This recipe is power-packed with nutrients, taste, and lots of fluff. To accompany it, we have chatpati si Amchur Chat Masale ki chutney.

Hi-Protein Moonglet
Prep time - 20 mins
Cooking time - 15 mins
(Serves - 5 nos)
INGREDIENTS -
Moong dal (मूँग दाल) - 1 cup
Ginger, chopped (अदरक) - 1 tbsp
Turmeric (हल्दी) - ½ tsp
Water (पानी) - ½ cup
Water (पानी) - ½ cup
Onion, chopped (प्याज़) - 3 tbsp
Green chilli, chopped (हरि मिर्च) - 2 nos
Cumin (जीरा) - 1 tsp
Carrot, finely chopped (गाजर) - ⅓ cup
Tomato, chopped (टमाटर) - ⅓ cup
Coriander, chopped (ताज़ा धनिया) - handful
Capsicum, chopped (शिमला मिर्च) - ⅓ cup
Salt (नमक) - to taste
Curry leaves (कड़ी पत्ता) - a sprig
ENO (इनो) - 1 tsp
Oil (तेल) - as required
AMCHUR CHAAT MASALA CHUTNEY
Water (पानी) - 2 cups
Amchur powder (अमचूर) - ½ cup
Sugar (चीनी) - ¾ cup
Chaat masala (चाट मसाला) - 1 tbsp
Pepper powder (काली मिर्च पाउडर) - ½ tsp
Roasted cumin powder (भुना जीरा) - 1½ tbsp
Black salt (कला नमक) - 1 tsp
Chilli powder (लाल मिर्च पाउडर) - 1½ tsp
Salt (नमक) - to taste
METHOD:
👉🏻 For Moonglet, drain the water and rinse the dal thoroughly after soaking moong dal for 3-4 hours or overnight.
👉🏻 In a blender, add the soaked and drained moong dal along with ginger, turmeric powder, and a dash of water. Blend to a smooth batter, adding a little water if required. The batter should have a pancake batter-like consistency.
👉🏻 Transfer the moong dal batter to a mixing bowl and add chopped onions, tomatoes, green chilies, cumin seeds, grated or carrots, chopped capsicum, salt, and coriander leaves. You can add some curry leaves to enhance the taste. Mix everything together well. Now add Eno and mix gently.
👉🏻 Heat a small pan over medium heat. Add a few drops of oil and spread it evenly.
Pour a ladleful of the moong dal mixture onto the skillet and spread it gently to form a round shape like a pancake. The thickness can be adjusted according to your preference.
👉🏻 Drizzle a few drops of oil around the edges of the moonglet, cover it with a lid, and cook on medium-low heat until the bottom side turns golden brown and crispy.
👉🏻 Carefully flip the moonglet to cook the other side. Add a little more oil around the edges if needed. Poke holes in it with a knife, then close the lid again.
👉🏻 Once both sides are cooked and crispy, remove the moonglet from the pan. Repeat the process with the remaining moong dal mixture until you've made all the moonglets.
For Amchur chaat masala Chutney -
👉🏻 In a clean bowl, add water, amchur powder, sugar, chaat masala, pepper powder, roasted cumin powder, chilli powder, and salt. Mix them all together
👉🏻 In a hot pan, add the mixture and give it a boil. The chutney will thicken up quickly in just 2 minutes. Turn the heat off and it’ll thicken up as it cools down.

I am eating this from childhood. I am maharashtrian and my mom used to make this recipe in 90’s when there was no internet and I make this everyday in USA, Its my husband’s favourite dish , mung ka chilla, it even taste good if you soak green mung instead of yellow mung dal.

@@snehachavan1436 pre-heat the pan and then add few drops of oil . Make sure pan will be hot , you will struggle making first moong chilla after that pan is super hot you can make it easily. Add two spoon of besan to mixture for binding the chilla and also for crunchiness you can add one spoon rava also in it. Cover it with lid, while making so give it some steam to chilla. Then remove it .
He gives Very useful tips...I didn't know baking soda work with curd...

1 eno can be use alone
2 eno alternate of packing powder not backing soda
3 backing soda with curd work like backing powder and eno.

I made this today with my own ingredients. Whole wheat flour, besan, buckwheat flour, sprouted oats, sooji, vegetables and it was amazingly good because it is the first time I am making this. Thanks Kunal.

I have been eating mix Dal chilla for last 40 yrs or so... my mother used to make it and I modified it by adding few more ingridients. I compliment it with tomato chutney.

I made the mistake of soaking the moong daal overnight so my pancakes were way too mushy. I added couple tablespoons of rice flour which made them better. Great healthy recipe overall !

Delicious looking...easy recipe. I would simply call it moong dal uttappam.
Whatever the name, this is a healthy dish. I would even enrich its protein content by adding some paneer and its fibre by adding finely grated cabbages. Because that's how I make egg omelette. It would be a wholesome meal then.
