I would personally rate Standard Damage much higher. While it's not super effective against anything, its main strength is that it performs consistently well against everything. As someone who generally likes to pick a weapon and play through the whole game with only that weapon, it's really useful not having to worry about specific encounters where my damage will be pathetic because of enemy resistances. Strike Damage is delightful until you have fight Godskin Noble; Pierce Damage is excellent until you meet Borealis. But Standard Damage gives you consistent results no matter what. The only thing I can think of that's actually really resistant to it (and all Physical Dmg in general) are the Skeletal Slimes, but they are such non-threat that it barely counts.
My first playthrough was holy damage focused for the entire game. Needless to say, Maliketh and Radagon were needlessly hard and I didn't know why. On NG+ I beat both of them first try with a strength build though
Inseparable Sword was surprisingly powerful against even the most Holy resistant bosses. 80 faith and stacking holy damage and damage buffs make it a powerful holy stick.
I'm very glad pierce is so good because heavy thrusting swords and spears are my favorite weapon types because they let me shield camp (and because the Great Epee and Godskin Sticher might have the most smug, pretentious looking movesets in the entire game). The fact the Bolt of Gransax is a spear is like the cherry on top, if the cherry were so large it overtook the cake.
Imo I think frostbite is amazing (so magic by extension) You get the big chuck off the health bar when you trigger it plus you then get the damage buff against the enemy while they are under the effect of it. I understand your reasoning to put magic where you did as not every magic damaging weapon or spell gets frostbite and it's trigging isn't guaranteed on enemies with every build.
Magic dmg is better then fire dmg. Barely anything resists magic. Saying spells carry the type like they don’t literally do magic dmg and while also having plenty of fire spells makes no sense to me.
So what I did, is I went through all the bosses resistances (not counting duplicates) and tallied them based on a system (prioritizing the lowest resistance, max of 20 if preferable; 2nd priority was 20 from highest number, and lastly 0 or lower). With this system I came up with (Order# - Tally): 1(Slashing) - 48 2(Piercing) - 43 3(Lightning) - 42 4(Fire) - 40 5(Strike) - 35 6(Standard) - 26 7(Magic) - 22 8(Holy) - 19 ---- Not to say any of them are "weak" (... except holy) but enemies seem to have the least resistances to slashing, piercing, etc.
Strike damage does do a lot of damage against knights and soldiers. Just from looking at their armor set stats. Almost all the knight/soldier armors are weak to strike
I would only switch slash with strike, and the list would be perfect to me. Strike damage is usually tied to immense poise damage and stagger potential no matter the weapon size (greathammers, flails, fists), which means that the lesser DPS compared to slash will be nullified, and it won't be weak against knights.
Strike should be ontop for the pose damage it applies as well as the fact that some enemies 'the miners'' you need it to do More damage than normal to them.

Annoying part about lighting spells, specifically the dragon lightning is almost all of it retardedly jumps into the air to use it, so you just get slapped out of the air after floating in a long animation. If it lands, it's going to do damage, but is it going to land...
I still can't believe that Elden ring doesn't have a good wiki yet. I remember that DS1 had a really good one, I think it was the wikidot one. DS2 had a good one as well. Ever since fextralife joined the scene all the wikis for these games fucking sucks.
Faith doesn’t need a lightning damage whetstone, they have electrify armament. And it would scale too high. Faith is already too diverse. It doesn’t need any more
@@depressedpotato2847 seems like projecting, I am just being based. I would explain the pvp implications or overall balance but unfortunately your response implies you may need to run through every stat. I like youwy but his faith/str bias shows pretty hard. I am actually a faith/str main and it is really cringe to see the whole pity on lightning damage from faith when they have fantastic options that rival dex for weapons. I’ll put it this way to make it easier to understand the problem Electrify armament + standard weapon is about the same AR as a lightning weapon Flame however scales faster than lightning weapons, this is because caster elemental scalings on faith/magic are higher, str competes with it due to the two handing property, dex doesn’t get this. so it would make faith the objectively better option, I mean it kind of already is because of incant access… Honestly his BoG and Cragblade remarks are painful to listen to. Dex is widely known as the weakest primary stat while faith amongst the strongest. (It is a fantastic stat for hybriding with caster builds because of cast speed) Not sure why it should be made even worse. Faith is a fantastic stat and is incredibly fun to play but it really doesn’t need any more or pvp is going to become very one dimensional

It really is not doe. The game has things you can choose not to do and things you have to do to compleate it, and it just happens that almost everything you have to do is resistent against Holy, while everything that holy damage is good against is optional.
I completely disagree with this list. To me Strike damage is king in this game. Stance breaking is too OP. Also there’s a lot of annoying enemies that are weak to Strike and very few that resist it. Radagon, Avatars, Tibia Mariners. It’s really nice to have when farming dungeons.
Fun and interesting, though the topic is too general to make any definitive conclusions. I am a bad player who has trouble beating the game, even with a maxed mimic. Even I have no trouble with a weapon with stormblade on it - beaten the game with both a strength weapon and a dex weapon. Long story short, Standard Damage is ridiculous under the right circumstances.
For me my rank based on what made it easy in my first play-through slash Strike Fire Magic/Lightning I rarely used them unless a boss was obviously weak to one Pierce Standard Holy As far as combo Strike and holy usually destroyed tibia or death rite birds or any undead things Strike and fire is great against putrid and erdtree avatars Strike is great for rocky and heavily armored enemies, anything you would use a hammer for I most did slash and fire with bleed slash weapons and slash and lightning for Loretta or any other boss who are weak to lightning, slash is great for anything with skin and can bleed or in cloth armor I felt like most bosses got destroyed by slash and fire and bleed and the few that didn’t I used strike and whatever buff they were weak too, usually fire and sometimes holy for field bosses Never found use for pierce or standard Bosses were either weak enough to slash or strike Pierce and standard were usually neutral or if they were weak to pierce it wasn’t by much and never really found a Pierce weapon I truly loved My two fave weapons in first play through was bloodhound fang with bloodflame and watchdog staff

El daño de arma melee, contundentes, que no tengan filo, és por números el mejor daño del juego, y TODOS lo enemigos son vulnerables, a TODOS lo enemigos y jefes, les puedes hacer Stun.
I agree with everything other than the Pokey weapons having the best move sets, they are literally the most boring one dimensional move sets in the game.
There is a note that explains why revenants are damaged by healing spells. Knowing the lore helps with your build and makes it more fun. I never get the people who play these games and couldn't give less of a crap what the story is...
Fun fact: people consume video games in different ways. Some people only need good gameplay, music and atmosphere and they’re satisfied. Others may actually need a really good story to keep them invested. Neither one is wrong as it’s all just preference. @MILDMONSTER1234 how? I am running dex/faith and lightning just amazing at everything
@@MILDMONSTER1234 Lightning is amazing in DS3, except for Way of The White Corona.
@@xXLunatikxXlul i believe way of white corona does physical damage
@@sf4603 it is physical! I just meant it wasn't a good miracle. Sorry for the poor wording/English 😅
Informative. But why did it feel like the voice was set at 1.25x speed. Had to check to make sure I didn't speed it up myself.
You don’t need to watch this video. The real best damage is Fall damage. Everyone’s weak to it
They're actually is a lightning affinity ash of war called lightning slash
No point using them, just use the incantations it's better and doesn't take your ash of way space
@@VSN-wb2ly I know the incantation is better but he said there wasn't a lightning Affinity Ash of War
Now this was something tremendously useful.. And one of the very few videos where I actually agree 100% with you.. 🤔🤔
I wonder why you didn't make a tier list in this video though.. 😮😮
Strike is lightning?? Ive been trying to figure it out. Thank you. I thought it was thrust.
So hear me out, wouldn’t using a piercing damage weapon with electrify armaments and a proper stats split of either dex/fth or str/fth make the best weapon in the game?
Quick note, Borealis is extremely weak to strike damaged, everything else does damn near nothing lol
12:26 anyone know why it is censored?
Ignore the k, h and t in knight and see what you get. That is most likely.
Annoying part about lighting spells, specifically the dragon lightning is almost all of it retardedly jumps into the air to use it, so you just get slapped out of the air after floating in a long animation.
If it lands, it's going to do damage, but is it going to land...
Holy damage is good for skeletons not allowing the to regenerate and also good for undead
Holy damage in itself doesn't stop skeletons from reviving.
Black blade Kindred beaten the shit out of me while using bloodhounds fang
thanks m8
Why is banished knights censored
I still can't believe that Elden ring doesn't have a good wiki yet. I remember that DS1 had a really good one, I think it was the wikidot one. DS2 had a good one as well. Ever since fextralife joined the scene all the wikis for these games fucking sucks.
I have rusted anchor and the pickaxe do piercing damage
Faith doesn’t need a lightning damage whetstone, they have electrify armament. And it would scale too high. Faith is already too diverse. It doesn’t need any more
Says the guy that’s mad because lightning got a higher tier than fire
@@depressedpotato2847 seems like projecting, I am just being based. I would explain the pvp implications or overall balance but unfortunately your response implies you may need to run through every stat. I like youwy but his faith/str bias shows pretty hard.
I am actually a faith/str main and it is really cringe to see the whole pity on lightning damage from faith when they have fantastic options that rival dex for weapons.
I’ll put it this way to make it easier to understand the problem
Electrify armament + standard weapon is about the same AR as a lightning weapon
Flame however scales faster than lightning weapons, this is because caster elemental scalings on faith/magic are higher, str competes with it due to the two handing property, dex doesn’t get this.
so it would make faith the objectively better option,
I mean it kind of already is because of incant access…
Honestly his BoG and Cragblade remarks are painful to listen to.
@@depressedpotato2847 yeah running the numbers.... faith would be broken, it would have to be at minimum a nerfed version of it and even then, faith really doesn't need it. I mean, come on, have you ever played it... it is pretty busted.
@@depressedpotato2847 also holy is better than lightning… seriously use golden lands. You will know what I mean
@@thesquishogods8015 I agree holy is good in pvp but in pve lightning is better
What’s that fit in the thumbnail
So cold isn’t consider a damage type?
no it’s a status effect like bleed
skeletons being strong against ____ damage is irelevant if you can just use a dagger with shared order ash of war
Ranking holy the worst just because mandatory bosses are resistant to it is unfair.
For me my rank based on what made it easy in my first play-through
slash
Strike
Fire
Magic/Lightning I rarely used them unless a boss was obviously weak to one
Pierce
Standard
Holy
As far as combo
Strike and holy usually destroyed tibia or death rite birds or any undead things
Strike and fire is great against putrid and erdtree avatars
Strike is great for rocky and heavily armored enemies, anything you would use a hammer for
I most did slash and fire with bleed slash weapons and slash and lightning for Loretta or any other boss who are weak to lightning, slash is great for anything with skin and can bleed or in cloth armor
I felt like most bosses got destroyed by slash and fire and bleed and the few that didn’t I used strike and whatever buff they were weak too, usually fire and sometimes holy for field bosses
Never found use for pierce or standard
Bosses were either weak enough to slash or strike
Pierce and standard were usually neutral or if they were weak to pierce it wasn’t by much and never really found a Pierce weapon I truly loved
My two fave weapons in first play through was bloodhound fang with bloodflame and watchdog staff
fire 6th? what..
And standard 7th💀
You forget to add fall damage
Amigo, te equivocas y mucho.
El mayor daño, lo producen por números, las armas contundentes, tipo:
Giant Crusher ( el mejor daño de TODO el juego, te lo digo en inglés. The best damage in all game) GreatSword, Club, Great Club, Maces etc...
With ash of war Crageblade.
El daño de arma melee, contundentes, que no tengan filo, és por números el mejor daño del juego, y TODOS lo enemigos son vulnerables, a TODOS lo enemigos y jefes, les puedes hacer Stun.
In the dlc but holy is insane so i dunno
Pvp everything at level 150. Pass it on.
I agree with everything other than the Pokey weapons having the best move sets, they are literally the most boring one dimensional move sets in the game.
Pvp version?
No bleed?
Damage type is different than status effect
batman!
Bolt of Gransax is straight dog, not sure why you think it’s the best weapon in the game. You would call it “doo doo trash”
I’m guessing You don’t know how to use It?
@@depressedpotato2847 I’m just being an ass and joking
I’d swap lightning and fire damage but put fire at 3
love how wrong you are on fire damage
There is a note that explains why revenants are damaged by healing spells. Knowing the lore helps with your build and makes it more fun. I never get the people who play these games and couldn't give less of a crap what the story is...
Fun fact: people consume video games in different ways. Some people only need good gameplay, music and atmosphere and they’re satisfied. Others may actually need a really good story to keep them invested. Neither one is wrong as it’s all just preference. I’m a person that would get bored reading a lore tab but would gladly spend hours testing out the most random weapons/spells. These games are great because it caters towards many different types of players.
Playing elden ring for the lore is kinda weird, the game is gameplay mechanic centered
