I remember yrs ago reading in Hot Rod Magazine that if you are going to finish a project get the cleanest, most complete car you can find and make sure that it is a car you love! I'm glad you found the "car" of your dreams!😆 Go Penny's!!! 😎
A few of the older guys around has told us that too its getting there Glenn were all off to a big show today even taking the 58 our finally GO GLENN might even be Big Gulps hahahah.
If it originally had butyl tape, no reason you cant use it. Lots of shops use urethane, but getting windshield height correct can be difficult. Kind of important for fitting window trim.Getting it beat, one tack weld at a time.
If you use just windshield urethane you also need to use glass primer with it. If you still have some urethane still in the pinch weld it best to leave it in place (it will allow the new material to stick).
When you think of Manitoba you dont think of heat cracked dashes but cold winters and hot summers if the car sat facing south or west did the magic. The dash disappeared.
Maybe use the old dash as a template and fabricate a homemade one from sheet metal? You could cover the top with marine vinyl upholstry. A winter project?

Nice job guys . Chris you might as well pull the dash out since you have the windshield off that dash is toast anyway .
