When Eddie recorded the guitar solo for Michael Jackson's Beat It, he played it in one take, set the speakers in the studio on fire, did not charge for the session. He actually did this for free. Months later he was in Tower Records shopping and the song came on. Two kids in front of him said, “Listen to this guy trying to sound like Eddie Van Halen.” He leaned over, tapped them on the shoulder and said, “That’s me!”

There isn't a guitar player that hasn't tried to imitate Eddie, learn his riffs and if possible aspire to play eruption after practicing and practicing and practicing. There are many good guitar players that can never play Eruption and if they hear somebody else playing it they never fail to be impressed. He has always been a legend. Thanks for doing this and don't feel like you have to act a certain way, just relax and feel the music or don't. Just be you!

I got to see Eddie and the boys back in the day. Eddie shredded so hard he literally blew the amps. There was a 45 minute delay while the amps were being fixed/replaced. VH came back after the break and tore the roof off the place. Requiesce in pace, EVH.
