I had a pair of Levi's jeans come apart just yesterday. I may have worn them 10 times. Maybe washed them 5 times. Unbelievable compared to Levi's of old that could last for years.

I had the same problem with socks that I purchased. I wore them 5 times and holes appeared. I read the reviews on their website and someone said that they have been buying socks there for the past 20 years and they have always been very good until now.

I think businesses have figured out that making something that lasts a long time is a poor business model.
I bought an expensive toaster from a trusted brand around 20 years ago. My family uses it every day and it’s still going strong. The toaster is no longer available, probably because it’s just too good. I can think of several appliances that were built to good for any business to make a good profit.
My prediction is that when “we own nothing and are happy”, which means we rent everything, these well made products will be made again, because the business model will switch from renting a product that lasts for a long time.
