- Halo in VR has eluded us for ages. But Contractors new update basically adds Halo VR as perfectly as possible. With Halo 1, Halo 2, Halo 3 and Halo Reach maps included. Covenant weapons in VR, spartan armor in VR, it is all there. I never thought contractors would come back with another custom content update, but boy did they. And it makes contractors the place to be for Halo in VR. It felt so much like classic Halo matchmaking.

God, I miss Halo so much. I stopped playing midway through Halo 4 cuz I just couldn’t stay engaged with it anymore, the last true good halo game was most definitely Reach.
I have yet to play Infinites multiplayer, but based on everything that I’m hearing it doesn’t seem to be worth it.
I hope one day I’ll get to go back to Halo and actually enjoy myself like I used to back when I was a kid…

I did the same exact thing. What’s sad is Infinites multiplayer is very good. It feels like what halo 4 should have been. But it’s been an entire year and there’s still no forge, only like 4 maps total, and no co op campaign. 343 is just asleep at the wheel even though they actually made a good halo game for the first time in years.

@@habie147 it is very disappointing what they did with Halo. They had a game with multiplayer that was enjoyable across the board, but they decided to not do anything with it. Imagine how big Halo could be right now had they actually decided to put any work into the game post-launch with the amazing base they had to work off of. I want to believe they still can, but what they have shown so far doesn't look very promising for the future of Halo Infinite and Halo as a brand itself.
I love the fact that the mod devs correctly realized that the characters see the reticles in universe. Half of the guns in Halo don't have an optic or usable sights because every enlisted person has a chip in their head that shows them some variation of the HUD. Every time a game mods in Halo guns they always miss this part and they never feel good to use because of it.
I absolutely adore Smart-Link in Halo, like that reticule is straight up just there wherever you're pointing the gun, like a laser sight but only on your eye. It's why the front cowling on the magnum is so huge
Not a chip in their head, it's in their helmet or visor. As the other guy said, Smart-Link syncs the weapons to the helmets to relay weapon position and stats like ammo

Not quite. they all have physical backup sights. the bulky parts at the front of the assault rifle and magnum are just the smart scope components. They have iron sights underneath. you can see this in the Reach Magnum.
The Halo infinite design of the AR actually has it so the ammo counter component has a little piece that sticks over the front cowl of the rifle, which implies it can double as an optic.
I think they actually do have chips in the back of their head too. At least some do.
I'm really glad the developers have given the tools so the modding community can go wild. I've always preferred contractors gameplay, the problem has alway been player counts. At least for now that problem has been fixed
I'm sure player count will be up for awhile. And with it being a payed game there be more like teens and stuff playing instead dof little kids. I love Pavlov and stuff on the quest but genuinely small kids have brought most of the fun from Pavlov out.

Seems like the player count doubled since the release of the new update. I use to find like 10 pages of games and now it's like over 20 pages of games. Steam player count has def increased by a lot. I remember it was like 30-60 players on steamcharts and now that number has went up to 150-200 players.

Fun fact: In the lore of Halo, that's how reticles work when you have a Mjolnir helmet on. Because the suit links with the gun's sight, that's why there is no "true ironsights" in Halo, because it automatically zooms in on the gun's internal camera.
The level of mod support is really going to be the thing that helps separate contractors from being “that one game that isn’t Pavlov”

@@birdyrules It can do all of it poorly. Pavlov has bad gun handling and is generally janky. Contractors is solid and the guns feel great. Pavlov really should just fade away naturally at this point, it's like Onward, showing its age in a huge way.

@@jumpemwithkindness more importantly though, imagine the levels requiring you to FLY... or just the ability to use vehicles. That would be either A) the best thing ever... or B) sensory overload causing sickness and possible harm via falling or worse.

Habie is honestly one of the few youtubers who makes me openly laugh out loud to his videos. He is also the main reason I'm gonna be getting a VR headset soon, I'm so excited for that and the many more brilliant videos to come!

What’s awesome about the reticles is that it’s pretty much lore accurate if memory serves
Basically the reason I got a vr headset was because of Habie's videos, every single one brings me more joy.

i played the beta a couple months back, and i was surprised at how good it looked for the quest. i'm still sticking w/ the pcvr version but that's purely bc that's where my main save is, but dang i may get it on quest for when im out and about

I wish 343 would go back to CE's and 2's roots, simplify the graphics, focus on couch co-op, local mp, and original Live style online play. Basically the opposite of what they've been doing.

@@eZnogoud the only thing I don’t like about infinite is the lack of content and the fact they’re trying to make it more competitive I just want a nice fun game not a sweat competition, I actually think it has the best gameplay of all the halos and I grew up with halo 2

@@rainacap I agree, the main thing I don't like about 343's halo games is the fact that the games were made way more competitive when it (in my opinion) wasn't meant to be.
It's cool, because the HUD in Halo works like these reticles. The Helmets and even Marine helmets have a display in them that projects the reticle to where the gun is pointed.

This community is fire. The map at the left. The Pixel Gun 3D one at 1:45. I ported this map from the original game and in like 10 days I’m at 10K downloads and 3k subs on it. Just for an arena with melee.
Respect and now create maps like "cold of duty" he created 1 to 1 modern warfare maps and black opps maps. He is briljant !

Contractors has an cool addon, "natch der untoten". I just love that addon because is literaly the most acurated BO1 zombies experience for VR.

Not much harder than for the Spartans. The marines use them, and all the guns are using real calibers.

That's why I prefer Contractors over Pavlov, the mods are insane. I spent a few hours playing in my alll time favourite maps from CoD (from MW1 to BO2) in VR and it was enough for me to be more than happy.
Also gunplay is like 200x better

This is a hit. Just a month ago we were playing on COD mod maps and now it is almost full blast. Never seen so many new players all because of the new mods. The updates did cause a bit of a stir, but what a revolution in VR gaming.
They definitely need to find a way to bring in the Halo vehicles and increase the amount of players able to play certain maps, including Star Wars maps. And certain weapons have too few rounds. More skins, including Covenant skills will be cool and a Jedi option including the light saber already used in a few mods.
I absolutely love your content man. I'm very happy I found you those months ago when I did. Keep up the great work man, it's fantastic.

I haven’t had this much fun in a multiplayer in over 10 years. The guys coming in for the nostalgia gives the voicechat this special kinda vibe , feels like 2000’s trash talk all over again and its all fun and good.

Absolutely love contractors. I first got it because it's quest/PC crossplay and my friend only has a quest.
It makes me really happy to see this custom content update. Especially because it's been done REALLY well using Unreal Engine's built in modding support. You just make it like you're making an Unreal Engine level/character/weapon and it's in the game.
I have been WAITING for this video. I knew it was gonna happen as soon as I saw the update trailer and then the halo mods started flooding in and I could not be happier. Thanks habie for going over my favorite vr game 🙏

I've been playing this none stop all the memories of hoping on halo 3 on those weekend late nights. With the buds came back in an instant of playing this I haven't experienced this much joy in a long long time.

Honestly hoping people start to take these Halo mods even further and we start seeing the campaigns adapted to VR. Being able to do a Warthog run in VR with the boys would be as fun as it would probably be nauseating.

Dude I got an entire lobby to play infection. We did halo 2 rules where it was a slayer match and one person was chosen to be the first infected each round and if you were killed by a sword you could only use your sword. It was a truly awesome experience because it was all on the honor rule and it WORKED

As much as I missed the RuneScape asmr, I’m so glad I discovered this actual masterpiece. I have Pavlov and wasn’t even aware of the halo mods, but from the looks of it contractors takes the concept of real halo and finally brings it to life in the most realistic way we’ll get for a long time. I miss halo so much too and after halo 4 and 343 that longing has only gotten worse, so this is such a surprise and uplift in my expectations.
This video has singlehandedly given the devs of Contractors VR my money. Thank you.

I was just playing this, and shooting someone dressed on a mjolnir armor jumping over me with a energy sword while the halo theme was playing in the background for some reason was an experience.
