The wide angle is great, also considering it provides some protection to the actual internal lens, always a pity with compact cameras to get a huge scratch or straight up crack the internal lens, when it can't be changed.
If Sony makes a ZV-1 with a 16-70 equivalent focal range and the Z battery it will be the best-selling camera of all time!! I have an A7C setup and I love it but find that I'm constantly craving the simplicity of a setup like this for all of the casual shooting I do. Thanks for this great video, I love seeing how much fun your team has together!
Bought my ZV-1 about a week ago. It's amazing for what I do, but I do wish it was wider. Truth is I need small camera to take with me on my jobs for content. I shoot B Roll with it and also use my Google Pixel 2 too for other shots. Still... I do want a wider lens. Let's see if the Ulanzi goes on sale soon.
RIght when my environmental senses started tingling... sweat on my forehead, elevated heart rate, "Is he really gonna do that? Another bottle in the ocean? I really liked his videos, no please don't..." oooh he is nice guy :D Thanks!
There is now a 0.43x and a 0.4x lens on amazon for the ZV-1, it should be (much) wider, though there is no review yet : it would be 10mm equivalent roughly !
Keep in mind that this thing can damage the lens of this camera :). The motor is not that strong and the spare part comes with the sensor so... buy new camera if you damage it and the service decide it is your fault. I think that the best solution will be a small cage with bayonet and there are a lot of cheap wide convertors from brands like Sony, Olympus, Raynox, ... that can go even wider and probably with bette quality. I like the 1" sensor line of cameras especially for family stuff.
This video is about a year ago and I am still looking for a small vlogging camera and this ZV-1 still what most people want. That means I have no other choice but to buy it. Unless you are a professional photographer, the only reason to get a dedicated camera is for video. Even then, unless you need professional level videos, the only reason to get a dedicated video camera over a cellphone is for low light videos. Then the problem with finding the right mirrorless cameras start because they are mostly picture cameras first and video second, thus their video features are less than stellar, most of them lacking basic video features found on the iPhone, such as slow mo, 4k 60fps etc. The reasonable option is to get a dedicated camcorder (totally the actual way togo) but these days camcorders are not as popular with these influencers because they all want bokeh videos.
