They used to be phenomenal at making Harry Potter games, and it looks like the magic has finally returned with Hogwarts Legacy coming out this year.

The experience I had when I got this game and noticed a transfer from a bright open world HP Hogwarts game in the first three games to a linear 'shoot em up' in the Goblet of Fire is jarring. It was the same experience when I brought 'Spyro: A New Beginning".
Such a small moment but using To Zanarkand while suggesting Ron's dad was actually a dream is absolutely top notch editing and contextual commentary, bless ye Micky
going back to old levels and do them over and over again to collect these dumb shields was so annoying. the coop and card system are cool tho, but what a painful game to play. why does this game look worse than the previous one?

Even the cutscenes are so low-budget. I beat this game back in the day and the not-so-bad part is some bits of the soundtrack by Jeremy Soule. But the game was just done hastily, the point of view is the real pain.
Even the first few levels were a slog to get through... I've never been so mad at A.I. in my life. I remember Order of The Phoenix being slightly better than this so here's hoping!

I remember my siblings and I had picked this up as kids excited and expecting similar gameplay to the first 3 games To make a long story short, our disappointment was immeasurable and our day was ruined
I remember renting this and just noping out before the first level was over. I was super disappointed that it wasn't open like the previous games. Also, Moody sounds like Hagrid sometimes?
I remember one time I was in the middle of a level of this game with my brother and we had to leave for a family function over the weekend. Instead of turning off the game and losing all our progress we decided to keep my ps2 on until we got back. Probably explains why it ended up with laser issues later, but it still works today :D
I do appreciate the devs trying to do something outside the box and experiment with the formula a bit. I also appreciate them recognizing that it didn't work and doing something else in the next game.

I remember getting filtered really hard by pulling that tree as a kid, still not sure what I was doing wrong unless the tooltip just disappeared. I just know that a few years I eventually got past it and loved the game, though I only got about halfway. The firenewts were the coolest.
When I was a kid I forced everyone to play these games with me lol but like not just once, I forced my uncle to play them over and over and over again with me, I basically never played just gave him the remote every time and watched 😭
Never touched this heard horrid things about it. The next 2 however I played on Xbox 360 and man I loved them, I wish I still had them. Potions class is my favorite.

Basically all of the Harry Potter movie tie-in games are at least good (the first three are the best of course). This one is the exception.
You missed the chance for a wide walking meme. Also... you're supposed to press Z to pull all the beans to you in this game, which wasn't a great idea as the mechanic was very underused and just became something else you need to press.
a tip for anyone who decides to play Goblet of Fire. move the stick left and right to keep your water spell at full power. took me too long to figure it out when I was a kid.

This was actually my favorite growing up. 2 and 3 got too difficult for me in the late game and this had pretty fun to play multiplayer. I remember I would throw rocks at the other characters and lmao. But I get that people who liked the previous games were disappointed. They definitely had a better atmosphere - this one feels very dated.
Holy hell that's a hudge trip down the memory lane. I had a psp version of this game and playing this was infruiating. At that time I was a little kid who didn't know english all that well so on top of having no idea what the hell is going on i was constantly lost and confused by the layout of the map lol

Because the previous game let you select higher resolutions.
Oh yes, the backtracking is this game is such a big part of the gameplay. That's how they filled the playing time with no new content whatsoever.

The DS version for goblet of fire had some charm and was actually really fun!! I had the gamecube version too but it just didn’t feel the same.

Interestingly enough, I feel like this game and deathly hallows have the best stories to be adapted to games.
I actually sort of think that GoF and the two DH games are still kind of fun. But the open world of 1,2,3,5,6 are just more fun to play.
