This is one of the better reviews posted today on Civic Si. Sarah conveys a sense of honesty in her driving impressions...
It makes me so happy to see that your hard work is paying off and you are being recognized and being invited by these companies to review their cars congratulations well done
099oī
Agreed!
Females. It’s all because of the males views .
Imagine wearing your lab coat by the side of the road with the car hood up. Definitely get some stares.
"If we keep going on that path, we're all going to be driving electric bars of soap." Prophetic.
Probably one of the best reviews I’ve seen.
Lots of testing going on currently for the new generation Type R Civic. If the si is anything to go by, then the Type R should be fantastic.
Hopefully they don't change much in the type r
Let's hear it for lightweight, fun, economical daily drivers. More segments like this please!
I love it when Sarah has a car that you could see her owning to do a review on. Most fun reviews to watch. Go Sarah.
I think "electric bars of soap" perfectly explains a lot of the futuristic electric brick concepts I've seen.
I'm actually more happy about the electric trucks and feature monsters to come like the Ford Lightning which will also function as a whole home battery backup lol. Thats the direction I want electric cars to go. Cool feature stuff with some character to the styling.
and if you drop that "electric bar of soap," is it still "fun?" lol
Problem with the enthusiast market for electric cars right now is that since battery supplies are only growing in line (or slightly slower than) the total demand for EVs, manufacturers are only making high profit margin vehicles like midsize crossovers, ie: a bloated vehicle built on a sedan uni-body, that they can sell for an extra 15,000-20,000 USD compared to a typical combustion-engine sedan. Once the industry reaches a point where batteries aren't a big bottleneck anymore, you'll see a return of these kinds of sporty fastback sedans. But, for the first decade of electrification, all you're going to see is a whooole lot of compact crossovers.
Looks like so much fun. Like the scenery too. I envy you! Well done!
"Taco-meter". Love it!
I just needed to come back and edit my comment and add, you are so correct on the comment in regards to people throwing a fart can muffler and and stance boy wheels on one of those.
Honda's engineers spent time and money putting together an excellent package! Trust them!
I can't wait to see how the GR Carrola compares in this segment.
That will be AWD and waaay more expensive. The Corolla will compete with Golf R, Type R, and STI so a completely different segment. I'm also excited for it though.
@@brianfloster2609 I'd love to see a Corolla TRD or something similar to be an Si competitor
Well the carrola already wins in the looks department lol
I'm waiting for the Corolla GR too my friend
They aren’t in the same segment, the Toyota is like $10k more expensive
Love the review Sarah! I can see how much your enjoyed driving the car, definitely worth checking out at the dealership!
"Electric bars of soap", omg that cracks me up... so glad I was sitting in a supportive chair - I might have hit the flood! Great review - and lovely drive!
This is the review I have been waiting for! I already have a deposit put on one so thank you for showing me how fun of a car it is! Looking forward to seeing your in depth mechanical review!
Are you able to get yours at MSRP?
@@NismoFinder I am!!
You are right about missing the coupe. As soon as a car has four-doors it becomes a family car, no matter how great the mechanicals, looks, and performance. The hatchback is a bit better, but not a coupe. Pity to lose that body style.
Fantastic job! Your reviews just get better and better, keep 'em coming!
Nice review! Nice car!
Always liked the old Civic CRX, even though I never owned one.
200HP out of a 1.5 turbo. That's plenty of power for most people.
And I agree when you say "people who think they know" may ruin a car.
Lots of people who don't understand their car end up ruining it by doing useless mods.
I'd like to see this thing be more powerful, the Type R is over 300HP, you'd think they can bump this up to 230-240HP so it's just under the Accord 2.0 Turbo. The old Civic Si had 200HP 15 years ago. Idk, just my thoughts they probably want to keep it less than the Acura models, my '18 TLX 2.4L has 206HP. I miss the stick shift, that's for sure.
200 is plenty? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
California dreamin' on such a winters day! Fun to zoom about with you and enjoy your review.
“Driving electric bars of soap” 😂🤣 Sarah freaking love your sense of humor. Another phenomenal car review. Thank you
So very true though. We've seen them do stuff like this before.
"Predigested and preconfigured for your individual demographic consumer consumption"
Thus, the AMC Pacer.
And it only comes in puke green.
You are the sole reviewer to peek under the car with camera and assess the exhaust configuration and sound quality. Kudos!
Love your unique style of car reviews. Always a pleasure watching them!!!!
Hondas been nailing the fun to drive, affordable, fwd, daily for nealry 4 decades now. One of my favorites cars ever was my 1993 honda prelude VTEC w/ 190hp weighing in at 2866lbs. This new civic with 200hp and a curb weight of 2950 has very similar specs to the almost 30 year old prelude. Prelude achieved its power without the use of a turbo. Also a 1993 honda prelude has a much more appealing, attractive and unique look compaired to this modern civic, which looks like its built to be a entry level bmw wanna-be.
I also had a 1993 Prelude VTEC and that car sounded so incredible, had awesome handling with amazingly neutral handling, and was great looking
@@jameswillard1 100%
that was an amazing car so hard to find not beaten to death
Totally agree. I bought a new 1993 Prelude and absolutely loved that car. And yes, it was a manual. I still want a naturally aspirated motor but I don't know if I will be able to get one any longer in a fun to drive car that suits me. I currently have been driving a 2006 Mazda 3 sedan, 2.0L, 150 hp, 5 sp manual since I bought it new. It is still a fun to drive car. Since Mazda is one of the few that still offers a non turbo motor and a manual, only in a hatchback though, I may end up buying another Mazda. I would really rather have the Mazda 3 sedan though but it is not offered with a manual.
@@t.k.morris the problem now its so hard to find and if u do they are unbelievably overpriced. everyone must be looking for these cars because all the new cars just have turbo and it’s not the same as Na
Great review Serah
I loved the sound of my 2006 Civic Si which only gave away this year. Such a great car. My first car was also a Civic hatch. Love them. Wish I could like this video 50 times. The best review you’ve done. 🥰
Sarah! You're my favorite auto review artist! Love your work. I kind of want the SI. Your cookie system is basically the gold standard on the interwebs
Great review, thanks for making us aware of what a nicely done economical car that is.
I’m glad you enjoyed the canyons, or at least one of them. We car/bike people know how lucky we are out here. I hope you can make it out here again soon. Lots more roads and even more fans of your channel will be waiting for you.
Your review was spot on👌the car seems perfectly balanced for anything.
Well deserved Sarah your hard work is paying off!! Great job 👏
I have to say....... You kick ass your reviews are the most relatable, entertaining and, comprehensive reviews. You kick all journalist butts including the bog dogs. You rock keep it up 🤘👍
You are totally correct in saying that the video quality does not convey the true smell.
Video so rarely does.
Smellovision?
Nice mid 80’s Civic hatch. Same vintage as my first new car (86 CRX Si). Loved that car. Pretty basic but I wish I still had it. The new Si is actually very well done. Nice review, Sarah!
08:37 "Bigger is not always better" Priceless grin and innuendo. OMG! Your too much, Sarah. You always make my day! BIG HUGE SMILE right now! Awesome review!
Solid review Sarah! I want to drive one now. I'm glad you got to drive on a proper road with the stick shift. BTW, You Rock!
Loved that OG Si hatch. I worked driving parts at the local Honda dealer just out of High School in 1986. I regularly drove both brand new CRX and Civic Hatch Si’s. Preferred the hatch over the CRX. Still quick but less of a “skateboard” in handling. More compliant and controllable. Great Vid as always.
Nice review! Honda fan here. My first car was a ‘90 CRX Si as well. Silver, with striped seats. The Si is a nice blend of performance and practicality.
You never disappoint.... lol.. knowledge, delivery and your looks don’t hurt one bit
Thanks for the video. Looking forward to the next one. You are very entertaining and informative.
Sarah is like a modern day Denise McCluggage, and that's an extreme compliment. This channel is amazing on so many levels :-)
You absolutely crushed this review! The internet is flooded with this review and everyone is giving us the what we need to know facts. However, I genuinely enjoyed the way you laud this out. I literally laughed out loud multiple times and just had fun watching this. Your enthusiasm during the drive made me very excited. I am in the market for a new daily driver and have gone to the dealership and driven a Sport Touring CVT. I have thought about going with a middle ground option of a Sport Touring with a manual. This video really pulled me to rethink giving up a few amenities of the sport touring for the more overall driving fun if the Si. Im still a bit torn but your review has definitely made me stop and think twice that the Si may be the one for me.
You are full of charisma, subscribed!
Great! Now I want a Honda Civic SI Sarah!!!! Your car reviews are 🔥! Thanks for another great one!!!
I am sure I like Sarah more then the car!!!
Hey Sarah, that was really something definitely one of your best so I know why Honda only had orange cars, the stop at Neptunes totally preplanned. Love the extra feedback while driving like I was there have a great one P.S. i’m surprise you didn’t rescue the ant probably off-camera🙂
That blue looks amazing! Great review as always and I appreciate the comment that after driving the car you didn't care about adaptive dampers.
Sarah on a Tuesday is a life line! I’m having a shit day and your beautiful face and wonderful humor have saved me once again. Love you young lady. ❤️🙏☘️
Loved your comments, great video, loved the nails!! "Great car for the buck" - agree!... Didn't care for the pinkish material on the seats..... Miss the coupe also.... Great video! ♥️
If only you could actually get this car around 27k
Many reasons why I love watching this channel but one that stands out the most is the sense of humor when making comparisons.
Sarah throwing Initial D references... 100% caught off guard.
Great video, if I could buy a small weekend car for myself this would be one of my top picks. Just too much traffic in ATL to daily a manual.
that's the only reason I'm glad my fxt is a cvt, still tempted to trade it in & get the new BRZ but damn that atl traffic!
I drive about 100 miles a day in ATL in my 2013 Si sedan. Its a pain occasionally but the enjoyment I get the other 90% of the time is worth it for me. I had the same worry as you about driving manual in heavy traffic before I moved here but its turned out fine. Plus the clutch is comparatively much easier than the one in my dc2 lol
Enjoy your videos besafe out there
Jus found your channel and your sense of humor is perfect
I like car reviews. You do them well.
Well thanks, you made me want this car but I wasn't in the market for one.
I’ve been waiting for this dang embargo for weeks. Your video is the first I’m watching.
Waking up to a Sarah-n-Tuned anything. Priceless!!!
Spot on with the closing line, Sarah! 👍
Sarah, congratulations on being invited out to shoot! Glad you're enjoying the Cali coast and sucking it all in. I will admit that the Honda Civic SI is a great buy and you do get bang for buck, I believed there is a car better. 2022 Kia Forte GT. It also is a great package and bang for buck option in midsized 4 doors. You can get the Kia in either a 6 speed manual or 7 speed DCT transmissions. Would love to see you review a Kia Forte GT. Thanks and enjoy Cali!
I love the looks of the 11th, but sad it doesnt have the magnetic shocks, fog lights, heated seats, and dual climate zone of my 10th gen SI. Definitely waiting on the 11th CTR!
Yeah, it's weird. I feel a lot of people were upset on paper seeing it lacked the 10th gen suspension, but I legit did not care after driving it. I'd throw a set of Ohlins on if I really wanted to dial it in.
"Less is more." Might have been a parts shortage issue as well.
I used to ride my bicycle on those roads 20-40 years ago. The roads haven't changed, except they're more crowded now. Glad you could enjoy the scenery!
Congrats Sarah in receiving the corporate recognition. Your assessments are always spot on, coupled with your sense for eye grabbing fashion!
I’ll stop there before this starts sounding creepy. Great job!
At 4:39 I'm also going to Disable Traction Control "Because I Like To Party" 👍
Hey Sarah!! My VW GLI lease is up soon and I'm thinking SI. This review was very helpful. Thanks! Oh and thanks for including l/100kms too for us Canadian folk. Great job!! Oh and congrats on the Bronco. That's an option too but I think this is a better value. What say you?
Going to be a downgrade.
@@donovanowens8owens may I ask if you can explain? I am having trouble deciding on an SI or the GLI.
@@jasonk7411 driving dynamics are much better on the si however the gli makes more power and can be tuned for bigger gains. Drive both and decide.
Not a down grade, the honda will be kicking around when the German money pit is killing your bank account.
Great review. My first car was a ‘91 DX hatch with 5 speed manual. Loved loved loved that car.
Awesome video Sarah! Cant wait to see the civic hatchback
Sarah, thank you for this review! I was thinking of buying a used Pony car for a toy, but this Si has piqued my interest.
"Make your electric Civic SI a 6 speed." That may be the best advice one can give Honda. With all that low end torque provided by electric motors it would be a blast to drive. Great review.
Yes the have had hybrid with 6 speed so it should not be too difficult even with a digital clutch.
1:05 your Tifa Lockhart Final Fantasy 7 Advent Children outfit is amazing
Love the background music. Classy!
That car sounded great in the video and looked like a blast to drive! Thanks, Sarah, for a great start to this Tuesday.
And the 2021 award for the most gorgeous girl on You Tube goes to.....Sarah Greenwood 👑
What a refreshing car review, very in depth.
so happy to see a visitor see California and enjoying it . cali sun looks great on you !
9:29 I was not expecting that fully stock setup to pop on that shift haha Probably was an aggressive 1-2 shift in sport mode
0:27 your Style is Really…. Grr
I was waiting for this! Thank you Sarah.
I had a 1990 CRX SI. It was a great little car. After the B16 swap, it really surprised people. Great review!
I’m totally with you on the discontinuation of the 3-door hatchback Si models.
I will not watch any other SI video. You shall suffice!
Great Review!
Awesome review through the twisties of rugged SoCal! The impromptu road science shows that you can make a professional nerd out session anywhere. And look amazing and composed while cars and bikes fly by. I was waiting for a digital bee to emerge from the honeycomb dash. I wonder if the old SI will start with the flower plugging the exhaust pipe? Fun stuff, Sarah!
Mugen had a twin loop exhaust at one time. I wonder if they might've had a hand in that design. Also, that honeycomb dash looks like a homage to the first-gen Civic grill. Could it be? Looks like a solid daily driver.
My next car is going to be a bar of soap. The benefit is I don't have to keep repairing my ICE
Just wait until your soap malfunctions.
@@pmscalisi Well so far my ICE has worn out springs and dampers, brake disks and pads. Injectors and an ECU. the front seats needed re upholstering. replaced the HIDs and re surfaced the indicator bulbs because of spark pitting. Loads of oil and filter replacements and still one of the rear electric windows has failed. So for me Soap seems to be easier to deal with like with any torch if the battery fails it's time to get it fixed. So warranty is key to soap ownership.
@@tomquimby8669 so basically dump the soap before warranty runs out.
Unfortunately, most of the problematic items you mentioned will still be part of EVs. Unless they are unsprung, seat less, and unilluminated. Still a bunch of maintainence items despite the lack of engine and transmission.
@@JayLepisto I forgot to mention the fuel pump failure, took me a week to figure out what the problem was. What seems to be the most problems with bars of soap is the brakes seizing because of lack of use. The slippery bars of soap seem to have a problem with their disk pads separating from the back plates.
Best Si review I’ve seen yet.
You rock! Great review!
I’m glad that you review cars for the plebs and not hyper cars like some channels do. This car looks and sounds like a blast to drive.
Greetings from Scotland 🏴🥃🥃🇺🇸
I love the Matt Farah Smoking Tire style driving footage. Great review.. That Si looks like fun!
Love my 2020 10th gen manual Si coupe. "Electric bars of soap" made me literally LOL. Nice job, Sarah.
I have had three Civics. 83' Civic hatch, 89' CRX-Si and a 94' Civic DX. Drove them all like I stole them and had few problems. Was ready to buy a 02' Civic Si but the dealer only had one and would not let me test drive it. Went to a Subaru dealer and test drove a WRX and that started my love for AWD. The last couple of generations of the Civic have been really unattractive to me especially in the rear. This model year Civic Si may be the one to get me back in a Honda.
For a budget car, I have always considered the 10th gen Honda Civic Si over the Ford Focus ST. It's just that the clutch is probably the weakest hit and miss spot for the platform. Even the facelift model of the 10th gen Civic Si had the same defective clutch issues. Obviously, upgrading the clutch to an aftermarket one and flywheel will probably work, but who plans to do that under full warranty, especially if you've still got full coverage factory warranty??
@@isnowyazn ive had a 2015 Si since new, never had a single clutch issue. test drove both GTI and WRX prior to buying. Honda clutch is fantastic
Damn, Sarah. I’m getting spoiled with the frequency and awesomeness of content. I’m a boomer who is still enthusiastic enough to be tempted to buy one of these. I’m also an occasional detailer who loves the appearance of that honeycombed dash… but I cringe about having to keep it looking perfect! Thank you! 👍👍👍
The Bronco video didn’t make sense to sit on for a week, plus it was fast to film.
To give you an idea of how far your channel as reached around the world ... great review to watch from here in Perth Western Australia currently 2300 Tuesday night lol
Even without the mechanics corner, damn fine review............
Looked like you were having fun.
You are becoming a significant person in the car review world. And you deserve it. Still prefer my 12 year old 4007 Peugeot on comfort.
I’ve been on some of those beautiful Cali roads and it’s hard to enjoy the scenery when your driving. But it’s like your in your own movie cruising them.
Nice review💪
I had to subscribe to you , first time I see your channel. And I like how you did that review like it is your own personal car .
