surface before applying it
I'm not sure what i'm doing wrong, i do prep the nails like You do and use the sticky tabs and make sure that there's no bubbles but the second day i can feel how the nails move a lot up and down, they don't fall off or anything just moves a lot when i been doing anything and it's unconfortable
@@modaciouslav4792 thanks, i guess i just have to learn to use those products
Great video
Thanks!
I been putting my sticky on forward
