I agree with you on the sound quality. I was surprised by the SQ when I first got mine. They do get a little stinky on 4500 rms though. So I wouldn’t go more then 3500 rms for a pair
I ordered the loaded evl 18 and the sub arrived broken just like yours. I was pissed. Even the box was damaged on the edges. Ups treated my stuff like shit! I took pictures, called Skar customer service, emailed pictures and they sent me a whole new box and sub, free of charge! Satisfied customer! 2 evl 18's banging now! Soundigital 4k on Northstar power!
I ordered a Skar Audio ZVX-8 D2 900W yesterday, can't wait for it to come!! I also own a Sundown X12 at 1200W, it's phenomenal, needs more power but it's in a 35Hz tuning 2.30 cubic ft ground shaker x-large 12" enclosure on a Pioneer GM-D9601, it's great. I respect any brand, one of my favorites though are Sundown, Skar, and maybe Orion.
Chris G that pioneer GM-9601 is a terrible amp switch and you will be very surprised I just did after years of running the 9601 , I've been missing out on so much. 😡
this comment I wrote is so old woww, right now Im running a Sundown X-15 v3 d2 in a 4.8 cbft ported custom designed 22 hz tuned box it got loud around 23hz and it WAS wired to 1 ohm when I had that Taramps Smart 3k but 3+ yrs of just full blastin that amp it gave out
Very nice explanation on this loaded setup! I do have the same setup and you are correct. After the break in they perform extremely well from 30 Hz to 50 Hz at very high power. Nice job brother and keep up the good work!

Its funny any time these "competition elite" bash SKAR they're always comparing it to super high end competition components. Its like not everyone needs to spend 1000s of dollars to get great sound and not everyone needs "competition" components. I got a 10" SKAR 2ohm DDX in a small ported black carpet SKAR box hooked up to a 2400w HIFONICS ZEUS amp and that thing seriously bumps so hard! I've been building systems for 30 years now and have used everything from Kracko/Blaukpunt lol to ORION/MTX THUNDER/ JL etc... I can honestly say that my 10" DDX hits almost as hard as two kicker 12s . I couldn't even imagine if I put it in a proper sqf box or added another one but I'm thinking about upgrading to a12" DDX . Find them in boxes on offer up all day for under 200$

With skar subs the Max power is actually the rms ive seen 5k ran on 2 of these 2k ran on one the zvx wich is 1800 rms. 6k to 8k ran to 2 of em 3k on one imma really big fan of skar i like sundown too i like alot of brands but skar my fav

was about to pull the trigger on the q series kicker 10' with factory box until i seen this vid only thing i seen with these its with low fhz bass tracks alot of ppl say they start to smell (overheating) have you ever had issues with that?

I have 2 skar evl subs and the dam motor mounting bolts will put round dimples on the woofer from behind the cone then the screws makes the woofer crack the spiders arent the best either i power them on a smart 3k taramp
I think they're OVERRATED. Just based on the shit I see on youtube all the time. peoples outer rings ripped, or breaking. Or the notorious "ODD smell" that lingers for weeks, or months. And of course, so many people saying they fail after a month if you listen allot. American bass seems to be better quality, and cheaper.
Overrated, it’s not a bad sub - but if you have ever spent time around any x series sundown you will get what I’m saying - just worth the extra money, but evls are killer budget sub

From what I have heard about sundown audio in the forms is that it is just a laughing stock for poor sound quality and from popular reviewing websites also states that sundown subs are the worst for sound quality. On the other hand, I heard a lot of rave reviews on star audio across the board. I have read hundreds of reviews on star audio products and they seem to be the best out their for car speakers and subs! What turned me away from skar sub is that they don’t seem to be made for the really low frequencies so I didn’t get the skar audio sub for home theater. The resonance frequency seems to be pretty high for my use. Instead, I when with a Dayton Audio 12” HF subwoofer, they seem to be the best for the price and I know that the Dayton sub will hit the low I am looking for for home theater.
You could not be more wrong. Sundown subwoofers from the start we're all designed around the sound quality standard. Jacob Fuller his self will tell you he sells SQ subs to the SPL guys. I'm going to assume that you have never ran a sundown subwoofer. And FYI Jacob fuller the owner of sundown audio designed the first two subwoofers of skar audio as an oem collaboration. Until skar audio cut the throat of their dealers and started selling direct to the public. That is why their prices are so cheap. Check facts before you bad talk a company
so wrong i have a 13w7 and sundown x12 i can tell you is a step up to the w7. both are musical and hit low bass notes very well. only difference i notice is the x12 goes a little lower than the w7
That's not true that a guy work for sundown and left and went to skar Kevin who owns skar had Jacob fuller help him design there first subs and kevin try to copy sundown so sundown quit fucking with them skar is a cheap knock off to sundown no comparison in sundown to skar
Hahahaha wow flat frequency huh have you ever heard of an oscilloscope? It measures ac sign waves which is not flat it sweeps up and down from negative to positive now there is a clean sign wave and distorted or dirty signal which is what happens when your amp is too small and you crank your gain up past where it should be now the ac signal going from the amp to the subwoofer starts to flatten out on negative side and positive side this will cause damage to your subwoofer and amplifier

The motor is too small and they're inefficient. Decent sound quality but there are many subs that can get louder off of the same power.

Not at all and I've blasted these with nearly 2500 watts and they don't show any signs of weakness. Although I break my speakers in before I push them
