I think businesses have figured out that making something that lasts a long time is a poor business model. I bought an expensive toaster from a trusted brand around 20 years ago. My family uses it every day and it’s still going strong. The toaster is no longer available, probably because it’s just too good. I can think of several appliances that were built to good for any business to make a good profit. My prediction is that when “we own nothing and are happy”, which means we rent everything, these well made products will be made again, because the business model will switch from renting a product that lasts for a long time.
