The door handles don't just break...you aren't supposed to pull the door open immediately while you are unlocking the door you are supposed to unlock then pull the door handles. If you let your friends just pull on the door exactly while you are unlocking it that is what makes the handle break
Thanks for the video. You gave some good tips :) I own a 2003 350Z with the VQ35DE engine. Like you said: Had to replace the hatch struts and the window motors. Just as another tip: i've heard you need to replace the spark plugs every 20'000-30'000 km... because the last plugs get to hot and wear off fast... And.. always check oil... Z Engines love oil... 😅....
One important item is window motors! They tend to fall out of memory and forget where the top of the door actually is lol. You may just be able to recalibrate it but some motors lose memory when they’re going bad
@@RynoDinero mine's on the way out lol, just buy it from a junk yard, its cheaper and they are good transmissions so I doubt it'll be cluttered with issues
2004 350z 55k miles and 2 weeks ago I replaced the water pump and thermostat. Going to go full upgraded mishimoto fans and radiator soon. 1 week ago I changed the passenger side window motor. I have an extra driver side motor in my garage. $80 for both motors. About $160 for water pump antifreeze and thermostat.
Radiator/cooling fans go out commonly in all the 350z models if I’m correct. I drive an HR with 77k miles and I already had to replace it, it’s not that expensive and it’s fairly easy to do by yourself but it’s something to keep in mind
Early 350z's came with an interior cup holder, passenger side dash. I can't remember when it was replaced in later years with a power outlet, but the cup holder is usually broken. The center console is usually broken. The seat motors usually go as well. The oil pressure sending unit usually needs to be fixed as well - there's a few sensors that are also prone to failure. (Camshaft and crankshaft position sensors come to mind) On the HR, the concentric slave cylinder is likely to go out on you. A good upgrade is the Z1 CSC elimination kit. I am typing this, and keep thinking of things that fail on this car. Rear diff bush will burst, and need to be replaced. Various bushings up front fail. I think the list kind of goes on and on lol
Just bought an 04 with 66k on it. Rear bearings, rotors, pads, vacuum leak and throttle body because someone was screwing with the butterflies and engine. Now I think front bushings and control bars are going. Bought for 5500, putting 1k worth of work into her. Hoping to get everything mechanically sound for 7k max. And hoping that'll last at least a few years without problems
Nice, yeah the bushing always fail no matter the car. Just that material doesnt last with time. Hopefully the Z last tons more years with out any other problems.
For my DE, 2004, 215000kms, i had to replace the radiator as the upper and lower radiator seals were leaking coolant, went with Mishimoto. also had to replace coil packs, as well as both upstream and downstream O2 sensors as they were toast too,. Bosch indicates changeout intervals of 200000kms on the sensors so that was on the money for me. lastly i had to do clutch, slave cylinder and clutch line as it had burst from a pressure plate failing. im probably going to be doing wheel bearings soon on this thing and full poly bushes xD
The 03 04 05 interior plastics we're color coded not painted like the newer models the 06 07 08 were painted that's why the paint on them would peel and scratch
So Im having the opposite problem with my door handle. My door won't open from the inside. I have to roll the window down and open from the outside. Any ideas?
My Z a 03 DE just died this afternoon and at first I thought simple battery hasnt been replaced in a while got a jump went and got a new battery after they didn't even read drove it around for a couple hours it was fine then I went to turn it on again same thing no acceleration and just sounds like its dyeing so I thought it might be the alternator but when I was stuck slow accelerating my cars speedometer windows headlights started going crazy so know I just don't know maybe its the ecu idk just here to ask if anyone may know
Kai Johnson thanks. I don’t have one yet but looking into getting one and been looking through the pros and cons and things to look for. That was one of the main things was the tire feathering.
Andy Vaught no problem. Z’s are great. Don’t remember what I said in this video but definitely look at 07-08. Those are the HR’s and are the best years to get. Harder to find and are little but more but worth it to avoid some of the issues in the earlier years.
Josh Kim it won’t break every time and what I meant is if you are pulling the door handle as you are unlocking. Not just holding it open. Doing this there’s a good chance it will break.
Bro for your first car, no matter how much you think you aren’t, you’re gonna hit some shit man whether it’s major or not. Don’t go spend 1.5 - 2k on a used z.. find a late 90s model Honda or Toyota and you’ll be surprised as long as you keep the timing belt/chain and oil changed
Nice video man. Unfortunately, first thing I saw after turning on the video is the Japanese Nazi flag (aka the Rising Sun flag). Our forefathers fought against that mother*uckin flag and it represents the war crimes and crimes against humanity by the Japanese empire. It is the equivalent of the Nazi Swastika and we should really be stop using the flag as a cultural symbol because it’s a flag tainted by the crimes committed against humanity. Instead we can always use the actual Japanese flag. Other than that, cool video man and keep up the good work!
Yup I understand and I actually took it down not long after when I found out more about that flag. Saw some Korean speak about the meaning so I was educated on it and made the change.
