My father has lived in Mexico for more than 40 years and has never had insurance in Mexico and he's now 83. He is a disabled veteran so he goes to the VA for some things but it's usually the required visits. My mother in law got her cataract surgery in Ensenada and I think it was less than 1000.00. But I'll verify that. However, I know a lot of people that US insurance that still come to Mexico for everything except emergencies. Paying cash in Mexico is usually less than the co-pay in the USA
Great video..Quick question, once you submit your receipts to the insurance company, have you had any issues collecting the money from them, and how long does it usually take before you get the money back? Also, would you mind sharing what Insurance company you are using. Thanks..
@@bobwalk1618 Hi there. Oh, good. I hope it was helpful. Our plan is with Vumi www.vumimexico.com/. They are a global company. We just submitted receipts for his surgery - they want all documentation including original diagnosis and other paperwork. So I can’t comment on speed of payment, although they have been pretty communicative. Hope this helps.
Thank you for the video

Thanks so much for your comment and sharing your experience. I've had friends up north travel down here for medical care as well. Thanks again.
