@@edoardo.middei I think the EBU needs to know there's consequences to bad decisions. They don't seem to be at all contrite about what happened so then artists at the hands of the Israeli delegation. I'd support the Netherlands withdrawing.
My take on the Greek NF as a Greek: I'm expecting it to be mostly ethnic pop & folk ballads, which will be interesting since before Marina most artists weren't from Greece and had a different style (or were specifically fed generic for-ESC music like Demi) and Greeks from Greece definitely primarily listen to Greek songs with folk elements (or trap, but I highly doubt a trapper would try to go to esc... would be funny if it happened though!)
As an Estonian myself, I am pretty dissapointed in there will be only a final for the Eesti Laul this year. Even more what bothers me, is that 15 are chosen by the jury, because in the last year in my opinion, the jury chosen songs were one of the weakest of the show.
They did turn out to be, yes, but that's pretty much the exception that proves the rule. What worries me more is the public wildcard vote, which could very easily get hijacked.
@@phuttyyt It's not really an exception if it has only happened once. OK, I understand there might not be enough money for semi-finals, but at least let the people choose more than 1 song for the final. Even a web-vote would be fine.
@@JoMaTo1 Yeah, it does seem imbalanced, and like I said, having just one public wildcard could skew things enormously. Since (presumably) the wildcard vote will be online, I don't know why they didn't just decide to hold online 'semi-finals': it would save money but still allow both the jury and the public to decide together who makes it to the final.
The first 10 swedish artists are confirmed: Måns (winner 2015), John Lundvik (MF winner 2019), Kaliffa, Klara Hammarström, Frans (MF winner 2016), Scarlet, Arvingarna, Malou Prydz, Dolly-Style, Andreas Lundstedt (from Alcazar)
About Dora I think that deadline for submit the songs is November 15th. And I would guess that it will take place in the late February, similar as last year. I really hope that the overall quality will be a better than last year with more established artists in the competition cause it's very likely that we'll have a record number of submitted songs. About number of participating countries I'm gonna be optimistic and say 38 (confirmation of Armenia🇦🇲, Poland🇵🇱, Moldova🇲🇩, Australia🇦🇺 and THE NETHERLANDS🇳🇱). And also my big wish is that at least 1 out of 32 songs for Montesong is good enough to win the contest and brake -5 NQ streak for Montenegro🇲🇪😄😄. Cheers from Croatia🇭🇷.
I think what happened for 2024 is why Iceland is probably gonna change things up. If Bashar Murad had won he would've comfortably qualified for the final (idt it would've won but probably a respectable result in the final). If your current system leads to fumbling a potential good result and instead being dead last in the semi then there's an issue. Plus there were super questionable reasons why people were voting for Hera so there's that.
it was a terrible situation: very questionable circumstances about voting for Hera; but at the same time Bashar's performance was atrocious... HE CANNOT SING. Someone did him a big disservice convincing him he could. NOT TO MENTION THE CULTURAL APPROPRIATION. It is absolutely possible to culturally appropriate things from old Western Americana; that man had not one effing tie to that area or culture, and had no business playing up being a gay stylish cowboy or whatever. As a native of Utah, and the rural area (farms, ranches) for part of my youth I was extremely offended and angry at what he did. It's just as wrong for him as it would be for me to try and dress and dance and pretend to be an ethnic Arab Palestinian
I think in belgium there will be 8 artists with multiple songs and in the final we'll see every artist with their best song? more or less the same thing as 2 years ago with gustaph
A few questions.... Who do you think should choose the 6 songs for Eurosong? Regarding semi-finals in Eurosong - Do you think there were 6 other songs in 2024 that should have made up another semi-final for Eurosong? I think there should be NO non-creative artists in Eurosong so that even if the weakest song gets chosen, they still have someone with vision and ideas.
yep i agree that creativity needs to be prioritsed. also motivation - NIL clearly didnt give a F about being there and said that in their interview. We need artists who care about the opportunity. yep i think there were 10+ songs that could have made the final which didnt, enough to fill 2-3 semi-finals
Is it true that Croatia is scrapping semis in Dora? Because it seems like many low quality songs qualified last time. For example, the popular actor who just knew someone at HRT so participated. This can’t carry on because we can’t have quality songs in reserve that don’t get a chance.
As an Australian I dont think we are coming back. I hope Im wrong but I dont think we have much money so Im going to predict that we are out again hopefully I'm wrong. Having said that they positive side to Australia dropping out is we get to vote with the rest of the world meaning we can vote whenever and I dont have to get up at 5 or 6 am to vote if I wanted to vote. I hope the EBU decides to open voting before the contest starts in participating countries soon so That I can have my cake and eat it too
Australia/SBS rarely says much in advance when there's no national final, so I don't think there's any particular reason to assume they won't be in Basel.

I don't think the selection jury overlooking Baby Lasagna has a whiff of corruption, but that it's more a problem of who's picking the songs. You forgot the UMK song clues that were given. Atleats the song genre variety is likely to be better than last year's "Rap" overweight. “This season, UMK will see both a great continuation of Finnish pop tradition and a star of the future, waiting for their opportunity to shine bright. We will get to witness energetic band energy, hear German language in an UMK song, dance to the beat of an epic dance banger and be moved by one of the finest ballads in UMK’s history. The line-up is crowned by a song that makes you dance and cry at the same time” One highly rumored artist (from a media person who tends to "predict" most of the artist correctly quite early) is Abreu, so there could also be Portuguese in one of the songs in addition to German. Another rumoured one is Poets of the Fall, but thats not as confident rumour.
I'm really bummed that the results for Azerbaijan in the last two years were this weak, because both songs were my favorite songs ever from Azerbaijan. Hoping they'll stay in this lane and just update their stagings and marketing.
