To all the people that say this video sux because it's all chopped up, well there's a reason for that. Every time I uploaded it RUclips blocked it worldwide because of compyright. I would edit it down some, re-upload and the same thing would happen. I had to chop the hell out of it just to get it to even be played on RUclips. So... you get what you get. You're lucky you got this much. Either enjoy it for what it is or don't.

Chad Vin it’s not always about technicalities my man. Jimi was an innovator, and Eddie was a fuckin genius. Those two are instantly recognizable, I like Steve Vais playing, but he’s not a more interesting player than near 4 or 5 different people

Makes no sense because it's an amazing song and was a HUGE hit on MTV. It's much better than their number one hit "Jump."

It's really just a simple objective observation.
I was just reaching the age when I was starting to show interest in the better looking teachers when this song was released. So I guess you could say Van Halen was there for some of the most interesting times in my life. Back then we'd sing it and everyone laughed, nowadays everyone would get triggered.

Now you have to show them the "Eruption" solo that everybody has been reacting to. It's from 1986 on their first tour with Sammy Hagar as lead singer.....and their concert video "Live, Without A Net"......they will truly be blown away by someone who really knows how to play an instrument!
This was the peak of Rock history. This is literally the greatest music video of all time (and HILARIOUS!) this might be Eddie’s greatest guitar solo. Probably the greatest drum intro in rock ‘n’ roll also. These girls are dissecting this video like it’s a documentary. It’s COOL girls! I was younger than them in 84 and this made perfect sense immediately, and it was FANTASTIC!!!!! Nothing confusing going on. But yes, back when you had to pay for records, the people on the recordings had to be musicians. And no one will ever play music like this again

For the layered effect at the beginning of the song, Alex Van Halen strung together four bass drums. The rest of it he played using two. It is a great example of double bass drumming. The album was the first recorded at Eddie Van Halen's 5150 studio.
Saw this tour 1984 I was a junior in high school 🤘🤘 love Van Halen since 78 I was 11 so glad I got to see the mighty Van Halen so many times 🤘 first time 1981 6-19-81 I was 14 second row middle section on the floor 💯🤘🎸

Let 'em know, those glasses were just...how we had to wear em. Those of us with terribad eyesight. Light/superlight/ultralight lenses didn't come around until the 90's, and I had coke bottle glasses until then. Hell, to this day I still have one really THICK lens, and that's with the ultralight lenses.
The father should have corrected them about Eddie. He wasn't simply an example of 80s guitarists. He WAS the best, and he changed expectations of what a guitar could do, and I think he was the reason people stopped playing solos (except in metal). He also did the solo in Beat It.
The dad had some very basic lyrics wrong for most of his life until his girl’s easily and quickly corrected him, so I doubt he’ll be able to educate them about Eddie and all he gave to music.

Both make perfect sense :
- I've got it made = he is teacher's pet and has the inside track to getting good grades without putting in the work
- I've got it bad = well, he's "hot" for teacher, and he's jonesing for her BAD.
But if you're a stickler for accuracy, "bad" is the correct lyric.

I am glad the young ladies recognized the point of playing instruments. You should them some current artists that actually play music. Check out The Warning, Dea Matrona, Dirty Honey, Larkin Poe, The Ally Venable Band etc. who are all young artists who can sing, play, write and even produce their own music. As a rock fan, you'd love these bands and many more. Rock and blues rock is really good now but it's not mainstream.
DLR as the chauffeur isn’t weird if you think about it. The kids are trying to be popular and cool in this video so they get into a chauffeured hot rod. And the chauffeur, DLR is what they’re trying to act like in school and aspire to be. They are literally a kids version of the band in this video so the hot rod chauffeured lifestyle goes right along with it all. It’s a dream for a kid that age.
The teacher is every boy’s high school fantasy, as is being hot, cool, a rock god, with a hot rod, etc. It all goes along with the music.
For viewers, it brings kids, teenagers and young adults their fun fantasy to video, and for those that are older it brings a fun nostalgia to the fantasies they had when they were that age.
It’s a very DLR type of video who was way ahead of the times back then for music videos and so much more.

I love the comment, you actually needed to have talent. The thing that these girls don't comprehend that even the synth pop which came out. The bands had to actually build their own synths, program them. Not like today, get out your ipad, drum machine with a zillion preloaded beats and rhythms, with keyboards that you press one key and you have orchestral strings.
This was a cool video & yes ladys..talent was indeed necessary. Have them react to Eddies live solo and or the studio version of 'Aint talkin bout love ' Also let them know Eddie is ranked as the 2nd most influential guitarist (hendrix was 1st ) of all time. I enjoyed this Vid alot

Damn.. that yodeling Walmart kid is singing Lovesick Blues by Hank Williams, arguably one of the best and most influential realizations of the genre for its time. I would say my vocals are roughly around DLR range and I have trouble yodeling with full authenticity. It's such a hard thing to do and sound good. (At least to me I love that ol' stuff let me tell ya!) Also, Hank Williams is my great uncle, he wasn't around much however, as he was a "bastard child" in our family, and at that point in time you, the bastard child, suffered for it. My grandma has tons of cool stories, I wish I could put her in front on a computer and have her type them all out sometime. Anyways, cool video!!
Our whole family both sides sing play instruments are music teachers some are retired. All self taught themselves and had lessons at college Love every kind of music classical to hard rock jazz etc. Christians

The big mistake here was playing them the music video and not just the song. The girls veered off onto so many irrelevant tangents because they were too busy trying to understand the video rather than critiquing the music.

Eddie Van Halen is, without a doubt, the greatest guitarist to ever pick up the instrument in the rock genre. He was a piano virtuoso as well before he dumped it for the guitar at 12 years old after winning 4 straight years of Los Angeles-area top pianist competitions. He has/had no equal.
