    That how a lot of my dirt fishing trips turn out, I end up discovering a junkyard from a bygone era. But as you say, you never know what's down deep until you dig it up.... often trash, but sometimes its treasure. And that's what makes this hobby so fun.
    Keep at it buddy.... #DigDeep... ⛏💰

      Ya many of mine are like this but still this kind of detecting is my favorite. Maybe I just like figuring out what the items are that I dig up. And when you do find something cool it means more maybe bc you work harder to find it. I have definitely learned a lot doing this kind of detecting. Thanks for the encouragement! I need it!

    I agree about just wanting to dig. If I am going along without a signal for a few minutes, then i just dig whatever the detector finds. Even if it is just iron.

      Hey Mark how’s it going? It’s so hot out here so not detecting too much! Lol! I like field hunting as it’s just relaxing! And many times interesting finds are masked by iron. I don’t always find something spectacular of course but I always have fun. Take care, Char

      Makes me a bit sad that I can’t get to the coins bc I know they are there. When I was doing trash digs last Summer and Fall I found a Merc, IHPs, Wheaties and V-Nickels, military buttons and jewelry so it is masked. I found a lot of marbles as well which was fun. Too bad my old back just didn’t want to hold up any longer. We have clay here. That’s why I go do permissions and parks mostly now for some easier digging. I’d love to find that Morgan! I did find a 40% Half and a few cool tokens as well. Thank you so much for your comment Tim, it is good to hear from you! I need to work on a video. I did make a nice permission find a few weeks back. Have a great day!~ Char😊

      Thanks Clinton! Lol! Most of my hunts are like this even in yards of older homes sometimes! I am always digging just about anything in fields because I know that iron is masking other stuff. I figure if I find all of this people were there dropping other stuff! I am always happy to see what the signals are. Thank you again for your comment! - Char

    Hello Char, great day out, I don't know anyone in my circle of friends that swing the Garrett but from what I've seen from others is the Garrett hits on targets the Nox won't..
    I'm guessing every machine has a purpose, thanks for sharing ATB GL&HH 👊

    • @RelicHuntingSouthTexas
      @RelicHuntingSouthTexas  3 года назад +1

      Hi how’s it going? My Nox 800 is really great and I especially love it for house permissions. I would say it is good to go over areas with various detectors to see what else is there. I love to turn the iron audio off and and go over areas then turn it on on and just dig it all sometimes just to see what else is there be it iron like old kids’ toys or buckles or even junk. I often clear out an area to see if there are any higher tones like buttons, tokens or coins. The Garrett AT Pro was my 2nd metal detector and the AT Max my 3rd. Take care!- Char😊

    Is the smaller coil better?

    • @RelicHuntingSouthTexas
      @RelicHuntingSouthTexas  Год назад

      Hello, I really enjoy the “5 x 8” DD coil. It has great target separation in trashy areas and it is much lighter if you detect all day like I do sometimes. I have some hand issues so the lighter coil is really helpful for me. The downside is that if you want to cover a lot of ground then the stock coil or even the larger coil would be better. There is a smaller 4.5 concentric coil called the Super Sniper coil and I don’t use it as much as this one though only if I want to cover a very small area like maybe a curb strip or around a picnic table but that being said the 5” x 8” coil is by far my favorite coil and my go to. Some people argue regarding loss of depth with the smaller coils but I don’t think too much is lost. If you need to go deeper you could use the stock coil. Have fun out there and have a great day, Char 😊

    I just got at max what do you think about it so far

    • @RelicHuntingSouthTexas
      @RelicHuntingSouthTexas  2 года назад +1

      Hi Stephen. I started off with a Bounty Hunter then quickly went to the AT Pro then later I added the AT Max which I’ve had for 2yrs. The Hoover Boys use it with great success for relic hunting so I know it goes deep. I prefer relic hunting still with my Garrett detectors but use the Equinox 800 a lot now as my main go to detector. Here are some of my thoughts on the AT Max and the AT Pro. The iron discrimination can be set 4 points higher on the AT Max than the AT Pro which is great 44 versus 40. The wireless headphones are great on the Max a definite plus. The AT Pro requires a transmitter added to the detector to use a wireless set. I have had issues with two different transmitters. I also had to have my initial set of wired headphones that came with the AT Pro replaced by Garrett as they stopped working. The detectors are very similar setting wise and as far as functionality and are both excellent detectors. The only issue I have with the AT Max is the tones are very high pitched and they bother me if I detect for long periods but I think it is bc the the AT Pro’s tones are much lower in pitch and if I didn’t know that I would’ve just adapted more easily to the AT Max. My second issue is that the AT Max can be a bit chatty with lots of extra noise in some locations even with ground balancing and sensitivity adjustments. Bc I am used to detecting in trashy sites so I can work through just about anything though. Some people have send their AT Max detectors back to Garrett bc they were found to be detective because of the excessive chatter but my detector is great I think it may just be a bit more sensitive in reading deeper targets and in picking up EMI too unfortunately. Hope you are having a great time with the new detector. Enjoy your day, Char😊
