Passed away at 79......
not bad for someone who smoked heavily all those years........
He was one of the few who could sustain such a long term public popularity under all that scrutiny and dynamic cultural changes during his reign as the "king of TV comedy".
Seemed to be a VERY private man......maybe that's how he coped with nightly pressure of maintaining his success all those years.

Johnny had a problem with Joan Rivers not because of her show on another network.... BUT because she did not tell Johnny about the show herself. Being long time friends this actually hurt Carson... it is said they never talked again.

You know I actually had “Carsoni” written in my notes but for some reason when I recorded it I said “carsini” and didn’t catch it until after I had already posted it. 🤷‍♂️
