I love moong dal halwa, but the traditional process of soaking the dal, grinding it into a paste and then slowly cooking it is such a long, tiresome and laborious process (I did it once and it took 1.5 hours!) that I just buy halwa outside. I always roast moong dal for any dish including dal fry or kichdi. Lightly raosting removes the raw smell and cooks the dal fast. For halwa we need to roast the dal well. But I never knew about adding soji and besan to make moong dal halwa. Thank you for the tip chef. Will try this.
