Got mine for my ram hauler after watching your review, love it, mounted it the same way, but it does move side to side slightly at the suction cup during sharp turns, have you had this problem yet?
Nice rig. I'm a ford guy. They all have their plusses and minises. If you're not going to use the back seats for passengers, take them out and take the plastic trim off the floor. Then put in a plywood floor. You'll have a ton more room for storage boxes, a creeper rack ECT for those thing that need to be warm and dry.
I run ram 5500 crane trucks for commercial food service work.. I love them I'm an inline motor guy all day only reason I run rams..cummins or nothing for me.. I've got several mechanical 3500 12 valve service trucks still too but not crane bodies they're my favs but getting hard to get parts to keep running them everyday We do Commercial hvac, refrigeration, food machines, cooking equipment, ventilation, stainless work and pretty much anything restaurant related But i grew up farming milo, cotton and corn The thing that struck me so different about how our trucks are set up vs your heavy equipment service or mechanic work set up is the lack of parts I totally get why of course my trucks are full of tools but have a ton of parts also onboard to limit the downtime and back and forth I never really thought about that before
You’re gonna love it, I started in a F350 then moved into an F550 and all the extra room is great plus the crane makes easy work of everything I use it for. Enjoy the sweet ride man!
I'm watching you from Russia. I work for myself. I repair John Deere equipment. A very cool truck, and I went to repair it on lada granta)). I have a full trunk and I have to constantly pull everything out, and then put everything together like in the tetris game.
I would add a small welder behind the air compressor and then you can take the generator out. Looking great, congratulations, a new truck is just like a raise.
I really enjoy how the foams turned out! I will have to try that when I setup my personal farm service truck. An '01 V10 Ram 3500 with a 9' Stahl bed with only 41k miles purchase on Wisco Surplus from a parks department.
I have 2018 Ram 550. I am in northern California, with real mountains. This is the first auto shift trans I have owned, that coupled with the engine brake is beautiful for down hill control. The Cummins great for being able to pass on a river canyon road. I installed "Super Spring" "Sumo" anti sway cushions on drive axle, greatly improves cornering on windy roads. I removed the third seat and built a wood storage box and catch all tray {see Bill Covert service Truck tour]. I stick with two door cabs opting for bed length. Just personal, but my mind goes to removal of the useless rear seat and build some custom shelving and indoor storage. I saw something amazing yesterday at logging conference Anderson Calif., that John Deere has a 20 liter, 800 hp engine that does not need aftertreatment, just hang a exhaust pipe and ready to go. Amazing.
I’m an electrical contractor in Texas. We’ve used Ford Superdutys since 1999. Powerstrokes. I bought my last new one in 2019. I’ve debated buying a new one but the prices now for a F350 XL is more than I paid for a loaded up Lariat back in 2019. I’ve shopped for a comparable Ram as well and I’m gettin too close to retirement to justify buying a new one. They’re both excellent trucks in the diesel service truck market. Congrats on your new ride. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I don’t think anyone makes a good truck anymore compared to older ones….sooooo…my answer is the 70’s made the best trucks! Congrats and thanks for sharing. Really enjoy your channel.
I tried keeping a generator like yours but then switched over to a 5000w inverter in the truck, way better and easier than keeping gas. Just wire into switched B+ so it turns off with the truck. Nothing worse than trying to jump on off because you left the inverter on.
Im biased because I work for Cummins but the VGT exhaust brake and the simplicity of the Cummins is a no brainer for me. They are so easy to work on being an inline 6.
Congratulations on your new ride. I am a Cummins fan. It will treat you well. The wiring harness should go to connectors under the hood on the left side hood hinge area. They work with your switches on your dash for accessories to operate on the outside like led beacons or auxiliary work lights for example. Good luck.
The only bad thing about anew truck is getting it dialed in. I enjoy it but It always takes me about a year, maybe im just slow! Beautiful truck, have fun with the setup. I have a Maintainer body on a 2011 F550 now and love it, would like to check their aluminum body out next time. Thanks for a good video.
Congratulations on the new truck and crane! Needs a drawer unit on the pass side for the milwaukee tools, carrying allot of "air" in that cabinet. Another shelf for the narrow compartment on the pass side.. Put the oxy/acetyl tanks into the bed and gain that compartment space back. Plenty of room on top of the drivers side compartments for steel or diamond plate storage boxes that can be accessed from the bed. Pull the rear seat out if you need the cab space. Rear window gun rack for long tools. Bed should be wide enough for some semi-permanent cabinets or toolboxes with an aisle to access. Generator could even go above the pass side compartments in front of the crane rest point. We'll look forward to the second showing of the Dodge FAV after the spring refinements!
Also, get a pair of alum or steel or poly plates as outrigger bases. Those small ones will divot blacktop and easily sink into soil. Need to spread the load.
We also got the 2023 Ram 5500, with an 11' Harbor service body bed, no crane since we do plumbing, we had a welder do a giant 25' pipe rack and a front bumper which was a pain to find, ended going with fab fours as i had used them in the past. Love the truck just wasn't used to it running on higher rpm's
The 550 trucks are nice. My first truck was a f550 with an autocrane bed and crane and i loved it but now my boss moved me up to a 650 with an imt setup. I like the bigger truck but i hate how it rides lol. Thats the biggest thing that i miss with the 550. That and 4wd
Congratulations on new service truck you will probably rearrange it several times before you get it where you want lol! One thing I wish I have is an enclosed bed with retractable top keeping things out to the weather especially in the north east here . One thing I think I’m going to invest in is a knack jobsite box for the bed to store the lose items in and keep out of the weather and secure! Thanks for sharing 👍
I would say Chevy is the best one Chevrolet has the best transmission, but the Dodge Cummins is a good engine. You master the power between a Cummins engine and a Chevrolet Allison transmission. You have yourself a hell of a truck.
Be careful/weary of the crane box. It will be the first box to get water in it. Hole in the base of the crane and another big one just under the shelf where the hoses pass through where the outrigger hoses pass through. Wheel throws water in there. That box is good for your rigging and other stuff that can get wet.
I had a 95 F-SuperDuty rated like the 550 with the first year 7.3l Powerstroke. Best truck. Going modern - the new Dodge/Ram ZK truck is the way to go.
That is a very nice and well-equipped truck for your needs. I am a Chevy/GMC/International guy, but that Ram is certainly up to the task. I wouold recommend a welder for your collection, and that should fill up your space quite nicely. Many of those tools are seldom used, but when you need them, you can get the job done.
I have seen many service trucks- Not a Ford fan but the F550s seem best... I really love Stellar/Knapheide with the 7621 or 7630 Crane. For our terrain the heavier Kenworths struggle with getting stuck.
For your truck I'd check into a service bed cover, I've seen several on the trucks in my company and from what I've heard it helps keep some things dry and protected I would also recommend with the bummer compartments make sure any holes are sealed, I learned that the hard way some of my tools got a little rust
Congrats Buddy I have been with Deere 24 plus years, have an F750 with the Knapheid bed and 10,000 pound crane, you will enjoy your new truck you got it rigged very nicely
The best truck is the one that makes the man the most money and has the least breakdowns. It's hit or miss with the Big 3. Quality is not linear there anymore. Could get a diamond or a lemon at either, and the only thing separating them is a serial number and date of manufacture.
I would get one of those toolbox’s that go in the floor of the bed with the big drawer that pulls out. Could put a ton of parts in it or more Milwaukee tools.
Congratulations. I love my Stellar TMax 2-11 service body mounted on a Peterbilt 337 with a 12K crane. Stellar offers bolt on boxes that mount on top of the body in the T track rails that match the service body for more storage. They also have a bolt bin that fits nicely in the first cabinet next to the tool box. A little advice always use those out riggers and the door cabinet handles will fold down in the open position so they dont knock into the other doors and you can still close the doors with out having to turn the handles. You will love having that crane dont know how you did before without it.
I drive an ‘18 Ford 550 with a knapheide fully enclosed bed with 3200lbs crane, not the most reliable truck, but no modern truck is anymore. My very first service truck was a 2009 Chevy 3500 with a tool bed, I was the third or fourth user, it had 280k miles and was fully deleted and ran like a raped ape, company sold it when it hit 350k miles. You have an awesome truck though.
Thanks for another great video ZK. Most interesting video. Congratulations on your new truck. You are most deserving. Beauty of a truck and work bed. Nice ZK. You asked about brands. My opinion is Dodge Ram first and second would be Ford. Just my opinion is all. Switching from one truck to another is a really BIG job. Not an easy one to do. You have all your special tools to fit into the new truck. Not so easy. Will take time but you will get it done knowing you. Love all the options you have. The crane will be so nice. Enjoy the new truck. You are most definitely deserving. Thanks ZK for showing us the new truck. The Iowa farm boy. Steve. 😊👋👍🇺🇸
Mount your generator up top. And run a remote cable/ignition inside one of your compartments. The ignition and start key is remote mounted inside one of my compartments in my service truck
Hi love your channel with the generator go to your local fabrication business and get a box made to mount it on top of the box under the crane boom. Have a door on the front with gas struts to gain access.
Great Video....Fantastic New Service Truck....Don't get stressed out too much with getting everything organized exactly how you want it...Just give yourself a month or two to get everything completely finished...Chances are you will be changing things up since you are always adding new tools and things to your collection... So which Tech in your shop became the New Owner of your old service truck...Bet they are pretty happy now... Take care and like always... Keep The Green Iron Moving...
Excellent truck. 20-year 2500 Cummings manual 6 speed myself. You're going to need double layered plywood pads for the outriggers in the fields. Maybe tripped layers.
To bad they did not put slide steps under the box, works for steps and a place set things while working. Need to see how much it would cost to go to super single tires, duallies tend to get stuff stuck between tires off road. I would fin one of the chargeble portable fridges and take out the back seat and also put in a micromave, sure nice to have a snack option on the long days. A front brush guard would make the truck nicer looking and can also be used for a winch.
I just purchased a Chevrolet 2500 Crew Cab with a Knapheide 8 foot service body. It's a pain in the butt to switch everything over. You have about 10 times more than I did to transfer.
I like the 5500’s. The fuel filter on the side of the block is a pain sometimes if you don’t use a OEM or fleet guard. I also put front mud guards/flaps on for the steers because they can fling mud everywhere and put rock chips in the front of the service body
@@ZKMasterTech I’m not sure if there are any commercial options, we fabbed our own out of chrome plate and some extra strips of thinner ply conveyor belting.
I had that exact step on the back bumper of my F550 with a stellar body, a little advise always tuck the step back in when you drive away….I broke mine a couple times from leaving it out
The one thing I can think of is to add, LED Light strips in the cabinets, with magnetic switches to come on when open. and give you a great deal of light when looking for tools.
Good place for the generator would be to but it on top beside the air compressor, if you don’t use it very often can get a tool box that’s water proof and put it in their up top
I’ve had a stellar tmax 3 body on a kw T270 for six years working on construction equipment. That crane will be your third hand. Any service truck is worth its weight in gold. I currently weigh in at 24000 lbs. I’m curious you should weigh in… bet you’d be surprised, may be overweight. But nevertheless sweet ride!!
Hi Zeth...boy and I thought moving home was tough. Great truck, and you deserve it. However, if I were you, I tear the rear seats and give myself a whole world of extra storage room for ones tools, especially the Milwaukee boxes. I mean, how often are you likely to be putting humans behind ya when out and about on jobs! Like so many things considered improvements in todays world, so many fall down on the small common sense touches. Yup, I think it's called... form over function. Luv ya guys KTGIM. J, U.K
You can fit a lot more in it that way but I cannot do it myself I have to have locations for every ratchet and extension so I can easily identify if I’m missing something … idk how you manage it but def get a lot more per drawer
Add mud flaps on the front or running boards or both. That throws a lot of crap back at the box, and it will be full of paint chips in no time. All manufactures have service departments. I don't like the chevys, they have less room inside than the fords do. Also their hoods are just too high. One of our ambulances is a Ford F450. They had to replace the engine under warranty, low compression in 2 cylinders. We have also had Dodges before and they were just dogs, no power and slow. We have a Chevy HD van type ambo, and while the leg room is not the best while driving, it is fast and gets great fuel milage. No matter what truck someone gave me to drive I would be fine with that. They must really like you! Congratulations!
If you make a wooden divider box you can set your Milwaukee tools straight up and save a bunch of room and easy to grab. Btw I have seen somewhere magnetic boots for Milwaukee batteries like Snap-on has. You got a nice truck to work out of now congratulations
You sure opened a can of worms with your question. My hunting buddy has a one ton 2019 truck with the Cummins engine. He tows a big 5th wheel all over North America. I personally have a 3/4 ton 2008 Duramax. (It is used to pull a 5th wheel. The truck has very few kilometres on it.) Enjoy your truck.
Lol just did warrenty work on that exact truck, transmission had a snapring come out a messed up the clutch drum and seals 7k km on the trans cool truck dude hope it treats you well man
Hi Zeth! Awesome new service rig, you deserve it! I've been a Ford truck guy my whole life and the company I work for has an all Ford fleet as well. My experiences with Ram trucks didn't go well at my previous employer, too many electrical and transmission issues, they eventually stopped purchasing Ram trucks and switched to Chevrolet-GMC. They had some of the early Duramax engines (2001-2002) which had head gasket and fuel injector issues but by the mid 2000's they were really well sorted out. Other than the DOD-AFM debacle they had in the late 2000’s-early 2010s they were pretty reliable. The Fords where I work now have been mostly reliable. We’ve had a few minor transmission niggles with the 10-speeds but nothing severe. We have several F150s with the 3.5L ecoboost V6 engines which are absolute rocket ships and will pull like a mule all day long. I know they get a lot of flack for being turboed but knock on wood, we’ve never replaced a turbo in all the years we’ve had them. The 6.7 power stroke engines have been solid in our super duties as well. It comes down anymore to who has the truck with the required specs available when needed for the best price. I assume Sloan Imp purchased the truck without consulting you about your brand preference? At any rate, thanks for the tour, I know you’ll get lots of use out of it and hopefully many satisfied customers as well! 😉
I tried to get a Ford first but could not get one that wasn't sold already. I picked out this ram. There's really not a lot of service trucks optioned out like this one within driving distance.
Nice looking rig. It takes forever to get everything switched over and organized the way you want it. Still working on mine it's been almost a year. Maybe mount the generator on top of the bed rail next to the compressor?
Great video. I'm a bit late to the party here, but I can think of 2 upgrades you probably should consider. First is picking up some ground mats for under the outriggers (to spread the load out), along with a couple more heavy blocks that can support things if you need to do crane work on unlevel ground. Second, I've seen some pretty nice crane boom tip light accessories on service trucks. These can help in lighting what you are lifting, or just for providing area light from a higher angle when working in a dim area. Enjoy your new truck!
Working on a 96 Chevy C3500HD which would be an equivalent 15k truck. We are mid project. It is a stretched frame crew cab swap. Cummins 12 valve with P Pump (cable shut off) NV4500 5 speed with 241DHD transfer case. These were never 4wd so we are solid front axle swapping with a 2002 Ford Dana 60. She’s got 19.5 load range H tires. There is no computer, can roll down a hill to start so is the ultimate zombie apocalypse service truck. Hope to finish by planting!
Really a Nice truck! Glad you showed just how much work it was to move everything!! Like a couple others, I do like the Fords more, but Dodge does make a nice truck. With a truck like that, Sloan will want you to do more out in the field!! :) Now all you need is a Miller or Lincoln welder!! Stay safe out there!!
Maybe get some of those aluminum Tarp boxs u see on flatbed trailers , place on top driver side tool box doors open to bed. Then not sure if maybe get one on passenger side small one for stuff . Nice truck and set up
Great Video, RAM on the best truck, Generator in the back of the cab on your wooden stand. I am sure I'm not the first to comment on your "Kid in the candy store" look Thanks for the very calm demeanor you always project. Even in this video could see the repressed "Rocky victory dance" ALways enjoy your videos.
To buy the Carpuride W903 go to bit.ly/3EONcXa and use coupon code "ZKMT" to get $50 off your purchase!
Definitely going to order one after watching your vid! For my KUV service truck
Got mine for my ram hauler after watching your review, love it, mounted it the same way, but it does move side to side slightly at the suction cup during sharp turns, have you had this problem yet?

I totally get why of course
my trucks are full of tools but have a ton of parts also onboard to limit the downtime and back and forth
I never really thought about that before
RAM has come a long way, it would be my choice 👍👍
I’m never gonna complain about switching all my stuff over to a new truck again, i just drive truck and thought I had alot of stuff. Cool video.
I actually enjoy the process.
@@ZKMasterTech yea that’s definitely gotta be a good feeling getting it all organized.
No matter how big of a service truck you have, it never has too much storage space.
I've been a Custom Applicator for 26 years. Just started as a sprayer tech at my local dealer. Thank you for the vids!
You’re gonna love it, I started in a F350 then moved into an F550 and all the extra room is great plus the crane makes easy work of everything I use it for. Enjoy the sweet ride man!

Yeah I had the last truck 4 years and I was still making improvements days before I got a new truck.
I should add, your virtually about there anyway with the make shift storage in the rear of the cab you had to codge up.
Nothing but the best for the ZK Master Tech !!!

LOL.... Somebody doesn't know who TF Allison is.
I’ve switched service trucks twice I understand the time and frustration involved in doing this. It’s an ever changing endeavor for sure.
We put 2 weather guard boxes behind the air compressor then two small boxes under the crane. Also put a job box in the front of the body
Congrats on the new truck Zeth! What a job that was! Keep that green iron turning!😀👍
Nice work Zeth I would put a 3500 watt inverter into the system and get rid of the generator no gas or maintenance to mess with just an idea
This is what some of our service trucks have. I think that’s the way to go.
Nice truck Zeth....i wish you the very best of good luck and good health to enjoy it....Thank you for sharing the tool swap with us...cheers
Congrats man, you definitely deserve that rig!
Thanks!

I'd bet the Snap-on man gets really excited when you get a new, larger service truck.
He probably ordered a new boat.
I don't need anything from him anymore.
No just 3-$45,000 engines for the boat 🛥️ oh hell yes gotta re-power that boat every so often just show off

awesome , a truck like this is a dream
Just got my new one yesterday same bed and crane. F600 Chassis. Like your truck and videos
Nice 👍
Good for you ,you make good use of all the storage. May God bless
I can turn on my compressor with my remote linked same crane. Just hit the down arrow on the remote it brings you to a different menu
Ford F600 KMT1 Knaphide bed. Yours is a sweet ride, congrats

If you haven't thought of it yet. "Tiger tough" seat covers front and rear. Worth every penny.

I wish stellar would show those boxes on their website.
Got to see a truck outfitted with one at ConExpo at the Stellar both in 2023 believe they are a newer offering
Congrats Zeth, on the new rig buddy. Looks great bigger truck more tools more opportunities that crane will definitely be a game changer for you.
For sure
A front brush guard would make the truck nicer looking and can also be used for a winch.
for the generator maybe a metal box that sits up off the floor of the bed so you can put stuff underneath it and mount it to one of the side boxes?
I just purchased a Chevrolet 2500 Crew Cab with a Knapheide 8 foot service body. It's a pain in the butt to switch everything over. You have about 10 times more than I did to transfer.
I like the 5500’s. The fuel filter on the side of the block is a pain sometimes if you don’t use a OEM or fleet guard. I also put front mud guards/flaps on for the steers because they can fling mud everywhere and put rock chips in the front of the service body
Where do you get mud flaps for these large fender flares?
@@ZKMasterTech I’m not sure if there are any commercial options, we fabbed our own out of chrome plate and some extra strips of thinner ply conveyor belting.
I had that exact step on the back bumper of my F550 with a stellar body, a little advise always tuck the step back in when you drive away….I broke mine a couple times from leaving it out
Nice new ride Zeth! Great video!
The one thing I can think of is to add, LED Light strips in the cabinets, with magnetic switches to come on when open. and give you a great deal of light when looking for tools.
Did you not see the lights?
I did after i left the comment, I guess they thought of just about everything. looks really fantastic.

Congrats on moving up to a big boy truck. I have been in my kw for 10 years and still not fully organized Can’t believe you did it off the clock.
Good place for the generator would be to but it on top beside the air compressor, if you don’t use it very often can get a tool box that’s water proof and put it in their up top
That is a fantastic truck young man!
Brilliant.. That system would be great in my Izusu Dmax 👌
I would mount the generator up on top at the end of the by the backstep.either side
Stabilizers ALWAYS go first BEFORE using crane!
Great awesome video zeth. Beautiful truck , they all have there good points and bad .
Gratulation zum neuen Servicewagen ( Ford ist mein Favorit ) 🇨🇭😇
Pertaining to the cargo compartment put everything on a pallet and use the crane to pull everything off at once to get to access your many boxes.
That crane is a beauty.
Congratulations!
man, thast truck is my dream.....
Can’t wait to come raid your tool tank lol! That truck is a game changer!
Nice looking rig. It takes forever to get everything switched over and organized the way you want it. Still working on mine it's been almost a year. Maybe mount the generator on top of the bed rail next to the compressor?
Thanks 👍
Great video. I'm a bit late to the party here, but I can think of 2 upgrades you probably should consider. First is picking up some ground mats for under the outriggers (to spread the load out), along with a couple more heavy blocks that can support things if you need to do crane work on unlevel ground. Second, I've seen some pretty nice crane boom tip light accessories on service trucks. These can help in lighting what you are lifting, or just for providing area light from a higher angle when working in a dim area. Enjoy your new truck!
Hi Zeth they make a generator welder air compressor combo.
Lincoln combo unit.
Thanks 👍
What a BEAST! Congrats. I’d love to see the undercarriage with the PTO, etc
FORD; without a doubt !!!!!
Maybe get some of those aluminum Tarp boxs u see on flatbed trailers , place on top driver side tool box doors open to bed. Then not sure if maybe get one on passenger side small one for stuff .
Nice truck and set up
Great set up Zeth thanks for sharing 🦘
Congratulations my friend on your new service truck
Thanks 👍
Nice truck,!! Back in my day I sure would have loved that crane.
Congrats on the new truck, you’ll never want one without a crane again.
