I appreciate this post so much! I am a bigger guy and a couple of my golfing buddies are a very slim build. I have tried to mimic their back swing and while I know Im not as flexible, this video lets me know that they way we all hold our clubs can be different with different builds. I already hold my driver similar to how you were showing, but I never thought to hold my irons this way. holding them the "normal" way has always felt restrictive, now I know why!
Thank you, Jared! People don’t realize that a 6 foot two skinny kid with no chest cavity can use regular clubs no problem whereas a bodybuilder that is even 5 foot eight and Can bench over 250 -450 pounds will need 2 inch at least longer clubs! That’s why I made this video to help you hammer throwing Olympians understand that you cannot swing like you’re 6 foot one six pack ab yoga guy !
Seems like this excessively strong grip would cause a pull hook for me. But I will try it the next time on the range. I definitely have a big chest and shorter arms which has caused me to always struggle
I'm just getting into golf and I'm built like John Daly. I'm just an Earthling though, so I need all the help I can get. I appreciate you posting this.
PAUL,,,,THAT is the (Jerry) Heard Super Swing !! I have used this method on and off, for years,,,,,that is exactly the HSS.....for someone, like me, that does not fan the club open enough going back,,,,,this is a very good way to play-------just make sure you keep the right palm under the grip and going to the target and don't let it turn over or there will be some Nasty Hooks in your future---lol. Stronger grips on the Tour are very prevalent with the driver these days as well---
GORMAN,,,,,His right thumb needs to be All the Way to the Right side of the grip,,,,,or he will continue to hit dead pulls,,,,,that you were calling Dream Shots,,,,,,also you never mention that I heard at least the Soft Left Elbow of your son,,,,,,ala Wild Bill Mehlhorn,,,,,,which is a great piece for a Big Guy

That grip is close to what Moe Norman used who was barrel chested?
Most are so far away from it so he could lay that set up over his round Tammy and Chest!
