These guys will no doubt have no problems paying off their student debt if they had student debt. In 2017 Forbes reported that the class of 2016 had $37,172 in student loan debt. So, how do you get rich when you come from meager beginnings given that you might have only a basic education or that your education became a financial albatross around your head? it's not about dropping out from college, it is about using your most productive years of life to what u really wanted to do and start progressing in that area as soon as possible
You just summed up 90% of people who go to college, but instead the majority of that 90% don’t chase their passion and end up stuck in a job they don’t like for their whole life
In academics when you fail you are punished, in business failure can be rewarding so long as you learn from your mistakes. Many entrepreneurs will readily admit they learned much more from their mistakes than they did from their successes
I also took a very big decision in life but then all of my progress in job, career and earning had shrank down to zero. Lost my family life too. I was back to square one with no support, except I was safe at home having three meals a day. Depression started killing me from the inside. I was desperately looking for motivation, a helping hand or at least a listener who wont judge me but listen. With all I was going through, one day I listened to Steve's speech and the lines, "Connect the dot backwards" hit me hard. I was naturally good at drawing in school days which I love doing the most. I then sharpened my drawing skills, learnt digital drawing and now I am a freelance designer. Now I'm having fun with colors and earning :). Point is when twists happen in life, don't get twisted. "Why do we fall master bruce?. So we learn to pick ourselves up". I wish all good luck to overcome what they are up against and say, I made it!!. Just don't give up!!.
Good shit man! glad u were able to turn your life around. Ppl never understand how hard it is to get yourself out of a low point in life. Happy for you ;)
I’m crying while watching this. I’m very depressed in college and I don’t know what to do besides hang it there because my parents only listen to what society says. My passion isn’t nursing and I don’t see myself as one but I chose it because I was running out of time in senior year of high school to decide before I get to college. I find nursing interesting to learn new things about but I don’t find interest to be one.

Dropping out doesn't mean that you are stopping learning. Remember your study is not required. The thing which is required that is knowledge. That's why there's a quote say that Learn more earn more.
This speech inspired me back in 2015 to follow my intutition. Also dropped out of school in germany. I was good student but I noticed that the stuff I learn there literally helps me sh*t in real life. Therefore I noticed that the good knowledge is out there and it isnt for free. I educated with books, seminars, online courses and mentors in order to make more cash and have a better lifestyle than if I would have been working after graduation. 4 years later I have achieved that goal and now I compare myself with myself if I would have been in an high income job I just recently dropped out because it didnt match my criterias in terms of lifestyle.
Finished college just because I promised my parents. I didn't even go at my graduation. Wasted 4 years of my life and 50k for a useless piece of paper. Thanks God the stock market exists
you learned nothing in college? no discipline? how to make deadlines? work better in groups? exposure to concepts that later gelled in life? if it was useless it was because you put no passion into it and that's your own fault...
@@cwr8618 college makes sense only if you know 100% that you want to work in a niche ( doctor, lawyer, etc.). If you have a business mindset and don't want to work for other people it's COMPLETELY useless. Your 20s are the MOST important years of your life and the last thing a young person should do is putting himself into debt to pay off this fking college. I did it only because my parents paid for it and still I regret wasting 4 of my most valuable years. God only knows where would I be now if I did what I wanted to do. My only advice is don't listen to anyone, especially your family, they can influence you to do stupid things that they want you to do, just to show off to society that their kid went to college and you will resent them because they forced you on their same path. Ignore everyone
@@e.h.1843 Most people won't make any more money actively trading than those who park their money in an ETF/ target fund, etc., and let algorithms do the work. I read studies -in college - showing that humans are no better at earning money via stocks than systems, even 'successful' traders working at the highest profile firms had no better records than just picking a diverse portfolio and taking a passive approach. In fact humans are not as good. Further, what did you major in? What groups and clubs did you join? Internships? Sorry your experience was bad but that's 100% on you. I majored in Civil Eng because I needed a degree to apply for flight school in the military but I'm completely satisfied with what I chose because it's practical, I used it, made more money than my peers, and enjoyed the work on my way to my next destination. Then later, my 2.5 year business degree taught me how to think differently about money and cultivate my ideas. Was it necessary? No. Has it paid for itself, no not yet. But my exposure to successful peers and business owners and others investing in their education taught me a hell of a lot and surely pushed me to create more for myself, including rental income and the business i"m working on, not to mentioned pushed me ahead of other folks on the corporate ladder in the meantime. I plan on going back to school next year for a doctorate simply because I like the guided learning. There is certainly value to having highly educated people helping to fine tune what's going into your brain. Is it the only way to education yourself, of course not. But like most things in life, you get what you put in. I did NOT know what I wanted to do with b-school beforehand. But all the case studies, networking with others and learning about their ideas, and learning the business landscape has definitely redefined my outlook. College is sometimes a great incubator for those still learning how about their business mindsets. Still unsure why you're offering advice to anyone... the family argument, debt, etc. are all very subjective and more a function of interpersonal or social health and money management skills than college as an institution being a good springboard for a higher trajectory in life...
Hey guys, I just dropped a video about dropping out of college. If you’re on the same boat I hope y’all stay strong and confident!! We just have to work 10x harder!
Things happen for a reason. I remember I dreaded being a bio student. My friend who was a cs major, took my computer and enrolled me in a cs class without me knowing. If it hadn’t been for him I would have never found something that I love. 🙏🏻😞
I just dropped out of college to become an air traffic controller, even though I know I did the right thing it’s still terrifying dropping out of something you’ve been doing your whole life.
What's difficult is "dropping out" when you're 30 and have a long lease or mortgage, car payment/insurance, life obligations, etc... and you finally have an epiphany and want to follow your dream or "drop in". It's hard, obviously, to exist sleeping on friends' couches and walking everywhere and spending several hours a day immersed in learning things based on interest alone (regardless if it advances you or ever helps you in any way in your future)... depend on free meals... that's not THAT crazy to pull off at 19,20,21 years old. I mean, it takes a lot of personal strength to live like that, but it's possible at that age and that stage in life. It's even kind of socially acceptable to a lot more people these days BECAUSE of Jobs and famous, successful dropouts like the Zuckerbergs of my generation. I mean, Jobs dropped out in the early 70's. That was very close in time to the "tune-in, turn on, drop out" of the hippie movement. So for him, he'd probably felt "permission" to do this from the era that was unfolding around him throughout his teenage years.
I feel so related to that and that's been part of my life in a way. When I choosed to drop out College ,years ago,I felt destroyed and depressed.First because I was son of both graduated parents.Imagine what a shame for me (and for them). In that deep condition of mental sorrow, I simply struck back ,carrying on studying and working on what I really liked .And first of all,I did not give up.Still I'm not doing. The most satisfying thing was that my failure and that choice to drop out College, brought me doing a Job that I always dreamed .Even without a College degree (having only an High School Diploma). And all thanks of years of work and apprenticeship. The point is just that if you trust yourself and you don't give up,u realise that life could give so many chances to take your revenges. All u have to do is never ceasing .Always "Staying hungry and foolish".💪💪💪
This is one of the channels that gave me the courage to start my RUclips channel 2 months ago about self development. Now I have 189 subs and almost 82 hours of watch time. I know it’s not comparable with others but I’m still proud I started because I’ve been learning so many lessons that I couldn’t have learned without getting started in the 1st place.
If you're as brilliant and creative as Steve Jobs, you don't need college. if anything, most college professors could learn a lot from this man's real world experience.
I dropped out to pursue entrepreneurship, got my first business set up and running and looking back to my fellow mates they feel like kids to me maybe I've outgrown them and taken too many responsibilities before the time I don't know but one thing is for sure I don't regret it
Another important thing, just a misconception to clear out, not every one has the same passion and not everyone can figure it out in the same time. Steve figured it out earlier, some may not figure it out, some may figure it out after completing college, or decades after it, some may find that they feel passionate about academia and their methods. We all have to be aware of our selves, our strengths our weaknesses, perfect the strengths and move forward that’s when we will find fulfillment in whatever we do. Hope all are well
Just my opinion, the one thing Steve Jobs forgot to mention from his Stanford University speech was he _never_ stopped learning. The real world became his classroom, his obsession with perfection, his spiritual awakening from fasting & taking hallucinating drugs like LSD, building networks with Fortune 500 companies, constantly seeking knowledge from others allowed Steve to grow into the person we admire today
@@whynesspower Steve Jobs was a genius. He also wasn't perfect. Which means YOU don't get permission or license to OMIT certain aspect of Steve's life. If you ever took the time to read his authorized biography, you would know that part of Steve's personality the good & the bad
Although most of us know that this is an excerpt from Jobs' commencement speech at Stanford, but the background music and photo slides are wonderfully describing what he felt. Amazing. Thanks.

Jobs is an extreme outlier. The vast majority with a story like that either finish college eventually at a perfectly good state school or end up in food service or construction. Instead, while you're in college, it's OK to take the extra time and master something unusual, something different than you otherwise would. Like calligraphy! Be different, be smart.
You must've skipped your English, science, math classes in highschool.... You have to use your understanding and use your knowledge in a variety of ways.
He's right in some ways. I dropped out in my junior year of college. During my off time I learned a lot of things about health and stress relief. Later on I used these things I learned to get control of a disability I had that doctors couldn't help me with. I'm helping others with the same disability 20 years later.
You are inspirational. I have a mental disability and I am just incredibly grateful to anyone who devotes their time to helping people with any kind of disability to live a better quality of life. ❤ Every time a person with a disability reaches a goal that others said they'd never achieve, the stigma that surrounds all disabled people as a whole, it gets etched away a little. And little by little, achievement by achievement, milestone by milestone, being "disabled" is slowly becoming less of a controversial and less of a misunderstood label. I truly believe this. ❤ *I'm also so happy for you that you were able to defy those doctors and trust your instincts instead of giving up because "the smart doctors said it wasn't possible, so it must not be possible". That stops probably almost all people like you from even hoping for better. I'm sorry, I'm just so impressed that you didn't listen to them! Certainly it's understandable to accept what these highly educated "medical experts' tell you your limits are. Wow. You're so cool and badass. I ❤ it! I don't know if you'll see this, since you left this comment over a year ago, but I really, really hope that you do. I know I'm just a stranger on the internet, but I think it's fair to assume that just based on numbers, any opinion you encounter is likely shared by thousands of people that just never cross your path directly. THANK YOU FOR PAYING IT FORWARD! .❤❤❤❤❤
I dropped out last year because I wasn't happy with what I was doing in university. Now I'm following my dreams it's not easy but I'm happy now and I'm enjoying the journey.
When you realize all this talk about dropping out of school only comes from famous lucky people, what about all the others who didnt get so lucky in life, they are no where to be found, people with school degrees can always run to a random workplace office
Where did the rest go? That’s rather simple honestly they went where their aspiration was, if they had none they didn’t go anywhere and just stayed as they were. If they didn’t do anything to help themselves what do you expect? I mean Steve dropped out of college but he isn’t telling you to do it, he’s telling you to put your big boy pants on and go get shit done. You can have a degree or not have a degree, if you don’t have the aspiration, discipline and focus to better your life then don’t expect things to get better. Basically if you’re a lazy little shit who refuses to work their ass off for something better then that’s fine just don’t be a bitch about it
I think the true message of this is that it doesn't matter whether you do or don't drop out, ultimately what matters is that you find something you are genuinely passionate about/interested in and go with it. For some, that may be picking a degree course just because you enjoy, playing a sport on the side, taking up a music class or dropping out and becoming a carer. But whatever it is don't give up on it.
I just dropped out...After 2 years. I couldnt do it anymore. It was such a waste of time and money! I was learning NOTHING towards my career as a sports Graphic Designer. I'm so nervous right now. But I really.hope it works out because I have such a huge passion for this.
@Kate Skyle exactly! Why should I spend thousands and thousands of dollars for a piece of paper where in most fact which i think a study was done where like 70%, of college students that recently graduated dont get a job till like 4 years after. And most times there normal jobs you dont even need a degree in to begin with. Yeah with you being a makeup artist I really dont think you need to go to college. And exactly like everything that I learned like science and history? How does that involve what I want to do in life? Like I'm spending all this money for these classes to where 1) I can go on google and easily search everything that they are teaching us. Lucky your parents never forced you :( as my parents judged me on my choice and unfortunately society did too. It's so sad that society is like this. But I really think that some of our generation is stating to finally realize that. Why go to college for these things? And be thousands in debt. (Sorry for that novel)
@@EleeBot Sadly, I Had to go back. It was so hard to find a job without a degree in general. I had a job at the time but lost it due to covid. and Now after about 2 years of that comment. I went back. I really suggest staying in school and sticking it out.
It’s sad that Steve Job’s last letter before passing away was that he regretted not enjoying a happy life; he couldn’t find joy from his business life.
"You have to trust in something..." even if that means going to college. Steve dropped out cause he personally didnt know why he was there, nor saw the value in it, and his family was struggling. If you can afford it, know why youre there, and see the value in it, then dont let pop entreprenuer culture influence you n make you feel like youre missing out on something that everyone not in college is doing. Lemme tell you something, they'll be the same when you get out, but you'll be smarter, you have access to something they dont, a college, and will have more doors open to you after, as well as professors, and mentors you can look back on who are happy to help you with your future, given you made those connections, as well as a tripled income that of a high school diploma(B.A.'s), its not about the paper, its the people you meet along the way to achieving your goals, and colleges are places packed with opportunity, you just arent looking hard enough, so what makes you think you'll look when you are not in college. College is a beautiful time, make sure you know why youre there and know your values. Trust in the process. I agree though that there are classes that just feel like a waste of time, but not if you reframe your value on life and learning. Like that calligraphy class, you never know how what you're learning will contribute to your success in the future.
"You can't connect the dots looking forward. You can only connect them looking backward. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something, your gut, destiny, life, karma or whatever. Because believing that the dots will connect down the road will give you the confidence to follow your heart, even when it leads you off the well-worn path and that will make the difference."
i agree with most of what was mentioned, just that, in reality, the dots dont connect the same way for every individual. we may or may not be successful, and whatever we do now may or may not help us succeed in life later on, also considering, if we would ever 'succeed'. eg; whatever great idea you worked on, the time when it'll become fruitful to everyone, is possibly after you've entrusted it to somebody else, like your children, pupils.. also considering, if the idea would ever succeed. saying that your great idea, may becomes great only after you are no more living and you will never get to experience all the appreciation. only by acknowledging the challenges ahead, we'll become more prepared
As important it is to trust yourself that the dots will connect, it is still equally important, if not more important, to work hard and I mean it when I say, "Work Hard",to make sure that the dots will have no choice But to connect themselves in the future..
It was an honer for me to shake his hand 16 years ago during a conference. I wanted to ask him to hire me, no words came out. It is more precious like that
also depending on the school, there’s a shit ton lots of horrible students in each school you see, or maybe good students and horrible education system and teachers. I love school but a school i wanto to choose at. Studying by myself, without anyone interrupting me, since i was always a torublemaker as a child and i’d always love hurting students back then, and i knew i was wrong since i have autism and i couldn’t really handle my anger. I’m being homeschooled now and i will maybe go to college depending
By "connecting dots", Steve means "connecting experiences" or "connecting knowledge of different sources". That shows how much Openness Personality trait he had. You can't guess a new colour, or a new animal. All you can do is to connect the informations you already have in your mind. Because this is how Orange is created by connecting Red and Yellow. Ideas are born when you're discussing with people to connect their experience to yours, or when you're looking your life backwards to connect the older experience with the present one.
Jobs realized the quality of fonts since he created an object orientated program system. Launching the computer age of graphic design. It was great for artist to immediately make a good living. The simplicity of his creation gave everyone a chance to be a designer even if they sucked. Everything created today copies Apple to some extent because engineers are not designers and no matter what they create functionally never translate visually nor beautifully. Jobs brought that together and few today want to embrace that revelation.

Nothing wrong with dropping out of college. You just need a plan!
The most satisfying thing was that my
failure and that choice to drop out College, brought me doing a Job that I always dreamed .Even without a College degree (having only an High School Diploma).
And all thanks of years of work and apprenticeship.
The point is just that if you trust yourself and you don't give up,u realise that life could give so many chances to take your revenges.
All u have to do is never ceasing .Always "Staying hungry and foolish".💪💪💪

If you're as brilliant and creative as Steve Jobs, you don't need college. if anything, most college professors could learn a lot from this man's real world experience.

really emotional. Nice one Savanteum
Hope all are well
No one really supports or believes you but u having the guts to follow through gives u unbreakable confidence

Every time a person with a disability reaches a goal that others said they'd never achieve, the stigma that surrounds all disabled people as a whole, it gets etched away a little. And little by little, achievement by achievement, milestone by milestone, being "disabled" is slowly becoming less of a controversial and less of a misunderstood label. I truly believe this. ❤
*I'm also so happy for you that you were able to defy those doctors and trust your instincts instead of giving up because "the smart doctors said it wasn't possible, so it must not be possible". That stops probably almost all people like you from even hoping for better. I'm sorry, I'm just so impressed that you didn't listen to them!

@Kate Skyle exactly! It’s sad that Steve Job’s last letter before passing away was that he regretted not enjoying a happy life; he couldn’t find joy from his business life.
I miss you STEVE wish I had met you once in my life, THE LEGEND

Absolutely loved this ❤️
i agree with most of what was mentioned, just that, in reality, the dots dont connect the same way for every individual. we may or may not be successful, and whatever we do now may or may not help us succeed in life later on, also considering, if we would ever 'succeed'. eg; whatever great idea you worked on, the time when it'll become fruitful to everyone, is possibly after you've entrusted it to somebody else, like your children, pupils.. also considering, if the idea would ever succeed. saying that your great idea, may becomes great only after you are no more living and you will never get to experience all the appreciation.
only by acknowledging the challenges ahead, we'll become more prepared
As important it is to trust yourself that the dots will connect, it is still equally important, if not more important, to work hard and I mean it when I say, "Work Hard",to make sure that the dots will have no choice But to connect themselves in the future..
I trust somehow in Steve Jobs and I still like Apple, somehow ´I´ need his knowledge, thanks, kind regards.

Innovative Butterfly Effect
Jobs realized the quality of fonts since he created an object orientated program system. Launching the computer age of graphic design. It was great for artist to immediately make a good living. The simplicity of his creation gave everyone a chance to be a designer even if they sucked. Everything created today copies Apple to some extent because engineers are not designers and no matter what they create functionally never translate visually nor beautifully. Jobs brought that together and few today want to embrace that revelation.
Creativity is knowledge
