My personal theory is that the soul/consciousness/whatever is a form of energy, and if energy cannot be destroyed then it has to still exist *in some form* even after our meat suits stop working. What happens to that energy after it's freed from the physical shell is still anybody's guess, but there have just been too many recorded "sighting" incidents throughout human history all across the globe for it to all be chalked up to pure coincidence.

So idk if mark will see this or not but my dad and I actually spent roughly 6 years studying the human "soul" and how that could possibly be connected to "ghosts" technically the huma soul has weight. It's made up of an electromagnetic pulse. Which means it's an energy. Energy can't be created or destroyed only transferred/changed and so on. So when a human dies 0.21g of weight is instantly pulled from the body that is the weight of the human soul. That's the energy within you leaving your body. But the thing we never quite figured out was where that energy went. Some energy residue however can be permanently imprinted to the area it was closest to especially if there's a high enough magnetic frequency to keep it anchored in place. Which could cause apparitions and illusions that most people perceive as ghosts. As far as haunting and stuff like poltergeist though I have absolutely no clue.
