Awesome! I am left handed and struggle with the over the top move and raising the club in an effort to get more power. Yesterday, before I saw this video I started watching the club head during the backswing and immediately flushed the ball and noticed that I just rotated back with my entire body. When I attempted to pick up the ball in the forward swing I started having mishits.
As soon as you pull or try to swing harder, the cushion gets past the grip with the pro. Lose all lag. Only way to keep lag is to only turn with spine/body.
Love the lesson, but how does a golfer introduce increased clubhead speed into the swing? I cannot afford to fly out to California to see you for a lesson. 😢
Thanks for the note! Clubhead speed ultimately comes from removing all restriction in your motion and how comfortable you are to truly letting go. It's instinctive, not a thought. In Bruce's case in this video, if he goes faster he just adds muscle and the over the top comes back. You have to develop a truly efficient and self-balancing motion to acquire any significant clubhead speed. Also, get my training product, the PRO, and work through my training system on the My True Swing App. As you develop your technique with the PRO you will learn how to move naturally which will ultimate - with some persistent practice - lead to developing an unrestricted and efficient motion! And finally, you can always reach out to me for an online lesson! dan@danmartingolf.com Thx!
If you remove restrictions in the swing, will your wrist automatically cock and release at top of the backswing? It seems if i let my wrist cock and release in the back swing I get much more distance and better ground consistency. If so and posible, how do I use my pro to practice this wrist maneuver? @@danmartingolf
Dave! Long time no talk! The act of getting the PRO in alignment during transition is an expression of natural wrist motion. If it forms an angle, then you aren't allowing the natural motion to work for you. If you can keep PRO in straight line like I do, then you've got it! Basically, if you have mastery over swinging the PRO, you've got it!
Thanks Dan I'm out here in the the ethernet matrix searching for the ah ha golf recipe. In my journey, I always come back to your science approach to get me back on track. :> I suppose you are saying one's wrist will cock and uncock naturally by themself? No intent to do so is necessary if you remove all forced restrictions?@@danmartingolf
Yes sir! You need to learn to allow the folding and unfolding of the golf club to happen relative to your total motion - it's not an isolated muscular event. Thanks!
“Most of us are playing way too far ahead of the swing.” A golden Dan Martin quote. Thanks for reminding me. Great lesson.
This has helped me so much with the backswing and initial transition to impact. So $$$$$$$!!!!!!

So long swing to short (er) swing works great. Will same process work for Short too long (er) swing?
Could you elaborate on your question a little more? Thanks!
