    I also never dry my clothes. It makes a huge difference-especially when you’re on a budget and need your pieces to last a long time.
    I love the tips about looking at the model’s sizes. I buy most of my items from Nordstrom Rack (perfect for your budget ladies) and they’re good about posting the model’s stats as well as details about the garment. If you use the app, the site remembers your sizes and will make suggestions.
    Lastly, I loved the tip on stocking up on basics during a sale. Another thing us gals can do is if there is a bigger ticket item on your needs list, you can look online during the off season and often find one heavily discounted. During quarantine I culled my closet and realized I needed updated coats/jackets. Because I like classics, I was able to find the absolute best pieces (from Nordstrom Rack and Nordstrom) that I’m so excited to wear when summer is over.

    I litterally just came across your channel! I'm in the fashion industry as a store manager. I saw some of your fit tip videos. I would like to see other examples other than you and your size and shape. When you speak of "hiding the tummy "...... great on you but how about other women over 40 different shapes sizes.....live models side by side to show how it works differently for different people. I see in this picture you are specifically showing how to shop online and I understand......so lastly for the army of us who have retail careers.
    .....come on in! Keep your stores open! We are here to give you ideas and opinions, a less confusing experience......come in try it on and get amazing interactions y'all!

    I can’t believe the high end items I find thrifting that are ruined because the owner washed and DRYED the item in a dryer instead of line dry or shaping it on a towel. It makes me crazy that people don’t know how to care for good clothing. I have had some pieces that I literally have had for years and always am asked where I got it. A beautiful well made sweater will last for years if well taken care of.

    Check the item closely in all of the colours in which it is available - different details show up in different colours (stitching, finish) and, they often use different models for different colours so you get a better idea of the shape/fit ... which leads me to another tip: they (should) put the model in the colour that works best with their colouring so, you can get an idea of which colour would work best for you.

    Another site for saving money when online shopping that I have not heard you mention is Rakuten. When you download the site it runs like Honey and offers additional cash back discounts. For example, I was recently shopping the 50% off clearance at Intermix and Rakuten was offering an additional 10% my purchase. It is like free money. You will be surprised at how quickly the rebates add up. I just checked Verishop and today Rakuten is offering an additional 5% off your purchase.

    High End industries do not cater to average sizes. I am a 14. I have heard so many times over the years anything over a size 4 is considered a plus size. Average Americans are size 14. I buy cheap, such as Jcpenneys, Old Navy, Walmart, Target, Lane Bryant and Amazon. I wash and hang my clothes to dry. When my shirts start to peel, I have a machine that gets the peels off. I can not think of the name of it, but it is a life saver! Too many fast fashion out there. Quailty isn't what it use to be period.

      Kat I am so so SO with you on this!!! I actually have the money to spend on high end clothing now but can’t because I’m now 50 pounds heavier than I used to be. I’m a size 14 sometimes 16 and can’t get anything that doesn’t look like granny clothes. Even some of the brands Erin loves, like her Moussy vintage jeans, just aren’t size inclusive. Frustrating!!!!

    I don’t buy “hand wash only” clothes but “dry cleaning only”, yes, because there’s a product in the US called Woolite At Home Dry Cleaner, pop it into the dryer 20 min, medium heat and up to 5 garments of similar fabrics and colors. It never failed me and works really well. I buy it at Walmart, should be easily found.

    • @ashleys4652

      I have a question about that Woolite product, if you don't mind. Have you used it on silk shirts? I don't want my pretty silk shirts to lose that soft, silky, shiny feel. Thank you! 💜

      Linda S It says in the box that’s safe to use on silk, rayon, cotton, cashmere, wool, nylon, linen, polyester, acetate and other synthetics. I never cleaned my pure silk blouses with it, but did silk pillowcases and silk blends shirts. It comes with detailed instructions too.

    I LOVE the first dress on you! I am petite also and I try to look for model size too. I don't usually care about the height of the model, because I usually just add 3-4 inches in length and know it will just be longer, but I go by bust and waist to get best fit for myself. This site looks great! Heading over there now to check it out! Also, at thrift stores, I only buy things on my list of things I want that are either trending or are pieces I will want to wear in 10 years still. I try to find designer pieces at thrift stores mostly... buying cheap quality at thrift store defeats the purpose of building a forever wardrobe in my opinion. Sometimes I buy super large pieces and use the fabric to make new clothing for myself too.

    Erin, I wish there were an app like this one geared toward plus sizes. It doesn't seem like this site lists clothing above a size large or extra large. Although I'm trying to lose weight, I realize I have to dress for the body that I have today while I'm working on the body that I want. Unfortunately, I think too many designers believe that plus size women do not want to dress well or are not interested in producing clothing for the rest of us. This is soooooooooo frustrating because I'd like to look as good as I can.

    Another tip - some stores / websites ask for your birthday when you sign up for an account. It's always optional, but give them something close. Shops that do this will send you a discount code in your birth month. And these can be amazing discounts!
    I like some pieces by Eileen Fisher - not all, much is too baggy for my petite hourglass frame, but some. I signed up at my local store and my birthday discount was $50 off a purchase of $100 or more. I bought myself a pair of neutral wide leg trousers that look custom made for me. Next birthday I'll buy some basic tops ... their tops last forever.

    Also regarding dry cleaning, if it says dry clean, from what I understand, that’s optional, you can also hand wash, but if it says dry clean ONLY then you’re stuck with the bill or you’re probably going to wreck your garment. I hand wash pretty much everything too. And jeans you need to wash only rarely, you can freeze them instead!

    I'm amazed how often I come across negative reviews for clothing items complaining that the garment shrunk, developed holes or lost dye & was horribly overpriced & cheaplymade because it didn't survive the first wash/dry BUT the description clearly states DRY CLEAN ONLY or to hand wash & line dry with the fabric contents plainly listed. Rayon, viscose, tencel, etc. Why do people buy clothing made from delicate fabrics then proceed to launder them like they're dirty sweat socks? I wash most everything in cold on a delicate cycle & line dry or dry on the coolest setting possible. When in doubt--read the care label! I shop online exclusively & rely somewhat on the reviews/comments regarding any sizing/fit issues. I'm busty so the chest measurement of tops & dresses is what I have to pay attention to since on most size charts I'm a size or even 2 sizes larger on top than the bottom even though my bust/hip is the same. It's mainly this issue that pushes me into Plus Size sizing, at least for tops, dresses & jackets especially if they button up or are fitted in any way across the chest. It's really frustrating finding tailored jackets/blazers in plus sizes, everything is open front & very light weight/unlined.

    Wonderful information and sites I have never heard of. Thanks. Question, please. How big is your closet if you don't mind? Generally how long do you keep your pieces that aren't the staples and basics? Do you consign? I've watched you a long time and love your choices. Also, how many times do you wear a jacket with a cami before drycleaning? Many thanks, Erin.

      I'm so glad that this was helpful. My closet is not big, but I do keep a lot of clothing in my studio as well. I keep pieces until they are no longer being worn and then I generally give them away. As for Jackets...I only clean them when they appear dirty or are in need of a cleaning. I can usually wear them several times in between. I clean camis more frequently, but only when needed. xo

    Erin, hello new subscriber and I pressed the bell for notification when you up load. I’m pretty new to the RUclips community. But, I’m learning everywhere I can. I absolutely love this video. I have been doing it all wrong, 5’ 2” so, of course I am very, very short. You look so pretty, I am not as petite as you, however as I see I am wearing outfits that are making me look even shorter, not looking that long lean look. Thank you Erin, this video is brilliant. I feel like going into my closet and make trip, after trip to the Salvation Army and start all over with a clean slate. Also, the shoes. I am in a little shock, I am doing the wrong left side every outfit! Shoes included. I am going to watch a lot of your previous videos, I bet I’ve missed plenty of ah ha moment. Ok, thank you Erin I’m excited for my new long leaner look.
    Warm regards,

    I purchase a lot of basics off season when they are at their rock bottom price. EXCEPT, I totally forget about them when it's time to wear them the next season! I need to come up with a way to pull those items aside. I've tried the list, but I forget or loose it! I bought a Stella McCartney shell top for $27 last spring before Corona Virus & I have NO idea what I'm going to wear it with... BUT, It is Stella McCartney & It was $27!!!!!!! I figured WTH I can always get my Money back out of it if it doesn't work!!! Those Rock Bottom Deals... I'm Like an Addict- I can not resist- Such A High!! LOL

      This is a great deal, however it is also a waste if you never wear the item. Try pulling it out and styling it at least three ways. Take pictures of each look so you can reference these when you are stumped for an outfit. xo

    😆 the part where you said the shopping black hole that'll suck you in and never lets you go reminded me of IKEA😆😆 We went to get 2 shelves for the storage room at 15 bucks each and left with over 200 bucks of stuff we didn't know we "need" they force you through this never ending tunnel and you can't find the way out😅😅 and at the end you get a frozen yogurt just to feel a bit better after spending money buying stuff you didn't intend to. So you leave Ikea broke and fat and diabetic 😅🤪🤪 at least made for a funny conversation with hubby on the drive back.

    I’m Canadian and no longer buy anything from US online shops. I’m tired of paying more for each item due to the more expensive US dollar, shipping costs and custom duties. These extra costs don’t add any value to the clothes/items you buy. If the site doesn’t have a Canadian online address, I’m not shopping there.

    For all of you (and Erin) that don't like to iron but do not put any of your clothes in your dryer, how do you deal with wrinkled items? If your garment is made from natural fabrics like cotton or rayon, it will be wrinkled when you take it out of the wash. Even some items that are a blend do this. I own a small steamer but it doesn't work as well as an iron and I don't like to iron either.

    • @BusbeeStyle
      @BusbeeStyle  4 года назад +1

      I use a steamer to get rid of wrinkles. I also sometimes pop items in the dryer on low really quickly when they are almost dry. Just for 5 min or so...this will help release the wrinkles without causing damage. xo

      @trishac9516 4 года назад

    Erin, do u think all the model sizing Info are realizable for our own purchase purpose? I have a few pairs of Everlane jeans. My waist is 24”, hip 34-35”. All the Everlane jeans I have are size 24. But I see models are so skinny with 23 or 24” waist, but wearing a size 26 jeans. Doesn’t make sense. So I always read lots of reviews to decide the right sizing.
