Ron screaming "BEANS!" and Mad-Eye saying "there are still several shields to collecT" are things I'll never forget about this game.
Harry yelling YEOWCH when hit by a boulder is the most brilliant sound.

My sad child self, having loved the first three, saving up all my pocket money to buy this one full price - £40 - the day it came out at WHSmith. The utter devastation, the utter bafflement... yes I agree, the refund window should still be open.
I got it first for GBA. I still found the PS2 version to be worse xD
@@ciaranfroud6249 Relatable. Even The Sorcerer’s Stone on GBA beats this. Even a game as old as /that/ for /GBA/ still feels like it has that mysterious Harry Potter magic!! They used to be phenomenal at making Harry Potter games, and it looks like the magic has finally returned with Hogwarts Legacy coming out this year.

It made me so sad and upset as a child. Having played all the gb, ps1, pc and ps2 versions as a kid, I thought GoF would've been like the previous ps2, possibly mixed with stuff from the first ps1 games (to add new type of gameplay), while GoF for pc would've been like its predecessors. The biggest disappointment. What were they thinking?
And the environment is hella pretty.. would have been awesome if you could free roam
I owned this game on both 3DS and PSP and always felt like I had been robbed from a console experience. Now I’m aware I had been spared.
You definetely got the longer end of the stick, the DS/GBA versions are half decent at least.
I played this game a lot with a friend when we were kids, and had a lot of fun, so I actually have some fond memories of this game, but I feel like I might be one of the few. I do recognise now that it’s not a very good game…

The experience I had when I got this game and noticed a transfer from a bright open world HP Hogwarts game in the first three games to a linear 'shoot em up' in the Goblet of Fire is jarring. It was the same experience when I brought 'Spyro: A New Beginning".

Worst Harry Potter game in my opinion, probably one of the worst games I have ever played with how vivid the pain still is years later.
I hated this game so much. An absolute letdown after the amazing Harry Potter 3 game for PS2.
It's definitely the worst of the bunch, especially on PC.

PoA was by far the best. The Sorcerer's Stone game is also pretty bad.
Even the cutscenes are so low-budget. I beat this game back in the day and the not-so-bad part is some bits of the soundtrack by Jeremy Soule. But the game was just done hastily, the point of view is the real pain.
I remember finding you when looking up a video to show my wife why i have old PC harry potter games in storage. Now you're just a true gamer I watch for true bean content.

Because the previous game let you select higher resolutions.
Oh yes, the backtracking is this game is such a big part of the gameplay. That's how they filled the playing time with no new content whatsoever.
This was a low effort console port of a low effort console game, that's why.

To make a long story short, our disappointment was immeasurable and our day was ruined

Even the first few levels were a slog to get through... I've never been so mad at A.I. in my life. I remember Order of The Phoenix being slightly better than this so here's hoping!

Fun fact; some of these levels you have to play multiple times to collect Tri-Wizard shields.

I remember one time I was in the middle of a level of this game with my brother and we had to leave for a family function over the weekend. Instead of turning off the game and losing all our progress we decided to keep my ps2 on until we got back. Probably explains why it ended up with laser issues later, but it still works today :D

The DS version for goblet of fire had some charm and was actually really fun!! I had the gamecube version too but it just didn’t feel the same.
I do appreciate the devs trying to do something outside the box and experiment with the formula a bit.
I also appreciate them recognizing that it didn't work and doing something else in the next game.
I remember renting this and just noping out before the first level was over. I was super disappointed that it wasn't open like the previous games.

When I was a kid I forced everyone to play these games with me lol but like not just once, I forced my uncle to play them over and over and over again with me, I basically never played just gave him the remote every time and watched 😭
YO I was literally wondering just this morning if Micky would ever play this game. Super excited to see it. I remember loving this game as a kid tbh. I also remember being endlessly frustrated with it. Ron constantly yelling “BEANS” in that stupid voice became a joke in my household because I’d play this shit constantly where everyone else in the house could hear it and would be like “what is wrong with him”

I played this back in the day. The triwizard tournament was my favorite. Especially the part where you had to fly away from the dragon.

Watching this video pulled memories from my brain that I'd lost, f*ck me what an abysmal game that was. No exploration of Hogwarts what a joke

You missed the chance for a wide walking meme. Also... you're supposed to press Z to pull all the beans to you in this game, which wasn't a great idea as the mechanic was very underused and just became something else you need to press.
I had every Harry Potter game growing up with the films and was excited for every one. After Prisoner of Azkaban I couldn’t wait to see how amazing the next would be. Prisoner was incredible and took what the first two games were and improved it in every possible way. Improved designs, levels, castle layout, exploring, Harry Ron and Hermione having their own strengths… it was perfect. Then the big wet fart that is Goblet of Fire came out and it was the first time I truly felt disappointment. What a bad game. I even tried to push through and I may have even finished (if I remember it’s criminally short) hoping I’d have fun or see SOMETHING worth my while. ANYTHING that would give me that little bit of serotonin the last games gave in heaps… nothing. The game from start to end is awful. Next game saved the game series. Didn’t play Deathly part 1 or 2 since they were basically third person shooters and had strayed too far from what the games used to be. Half Blood was alright but felt like just a reuse of the amazing castle from Order with worse missions and cringe dialogue/scenes thrown in. Order and Prisoner were the two sweet spots of the series. Both very different but both a joy to play.

I remember getting filtered really hard by pulling that tree as a kid, still not sure what I was doing wrong unless the tooltip just disappeared.
I just know that a few years I eventually got past it and loved the game, though I only got about halfway. The firenewts were the coolest.
I feel this morbid desire for you to Plat this because I unknowingly suffered and beat this entire game back when it came out.

Goblet of Fire and Deathly Hallows are the worst of the series I think but here are some tips to get through this game:
1. Press the Z button to catch beans by casting acccio.
2. Swap characters often so you can distribute beans between them and buy cards for them.
3. Go back and replay levels because new areas will open up where you can collect more challenge shields.
Higher levels don't open up until you have a certain amount of challenge shields.
It's like Mario64 kicking you out of the level when you get a star, you have to go back and get the next one until you've got them all.
4. Focus on perfecting spells to level up. That is what the text at each level completion is indicating.
You perfect a spell by the amount of times you use it in each level.
Each creature has 3 or 4 different spells you can use on them that have different effects to get rid of them.
Focus only on using one spell on all of the same creature on each playthrough of the level to perfect that spell.
For example focus only on the lapifors spell by using the button that turns salamanders into rabbits.
On replaying, focus only on the inflatus spell on salamanders by wetting them and then pressing the button that inflates them.
Focus on avifors on dugbogs by knocking them out so they turn over, then cast wingardium leviosa on them and the other characters will cast avifors.
Use and focus on the Orbis spell which pulls dugbogs into the ground (or drags them into the Shadow Realm).
Don't just press random buttons on each creature. Focus on just one button per playthrough.
Eventually you will perfect a spell and you can focus on perfecting others by changing to one of the other buttons.
The hardest spell to perfect is the ducklifors spell which turns Blast-ended Skrewts into rubber ducks so good luck with that.. or don't bother lol.
Also good luck with Vampyr Mosps, they are an absolute bitch to deal with.
5. Each level has a set of hidden objects you can find and cast at to get challenge shields or rewards. One level has a set of 5 dragon statues, another level has a set of 5 spades, another a set of 5 pipes, etc.
6. Some levels have a set of of mini-shields you can collect to get a Challenge shield. You have to collect 10 mini-shields in the level to get a Challenge shield.
You unlocked a memory for me that I wish you didn’t..oh no why!?
I remember loving this game when k was young because of the upgrades. I just enjoyed buying cards and optimizing my runs of each level.
I played this with my brother on the ps2 when I was very young and I have fond memories of it, wanted to see the botany level again :P

Oh my God as soon as I saw that first actual gameplay I got blasted back to the past. Not from me playing this game. But from playing The Chronicles of Narnia The Lion the witch and the wardrobe game for the gamecube. I s*** you not I think that they were made with the same engine cuz this looks almost exactly like that game did.
I remember playing a ton of the CoS and PoA games and being super excited for another atmospheric, free-roam experience - only to be very, very disappointed

When I was a kid I'd just play the first few levels over and over because I liked the aesthetic of them more, but this was the Harry Potter game I played the least with Prisoner Of Azkaban and Order Of The Phoenix probably being the ones I've played most
I have this game on Xbox Original, but I haven't played it in 12 years. This video made me think about setting up my Xbox again and play through the game.

I remember the pain playing this game.. not bc it was bad or something (I really had fun playing it as a child) but I had no memory card for my Wii so I played this gamecube game without saving.. I never was able to finish it and I was always sad when I needed to stop playing and lose all my progress :,) I had another HP game too but it was mostly a Quidditch game (same problem here too)
Well this explains why I never saw anything about this game during my entire childhood.
Holy hell that's a hudge trip down the memory lane. I had a psp version of this game and playing this was infruiating. At that time I was a little kid who didn't know english all that well so on top of having no idea what the hell is going on i was constantly lost and confused by the layout of the map lol

a tip for anyone who decides to play Goblet of Fire. move the stick left and right to keep your water spell at full power. took me too long to figure it out when I was a kid.
Or in my case, which seemed to work, 360°'ing the left analogue stick over and over. 😂

I played this game a fair bit when I was younger, but not nearly as much as I played Prisoner of Azkaban for PS2. That game was and will remain my favourite HP game. Looking at this video though I'm starting to accept just how bad Goblet of Fire was lol, even though I enjoyed it quite a lot back in the day.
Interestingly enough, I feel like this game and deathly hallows have the best stories to be adapted to games.
I actually sort of think that GoF and the two DH games are still kind of fun. But the open world of 1,2,3,5,6 are just more fun to play.
