Fixing code P0456 in a Dodge Dakota 3rd gen (2005-2011) and replacing a leak pump valve.

  • Alright guys if your Dodge Dakota is giving you a check engine light trouble code of P0456 this might be your fix by replaceing the Leak Detection Pump.

    I believe the charcoal canister can be accessed by removing the driver's rear wheel and wheel well liner. It makes this job way easier.

    My 02 4.7 is throwing a p0456 and i got a tiny crack in the little line coming off the evap canister so gotta get some line for that but currently about to try and get to the purge valve to see whats up with it also

    I believe the access point to replace the vacuum pump detector is to remove the rear driver side wheel and remove the inside wheel panel in front of the wheel. You don’t need a GoPro camera and don’t need another second elbow to contort your arm around the chassis frame.

      I’ll try that, not sure if that will work sense I have the quad cab and not the extended cab but thanks for the info anything helps

    I replaced it. Where does the gasket o-ring go? Would not twist and turn

      It should fit at the base of the outside opening if it’s a new gasket might be stiff you have to push in and twist dont over push you might break something hope this helps
